Franklin 0 Posted January 1, 2010 Ive been following your work for a long time, and have always appreciated the work you do. I think i have about half of your available PROPER addons installed and running right now. Ill definitely download this latest release of CAA1 once i get the time, and will enjoy playing on all my favorite arma 1 maps thanks to you! just remember this Kju, when all the ungrateful whiners are demanding this and that from you here on the forums and wherever else they may feel that they are entitled to go in order to demand from you... the rest of us are in game enjoying it to its full potential, and without you and all the work you have done, it wouldn't be what it is. bushlurker 46 Posted January 1, 2010 Hardly a day goes by when I don't learn something new from some piece of Kju code or other! ... and the fact that just about every mission I edit ends up with an accidental OAC dependency is down to CAA1 and OAC being a permanent part of my shortcut! My comp can't handle Chernarus and Sahrani is still my default island... Thanks for CAA1 and all your tireless work Kju! B
noubernou 77 Posted January 1, 2010 Thanks Kju! :D All I can say is that you are right about giving back. It took me almost 9 years to start really giving back to this community, but I plan to stick with it for another 9 (and beyond) if its still around (and I will be damn sure to try and make sure it is!). Love CAA! :D
eymerich 11 Posted January 1, 2010 This project has undoubtedly changed ARMA II. Without it even me as a relatively new user to ARMA II would be lost. I've been working to learn a few days converting some user missions form ARMA and have learned a lot. Without what you do this would not be possible.Without this community where would BIS be? If nobody was doing missions, mods, addons would BIS be successful? No they would have failed long ago. It is people like you, and other modders and content creators who keep BIS afloat and it is about time they take notice of your talent and support you in what you do. So thank you for all your hard work, and I can hope you are able to spend more time enjoying the fruits of your labor instead of continuously supporting a sometimes ungrateful entity. Agreed. And may the 2010 brings to you good things. thanks :)

JdB 151 Posted January 1, 2010 After years of abuse that we suffered as a mod from anonymous idiots, I can safely say that less than 10% of the people that like you and your work lets you know about the fun they're having by using your work (i.e. on forums and comment sections). For people that dislike you and/or your work, that's probably 75% or more. That creates a very distorted impression of what is really going on for everyone involved, and can easily take away all motivation for parts of the team, even more so for you of course since you had to bare the brunt of the abuse on your own. People should let the addonmakers that make the mods that they play with without paying for it know that they appreciate their efforts. That has nothing to do with ego, but all with motivation. Encouragement is the only revenue addonmakers can receive from users. I hope you'll reconsider.
Takko 10 Posted January 1, 2010 (edited) CAA1 did not get any support from Bohemia Interactive. This job should have been done by a paid contractor in the fist place in my humble opinion. Its easy to blame others, when they do not share the same opinion as you do. With the more and more common highest levels of expectations to hobby developer work, and at the same time unwillingness or even inability of new people to get into it or to spend time for their hobby, I come more and more to the conclusion that this will ultimately kill of community development in the long run. Well, yes its your hobby. You said you've spend 100 of hours for it, but if you feel sorry for it now, why even having such a hobby? I respect your work, still I saw that oncoming, because since your with no doubt successful OFP era ended, you always seemed to seek the same level of attention as back in the day.(If i remember right) People enjoyed your work, but they just do not post it, yet you want them to force them to. All I can say is, overall I'm sorry for that, but as the saying goes: One man leaves the building, another one is entering Edited January 1, 2010 by Takko
TheCrusader 10 Posted January 1, 2010 I just want to chime in and say a big THANK YOU! to Kju for your work with CAA1. The continuity of the OFP and ARMA series is one of its major strengths and you enabled us to enjoy the full spectrum of islands and content, user made as well as official. Your work is very much appreciated.

Simon C 0 Posted January 1, 2010 No, you install it via Yoma's or by downloading it from CAA1's site on DevHeaven. Kju, it's a shame to see you go, you had so many great projects being worked on. Good luck in whatever you go on to do next. :)

munger 25 Posted January 1, 2010 I think (hope) that Kju isn't actually leaving the community but is instead simply ending his work on this particular addon. It would be horrendous news if he really is moving away from Arma 2 as he has been omnipresent for a long time, not only with major and complex mods like CAA1 that only those of his expertise can handle but also in helping others with their editing/scripting/modding queries. His fingerprints are everywhere! It's a shame Kju feels a bit PO'd with things after all his endeavours. All I would say to him (and it has been said already but I will repeat it as it is true) is that the number of happy and genuinely grateful users of your work vastly outnumber the small percentage of whining idiots who can't appreciate the amount of time (most of it painstaking) that it takes to do this sort of thing, but unfortunately it is these people who stand out the most due to their frustrating ignorance and aggravating opinions, and this often makes it appear that they make up more of the population than is really the case. Anyway, thank you for the countless hours you have put into this and everything else.
