Vipera 10 Posted May 14, 2010 New beta is awesome! I've tested 70313 with -exThreads=3 and i can say 'Waw'! I've lost fps a bit but overall performance is incredible! I took helicopter and flew over the Chernarus in editor. Gameplay is very smooth and constant. I can't see fps drop when I use zoom even if I zoom to big city! And I was not able to crash ARMA2 in my test mission where I was able before. But I still use RAM disk for some files. I'm HAPPY today and I will test MP tomorrow. Thanks a lot dev team and keep moving forward! PS. When I started game with new beta first time i saw video artefacts as a green dots "snow" all over the screen. Or too low, lol yes thats right :p I had been playing around with the settings and usually i have everything on high but i lowered some of them and forgot about it, then i went playing Domination and i kept crashing after about 5min of play. I tried 3 servers all running Domi 2.06 and i crashed on them all, first i thought it was the new Domination version that screwed something up but then i looked at my settings and saw i had them lowered and set them back on high and i played for 3 hours+ without a problem :bounce3: Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

However, the game did not crash, even after two of these occurances. Needless to say, if it were an MP game and you were in an aircraft, the amount of time that the screen blacks out would invariably cause you to crash into the ground. In SP, where I was testing, the game paused itself. EDIT: Just got this three times in MP while flying an A-10 over a relatively small town. The third time caused me to crash into the ground. I dont know if AI are any wiser, but they sure dont seem any dumber, they engage at good distances and their over all behavior seems to be, clever!!? (except at bridges) i can still pick them off easily at times but maybe they feel more responsive and evasive. Performance wise has always been the same, no real great feeling of improvement but i have to say there definitely is an improvement in smoothness, i usually just open a mission in chernarus too gage any change, but my system still struggles a bit with all settings max and view distance 2329 on that map, but runs warfare ok on other islands, theres a bit of stutter etc, but bearable. I have to disable PP as it gives a wavy effect on my screen? memory set to default. Is there any new advice for which memory setting is better? is maxmem=2047 with memory set at default still relevant? i ask cos i guess i see no real difference between the 2, actually i change setting every 3 or so nights and each one feels like an improvement in my opinion Arma 2 runs sweet for me with no mods, for the non hardcore hardnuts (counts bullets in firefights) realism player but still likes the realism aspect i think BIS are getting it right. MavericK96 0 Posted May 18, 2010 Is there any new advice for which memory setting is better? is maxmem=2047 with memory set at default still relevant? i ask cos i guess i see no real difference between the 2, actually i change setting every 3 or so nights and each one feels like an improvement I've tried the new beta with maxmem=2047 and no maxmem parameter, and I haven't noticed a difference in either performance or stability. Tested flying a lot over all towns in Cherna and never got these issues. Your VMEM at default i think is wrong? Wasnt default for larger memory than 1GB? With 1GB (896) i leave it at HIGH and never had a black screen or crash. Running xThreads=3 since its the best in terms of performance. I tested the others as well with no blackouts. I crash on Default and so does a lot if other people, High works perfectly for me. In my head the settings are: Low = 256MB Normal = 512MB High = 1GB Very High = 1GB+ Default = as EricM says ArmA tries to detect the amount of memory your card have.
