i believe it will be best game ever, i really believe , i really believe

it will be so amazing that it will burn your PC before install

i waited so long for CM words, and now i feel happy, they will release new amazing military game , o my gosh , it will smash down Arma 3 in one week

total sales will be better than Operation Herring Hammer, than Speed Tomato Commando 8, than Super-Hero 1.3472, than ... o my god i cannot wait till i will try another military game from CM

it will be best super hyper mega military simulation ever made , i truly believe it, my turtle believe too, my cat believe too , i hope He*** will be manager of community too for next game

i hope they will lock forum from posting , i hope only CM employee will be writing there only, i hope talking about this upcoming mega super hyper game will be forbidden by lawsuits , i hope all screen will be brown, i hope to see stronger bushes (not only trees), i hope there won't be mission editor - cause it only spoil game, i hope code will be locked from any editing - it also spoil game :]

"Codemasters Expands For Nice New Shooter "

Made me lol :)

Well I'm not opposed to this in any way, I reckon though, that this will end up being (most likely) another shooter to be swallowed by history as just being average. I doubt it will be excellent. I guess it depends on if they learnt their lesson... (possibly not with the use of the EGO engine)

No chance, no way on earth did its sales make a significant dent in its outlay and marketing. One would hazard a guess the answer is venture capitalists + living off a name from past glories.

yeah they just got a bail out from some guys that made some money off games in the 80's. Somebody posted the names and the press release on the other thread. But the financial sector reports that they have been loosing money hand over fist. Now with another full blown in house project, you know it's going to be pricey.

Here's a blog that keeps track of CM

First they lay off the US branch office. Cancel Heist. DR fails. They expand their U.K. offices with this new injection of cash. So with no other games in development except this new "nice.." shooter, it appears that anyone and everyone is working on one title now. They better sell a copy to every console owner out there to make back that sort of cash. Also they said should be out in a year. Well knowing them, make it two, wrap some slick marketing and promotional around pre-post launch, and you got one expensive development release title.

I see this as a "hail Mary" pass. For people outside the US not familiar with US football. Imagine kicking a soccer ball the length of the field (pitch) and 3 seconds left in the game. That's about the same.

Furthermore, I only see this title being developed for consoles. Good.

Hm, perhaps, but it seems as though "that other game" actually sold quite well due to the hype and advertisement, but its sales quickly slowed after release. It seems coincidental that they choose to expand having just finished their "largest project ever undertaken".

No offense but continuously referencing "that other game" is essentially the same as discussing it.

This thread should be locked as it looks like it was started with the express intention of continuing a thread that was locked.

Discussion of "that other game" needs to conclusively end on these forums ;)

Referencing it in the context of a product sold to allow (or disallow) financing for different a future product, is completely different from discussing that said product in the detail of a thread topic, moderator application fail ;)

no, the "other thing" didn't sell for nothin.

Face it, if it was a "hit" then they wouldn't have abandoned it within 4 months. Actually it was abandoned in 2.5 months, but not official. If you had a hen laying platinum eggs, would you cut it's head off?

Lol, fair enough although I'm sure that this thread will end up there - It's as inevitable as my next cup of coffee ;)

Exactly what I was thinking today, in this day and age any remotely successful console title will have some pay DLC shoved out pretty quickly to further reap the $ rewards of developing the title.

Well discussing it in a business context I think is ok, but discussing the actual game specifics or whatever should be reported :)

Hi all

On the matter of the CM business model; it still seems to be the same old, same old of: You can fool some of the people all the time. I can not but think; that only a fool would by a product from a company with the marketing equivalent of AIDS.

Kind Regards walker

I quite like the engine, having played DR and Dirt2. Definitely has my interest if they just do a proper PC version and redesign the FPS control scheme.

And a big LOL @ all the hate. Grow up guys, you're pathetic

This is hilarious, I just noticed this thread reads as "Codemasters Expands For Nice..." in the last post in section box on the main page.

@Pulverizer: Lying can have some nasty consequences once the truth comes up. Many people were burnt by Codemasters before, I think it's only logical they are angry at them.

+1 for Walker

About that "proper PC version" you mentioned, judging from that press-release, there won't be any, as PC games can't be milked for DLC payments as easily, and also because it's users, on average being more technically knowledgeable, have a nasty tendency of expecting a certain level of quality, and asking nasty questions when they do not get it.

Also PC gamers often want things like modding tools, which makes DLC useless. Brrrr, can't have any of that now can we. Not when you have the boys from the Financial and Marketing Departments in charge of developing your products, aka looking for a quick buck, instead of people that actually know how to develop a good game that will sustain itself by it's merits, and not by the merits of the Marketing Department.

The engine is quite good for racing games and who knows, perhaps it would have been better suited for a shooter had it been managed properly. We'll have to see what happens with this new one.

I'm still not buying it, however. CM are quite simply the scum of the gaming industry after their recent endeavors.

Well, I think they have given up on realism-based shooters (and no, I'm not implying that DR is realistic or tactical). At least I hope so. Maybe they realized they just don't have what it takes to make a game like that, after the failure of DR. Maybe they're thinking "Hmmm, people think DR is crap! Let's give up on tactical shooters, BIS does it much better anyways."

Or am I overestimating them? :D

I don't think they're making a sequel, only the biggest fanboy would buy DR2. Codemasters have become the laughing stock of the gaming world. Look at their forums, it's full of rage and shame.

I used to like CM, especially because of Dirt, but after DR I will not buy a CM title again, no matter how good it is. Unless they become more like BIS or Tripwire Interactive, but I really don't see that happening.
