Sorry to have to correct you but that is not the case. A 1000W power supply can supply up to that much power but will only output what the hardware asks it for so having a larger power supply does not mean a larger bill unless the system uses more power. Plug in a 2000W power supply in a system that uses only 500W and your electricity use is 500W, same as in a 1000W power supply.

Quite correct. However the initial outlay (if it costs more) is a waste of money, any Quad core system with SLI will run comfortably on a quality 650w PSU, really dont see the point in having 1kw PSU unless your running a server with 20 hard drives!.

Not so.

A Quad core with 2 x 285, a few HDs etc will not be reliable on 650w.

You might get away with it depending on peripherals but it would not make for a particularly stable build.

650 is fine for 1 x 200 series GPU but it's pushing it for 2 (or more).

yeah I probably shouldn't have included that last comment but you know what I'm getting at.

One guy on here is telling me a 600w enermax noisetaker isn't sufficient for one 8800GT ROFL

thinks having a 2000w psu is the answer to everyones problems

That PSU is absolutely fine for that configuration.

Yeah, all my problems with this videogame I've basically narrowed down to the fact I needed a 2kw+ PSU. I've been so stupid, thinking that 650w is enough to run my PC - what with its graphics card and hard disks and all and expecting a game to run on it too...

Coming from being a BF2 junkie at heart the game does take some getting use to. For the fact that BF:BC is not going to be out for a while i wanted to give this game a chance. The looks on the game are great but it is IMPOSSIBLE to look past all these bugs. I have since read many reviews and the word that kept popping up was "broken." I think the reviewers hit the nail right on the head with that one.

Do i hate the game ? No but IMO this game was NO WHERE NEAR ready for release.

p.s

I know my system isn't a top of the line rig but there is no was i should have to put everything down to normal (and off) and still only get a FR of 24.

I loved Ofp and OfpR, I played both of these games for months and even years. Arma 1, played for about 3 weeks, far to many problems with it so gave up on it very quickly. Now it's the turn of Arma 2, and to be honest, I haven't played it yet - Or atleast I don't feel like I have. Yes I have purchased it, but it has so many problems I find it totally unplayable. Maybe I can give a better account of it if they can fix it soon.

I love ArmA2, but unfortunately, I will think twice next time before I buy any product from BIS in the future.

That doesn't make much sense where I come from.

For me it's playable now... bud not without getting a headache from the bad light effects, flickering textures and all the bugs. I love the possibility of this game, to bad it's far from beta stage yet. Normally you don’t pay money to be a beta tester.

I agree with the other poster. I will never buy another BIS product until its first released, then reviewed. Normally i don't listen to reviewers when pre-ordering/buying games but i will never take a chance on another BIS product without it.

I sincerely hope they survive to release another title after ArmA1 and now this debacle. In fact I hope they survive long enough to patch this game.

All the reports of bugs and flaws in the game must have killed a hell of a lot of potential sales. Who will want to market the next release?

BIS knew this game was not ready and released it as a way to earn income before OFP2 kills it. They know in this day of digital purchasing and fanboys they can keep there sales strong enough to keep the company alive. As we all know if you digitally purchase it takes an act of god to get your money back.

I for one have seen this tactic used in various companies over and over again. Enjoy Arma 2 because i doubt the company will stay above water enough to produce another one. They have not even released a retail box version in the US. They keep pushing it back. Wonder why.........

I honestly cant see how the bug plagued game and more importantly performance plagued game can go unnoticed to some of you who praise this waste of 50 USD. I have replaced most of the guts in my machine (which exceeded rec sys req) to some good stuff. I bought a high end board and dual core cpu and even some 1600 ram. In the campaign im still luggin 22 to 25 FPS. I even tried a quad core and various other combinations. Through testing I actually tried 4 different hardware combinations and the performance was all over the place. The bugs were always there to remind me where my money went.

With all of that said how is it some of you dont experience any issues? Where is the truth in this poll? I looked at the poll and was shocked to see 39 of you selected the "Extremely , Awesome game! no problems what so every". You gotta be shittin' me, seriously. Some people cannot even admit to the game needing patches?

.

No CTD's

No GFX problems

No serious MP issues

No serious gameplay issues

.

AWESOME map .... HUGE with so much detail

Awesome models

Awesome MP gameplay (excluding the TK kiddies)

Impressive performance on my marginal PC

Awesome potential - Started converting my Addons already

Crappy voice acting LOL

.

Summary: Awesome start! (If you exclude the ArmA1 beta ;) )

Considering this PC ALWAYS gave me CTDs and Online Crashes with ArmA1, I'm impressed at the smoothness and endurance of ArmA2

PC: XP Pro 32bit : Intel 2.13 Duo : 2GB Ram : 8800GTS 640MB : 1680x1050 : Most settings; Normal

Main Reason I still love the OFP/ArmA games: The HUGE HUGE flexibility and strength within both Mission making and Addon making.

Its not really a game, its more of an Entertainment and Hobby Package ;)

Its moves like this that keep the torrent/game pirating software alive.

I am completely satisfied with ARMA 2, I have been playing BF2 since it's inception and I for one am glad for the change. Sure the game is not without problems, some servers I went on I could play for hours some servers I could only play for 15 minutes then my rig would shut down and reboot. I fixed this by turning my fan in CCC up to 60% and now there are no shut down problems. I get lag in the coop evolution servers but no lag in the CO30 Domination west servers. I have seen people saying about the all seeing AI which I have also noticed but in the maps there is allways a helicopter flying over so I am guessing they have a radar on to let the AI know where we are. I bought ARMA when it came out and couldn't play it with the aiming deadzone, even when it was set to zero it still didn't seem right. ARMA 2 has fixed this. So apart from the graphical issues of taking a few seconds to load the graphic details in the first city map when spawning and sometimes in night vision the disco lights going off this is a great game.

Actually you are wrong. ARMA2 is currently on position 4 in the UK sales charts, right after WOW Lich King.

Wrong about what exactly? nothing you have said conflicts with anything I said. Saying that the game is no.4 in UK sales charts tells us nothing about how many sales have been lost to bad publicity and stories of a flawed, bug ridden game being released.

You would expect to pay £35 for a newly released PC game in the UK, the fact that it is available for under £20 at a lot of retailers already - less than a month after release tells us more about the marketing situation ArmA2 is now at.

Where exactly? I looked on ebay and found 23 games as of now and Amazon.com only 1 used copy. Amazon.co.uk have 7 used copies, Amazon.de have 17 copies and so on. Doesn't really seem like lots. You make it sound like 50% of the copies sold are now for sale.

The rest probably went straight back to the shop -LOL. I cannot belive you went to them sites and counted them -Lmao. Maybe they stopped selling them once they realised the game has had a big price drop since it's launch.

Ok, I shouldn't have used the secondhand sales on ebay and amazon as a guide to how well the game is doing. I guess what I should of done is ask someone to count the number of complaints in these forums instead - Do feel free to do this if you feel up to such a task.

When I get a steady frame rate of no less then 35Fps I will be a happy bunny. I played this game last night and got just 13-24 Fps and that's with all the tweaks on here that people have suggested. Seriously, if this game drops anymore frame rates then it will be like looking at a photo album.

As usual with BIS, this game is just perfect... A really nice evolution, one more time.

Or will be as soon the "receiving bug" is fixed, quiet unplayable for me ;(

I still trust BIS support, wait and see...

Would be for me to if I could get more then 13-25 Fps. How many Fps are you getting? I am just curious since you say the game is perfect.
