Invasion 1944 - D-Day

Recommended Posts

I'm experiencing the same here... there's an addonpack/mod I'm working on; since I had the 1.07 installed the vehilces of the mod - even if placed empty on the map - caused a CTD...

..had to reisntall Arma II and patch back to 1.05

.. purchased Arrowhead today and after lauch of Combined Operations everything works like a charm.. strange indeed

Anyway; thumbs up and hats off! The galleries linked show a fair amount of attention to detail and dedication; keep it up, I44 Team!

It looks like the latest ARMA2 beta patch (72588) has fixed whatever issue was causing the crashes we had with 1.07 so we're currently using the beta version until the next proper patch. However it was crashing on the initial loading screen with 1.07 rather than certain units but you might wanna check the beta patch out Topas, good luck!

Does this mean that D-Day will be using Chernarus, and not a custom terrain?

No, it doesn't, but this mission is on Chernarus.

Definitely custom terrain :)

On top of the bluffs:

Further inland:

This image shows most of the Normandy map that's going to be included with the mod, note the objectives of this mission have since changed and are now spread over 2 seperate missions D-Day and D-Day+1 to improve performance and also to more accurately match the actual events:

Looking awesome! Cannot wait. Any new updates regarding release? Are you still working on the mod? Or are you just waiting for a stable patch release?

Wow, this really is frickn devastating!!! VERY COOL! Great work, guys!

I have a question though... Will you implement German language in the mod or will the Germans remain speaking Russian like in the video? :j:

Thanks for your work! :yay:

If appriciated, I recorded some german sounds for the 85Mod back than which were never used due to friction inbetween the mod team. They still remain zipped on my HD / ArmA folder :)

We do have sounds to hopefully replace all the Russians, just this group never got scripted to make use of them, and for the purposes of not having to reshoot the video lets say they were some poor russian conscripted into an Ost battalion? Ah now I've opened up a historical can of correction worms run and hide!

:D

Ok, so if I understood it right, the Russian conscripted will be sent home on release day of the mod?

Someone mentioned the standard ARMA2 radio messages on youtube too so I thought it would be worth addressing, not sure if people are expecting us to reprogram and re-record every possible radio message here heh, but that just part of the game I'm afraid.

If the voices are something you dislike there is the option to lower the volume or completely mute them in the sound options then the radio messages only appear in text. Enemy voices for the most part will be using custom german voices seperate from the radio so you'll hear them shouting out-loud instead when engaging them in the field. We do also have a set for American soldiers as well.

Bear in mind its a mission intended for 32 real human players something that couldn't be achieved for the video, so the AI reports a lot more than a real player would.

In the end if the radio messages are your biggest worry, the mission turned out better than I expected :D

Indeed and excellent mod. Eventhough I can't wait for it to come out, I would like to say that its good that you are not rushing it... its going to be one hell of a good mod when it comes out though. Oh, and I support you view on voices. Their fine already, no need to change them too much (could potentially waste the time that you could have spent on more important stuff).

Keep up the good work.
