Shyzar 10 Posted June 28, 2009 I just got the game and one thing I noticed is my accuracy is absolutely horrible. And I can say for sure that it is most likely not my skills, as in the demo, as well as the first mission of the campaign, I can hit targets fine. But any other time, the accuracy is really bad. I can go prone with the unsilenced M4 and I can fire at a soldier 200 meters away and I miss pretty much all the time. Even closer than that, the accuracy is bad. In the demo, I could hit targets at the same range within the first two shots; not so with the full game. Also, with the demo, the M9 in the training mission range can hit thing reliably, but in the full game, the M9 is literally like a really inaccurate shotgun in basic training. Just to test the accuracy, I went prone, aimed down the sights at the center target, and fired my whole clip. I did not hit the middle target once (I did hit two other side targets though...) and one bullet actually hit the ground right in front of my face. In the first mission with the silenced M4, I can hit targets as good as I did in the demo. I am getting really frustrated with the accuracy because I can barely get any kills unless I am right in the AIs' faces. Any assistance or explanation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Shyzar
Raznor09 10 Posted June 28, 2009 sounds like u activated FADE, whichs means you have a cracked or pirated copy. FADE is a system to discourage and make cracked games unplayable. and if u have a legit copy then u might of modified its directory or something liek that, which will also activate it. GenghisKhan 10 Posted June 28, 2009 Well if its not the above, then try aiming higher. Arma 2 has bullet drop which is very noticable over 800-1000 meters. See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:M855_drop_during_25-meter_zeroing_trajectory_M16A2_M4.jpg
thedudesam 10 Posted June 28, 2009 Looks like someone's too poor to buy the game, went and pirated it and activated FADE, OR you suck at aiming.
Shyzar 10 Posted June 28, 2009 Yeah, I did modify the directory and a few files. I just uninstalled and will try again on a clean install.

Starfire 10 Posted June 28, 2009 hello guys/gals i am new to arma 2 never played arma 1 i have played bf2 and americas army and yes i suck at both of them but i enjoy playing them still If you found bf2 and AA difficult, you'll find the learning curve in Arma 2 to be much steeper. Do keep in mind that those games are very different from Arma 2, though. If you're looking for the new latest military-themed multiplayer shooter, Arma 2 might disappoint. i bought the game from steam so it should be legit i am already giving up on the game after 3 days just way rto hard of a game to play for me to many buttons...lol is there a keyboard control list some where so i know what the buttons are for everything? When you downloaded the game from Steam, it should have come with a pdf manual. That includes a list of keyboard controls. If you don't have software to read pdf files, google for Adobe Acrobat Reader and download that.
vshadow 0 Posted June 28, 2009 I do miss the nice little card with all the controls on it that I got in ofp. :( If you go in to options and controls that gives you all the controls, you can even edit them. Do what I did in the old ofp and arma games, write down the controls you know you will need but not all the time or ones you forget easily on to a piece of paper and keep it at hand for quick reference works a charm. ;)

MehMan 0 Posted June 29, 2009 Newfags gtfo. Instead of asuming that he's got a torrented copy he might just be using a nodvd crack, which I can understand since I hate switching DVDs around because of copy protection. luckly BIS will probably remove the CD check in the future. You will miss out on a great game. If the controls are overwhelming then learn them a small step at a time. Start off with the very basics: Movement: Walk forward: w Walk backward: s Step left: a Step right: d Run: Double-tap w Prone: z Crouch: x Stand up: c Shooting: Switch weapons: f Scope/Iron sights: right mouse button Fire: left mouse button Reload: r Interaction: Scroll through actions list: mouse wheel Select action in actions list: middle mouse button or enter These are just off the top of my head, but they will get you started, when you master the above, go into the ArmA 2 "options" menu then "controls" and learn a few more keys. Have fun! i also cant hit targets in basic training firing range and it seems laggy to me in training is that possible without playing online? the only thing after 3 days of playing i passed was the jump....LoL Also, post your computer specs(CPU, graphics card, total memory, operating system, etc.), you may be experiencing performance problems due to a slow PC. Jimmy the Saint 10 Posted June 29, 2009 Try to hold the alt key while you are aiming - It will hold your soldiers breath. It might also be easier to hit while you are in third-person view.
