gabe_ruckus 5 Posted October 21, 2009 http://gamersnexus.net/component/content/article/47-newsfront1/226-dice-devs-side-with-pcgamers1 At least if Codemasters aren't paying attention, there are parts of the gaming industry that still are. Interesting news story featuring a large quote from the community manager over at DICE, creators of the Battlefield: Bad Company games and his company's plans to develop the PC version catered to PC Gamers (What a thought!). Deadfast 43 Posted October 21, 2009 "PR version catered for PC players"... wait, I've heard that one before... IMO this is nothing but a PR stunt.

Zipper5 74 Posted October 21, 2009 (edited) No, DICE doesn't support PC gamers as much as they are making it out to be. It's obviously a PR stunt taking advantage of the recent MW2 news. After all, the first Bad Company was a console exclusive. It should actually be "DICE uses dedicated servers". Edited October 21, 2009 by Zipper5

As I said I've heard that before. With Dragon Rising. Yes, I am a terrible pessimist, but at least I can only be pleasantly surprised :)
Inkompetent 0 Posted October 21, 2009 Well, we'll see how the numbers turns up. I bet Codemasters have earned just as much as they hoped for with Dragon Rising since people are so quick to buy to test it, instead of waiting for player reviews (Yes, player reviews. The professionals want to be the buddies of the game companies or they won't get any interviews or free game copies to review, and thus won't have a job) or a demo. Since it (at this point) seem to be economically sound to lie to and rape your customers there's nothing speaking FOR that DICE would have any kind of professional pride or integrity. Still, I'm hoping.

ArchangelSKT 0 Posted October 21, 2009 I have faith on Dice in regards to this, it is true that BC was a console only title, but with BC2 also coming to PC and what I might believe to be the case, and hope is that BF3 will be a PC exclusive, couse hopefully they make it to advanced for consoles. The console devs trying to sound "awesome" with giving its PC players dedi servers -WOW!- ROFL. :D
pj[cz] 2 Posted October 21, 2009 Following that trend its going to be in a year like this: Hey PC dudes check Operation Failpoint 9, we care about oour PC community because we implemented the cool feature of being able to map 3 buttons from gamepad on their keyboard, you cant use your mouse and map only 3 buttons, for the rest you have our super-duper ultrapad. At least we care more about you that those dirty DICE, whos battlefield good company didnt even come out for PCs...

InFireBaptize 0 Posted October 21, 2009 i have zero faith in DICE when it comes to PC, will examine their upcoming games under the microscope before purchase.
Maddmatt 1 Posted October 21, 2009 Marketing BS. Come on, that's rich when their last game never even came out on PC. What's the last thing they gave PC gamers? A tiny BF2 expansion that was released years ago. Since then they've been console exclusive. Well I'll buy BF: BC2 mainly based on what I hear about the single player. But I wont buy this "we care about the PC" type bullshit.
Chunk3ym4n 10 Posted October 21, 2009 Only BIS, Tripwire Interactive, Blackfoot Studios, etc pay attention to PC gamers. Where is my Valve inside that list?
pj[cz] 2 Posted October 21, 2009 Where is my Valve inside that list? I hate them for ruining counter-strike with "that STEAMing pile of poop". On the other hand they are kinda PC exclusive when i think about that, so technically they should be in that list. :)
AndresCL 10 Posted October 21, 2009 DICE cares about PC gamers my ass, they didint released BF:BC for PC and they took years to develop a patch for BF2

Sure it sucked at first when people couldn't activate their copies of Half Life 2 but now it's awesome and I couldn't play my games without it. I even bought ArmA 2 on Steam as well. Not to drag this off topic a lot but i don't think it is a matter of functionality, but a matter of personal preference and freedom if you will. I hate having to play my games through a third party software just like I hate having to put music on my mp3 using itunes which is why I hate ipods too :p. Back on topic..... I like how that DICE dev seemingly admitting that people looking for more realism should play ARMA2. For that I might even give him the benefit of the doubt about his claims for support for PC community.
njmatrix 2 Posted October 22, 2009 Only BIS, Tripwire Interactive, Blackfoot Studios, etc pay attention to PC gamers. Yes they do BIS listens and then does EXACTLY the opposite. Example is the ArmA 2 launch fiasco. Blackfoot studios have pretty much cancelled any sign of Ground Branch in this lifetime ( oh yeah you know GB and Duke Nukem Forever are releasing on the same day?) and Tripwire shouldn't even be on that list because they are so far above and beyond either one of the others it's crazy. Tripwire released one of the best Mods/games ever: Red Orchestra OstFront 41-45. If you wanna make a list of who listens the PC community list it would be Tripwire, Reality Mod team, Frozen Sand(Urban Terror 4.2 coming soon and still free) and The Insurgency Mod team and the NEoTokyo mod team (if you haven't seen it it's absolutely gorgeous). They built products people love and play daily.
