stevedrumsdw 10 Posted December 16, 2009 Load up the editor and place the ACE crates in the map. Sorry I cannot provide a specific name for a crate. Thanks
Simon C 0 Posted December 16, 2009 Jup, looks fine :) (No errors btw, only info's and debug messages :), will be cleaned up once everything's more stable)We have removed the BI Sound Overrides, which is what most of the messages are about. They will soon be released in a seperate modfolder, making it now possible to properly use a soundmod of your choice with ACE, while we can continue development on the soundmod and fix the spatial issues etc. So are you basically saying I can't use the ACE sounds until they are re-released? :(
MontyVCB 0 Posted December 16, 2009 Sickboy can you please release a step by step walkthrough on how to install the latest version of ACE/Six updater. I've tried to get friends to go through with it step by step yet the process has been changed since they have done it. I find all the infomation provided in the links overly complicated and of little and no help at all. I've always been a big fan of ACE but I question the logic of this delivery system, its not very user friendly for people who do not have a PHD in nerd. A point in the right direction would be appreciated.
Pauldarrington 9 Posted December 16, 2009 so everyone is using bis default sound as from now until you release the files, i was in the process of beta testing a new sound mod, thanks a bunch, i wont be using ace until you do decide to release them
Mark XIII (DayZ) 18 Posted December 16, 2009 (edited) Whats up with the sounds anyways, I went afew pages back and couldn't find anything about it ? EDIT: Thanks Simon :) Edited December 16, 2009 by Mark XIII
Simon C 0 Posted December 16, 2009 AFAIK, they've been removed for a bit to allow people to use their own soundmods, and will be re-released separately 'soon'. Fingers crossed that 'soon' indicates a number of hours and not days. :)
Blechreiz 0 Posted December 16, 2009 The sound just shocked me. Iam now trying vopsound 2.1 + ACE

JSj 12 Posted December 16, 2009 I find all the infomation provided in the links overly complicated and of little and no help at all. Just follow the 12 easy steps in this link on first install (under "How do I use the ACE2 updater?", First run). Then in the future there's just one step to add new updates. Not to complicated, right? http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Frequently_Asked_Questions_about_ACE2
TimRiceSE 10 Posted December 16, 2009 it really is very clear instructions. can people simply not be bothered to read it?

JSj 12 Posted December 16, 2009 Actually, the one unclear thing about the FAQ is under point 2, "Download any 7z base files for the mods you want". Not easy for someone not very knowledgeable with ARMA modding to know what that means. There are three files that you will want for ACE 2, here are the links: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=8602 http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=8603 http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=6231 It would be nice if the FAQ explained a bit better what files you need, and provided links to them. MontyVCB 0 Posted December 16, 2009 it really is very clear instructions. can people simply not be bothered to read it? Ugh actually they are not that clear, don't presume everyone can just read it and do it with no problems.

Youre right actually, that part isnt very clear. That step isnt even required i believe. Perhaps its best to remove that step, i can see that part being a lot harder than the other steps such as "Click synchronize" or "Click Execute." Or maybe make it very very very very clear that you dont need to do it.
sickboy 13 Posted December 16, 2009 (edited) @Updater Documentation woes: The documentation you guys are referring at is generic Six Updater docu, which means it shouldn't link to a specific mod's download page. The ACE "Lazy Way" does have it. However I do see how it can be more complicated this way. How about i'll see what I can do on my side, and the people who have successfully installed the A.C.E. Mod, the full, web-client way, write up some human readable installation notes? Sharing is caring. Re the 7z's: They are not required, but they do allow the initial install load to be distributed over casual download mirrors. Plus those who prefer, can even manually unpack them, and play with them. @ACEX_SM: "The missing soundmod files" :) As announced at the update today we moved the ACEX SoundMod into it's own modfolder. This way, you can pick your favorite soundmod, and we (tpM) can continue development, and users who prefer or want to test it can use it :) Edited December 16, 2009 by Sickboy
JSj 12 Posted December 16, 2009 (edited) Ugh actually they are not that clear, don't presume everyone can just read it and do it with no problems. Other than point 2, knowing which files to download, the FAQ couldn't be easier. It's telling you exactly what button or menu item to click on! If it is just updated with the links to the files to download in point 2 everyone should be able to follow it. EDIT: Oh, if TimRiceSE is right and this is not even necessary, that makes things much easier. Hopefully someone will remove that part then. TimRiceSE 10 Posted December 16, 2009 (edited) where do u get them from sorry? Run six updater, start the web client. Click on configuration. Click on synchronize (leave the username and password blank). Mouseover configuration, click presets. Click "edit" to the right of the profile you have been using. Beta in my case. Scroll down to the "Mods" Section. Select "@ACEX_SM" in the drop down list. Click "Add Existing" Button. Click "Update" button. Click "Main" on the main menu. Select the profile you just edited. Beta in my case. Select "Install/Update" as the action. Click Execute. Edit: Run six updater as administrator in Vista/Win7 Edited December 16, 2009 by TimRiceSE
