I use to get occasional CTDs without error message some time into the game. Since 1.02 the CTD has become a system freeze, and has gone from 1-2hours of gameplay before it hits to a few minutes now (gradually to this point).

sounds similar to mine and Wolfbite´s problems...

freeze/reset after some 20 minutes of play. (in my case)

seams i can play for far over an hour on Utes but not more then 25min on Chernarus.

So 9 numbers is how it should be, I got 2 gig ram so what do you recomend i set it to?

My arma 2 default setting is 805072896 (800mb) and that i have used. I also have 2gb mem on dual channel.

I'm just playing in the editor and all I'm getting is endless CTDs and total lockups. I don't have a stellar PC but it is a reliable one.

with just two AI and a trigger the game can crash or freeze, I carn't say if this happened before 1.02 as I've only ever tried it with 1.01 + 1.02 patch.

Right now it's not even worth trying anymore, I haven't messed any of the files or used addons.

That means 59 mb. :confused:

Try changing that to like 1gb for starters and try again.

Err... I'm running XP with 1GB RAM only - so what should I set this nonLocalVram to?

That's a bit low for a game like this. Try 250000000.

I have to escape to menu to get rid of blur that occurs after being in the menu, which I did not have prior to the patch.

Stuttering and crazy frame drops in certain areas. e.g. Factory at chernagorsk

Amazing game non the less. :) This is the kind of immersion and realism I was hoping for one day in gaming. Super duper.

Bringing back regressive hereditary memories from WWII. lol I am nuts.

As I don't know how it was before the patch I can't answer the poll :)

but 2 bugs I've noticed are:

1. Ocasionally on multiplayer the symbol for healing comes up when near a chopper, & in the action menu "Heal at ..." comes up, when I scroll & click on this, it CTDs.

2. Admitadly, I'd been playing for hours but then I just got a seemingly random CTD while flying the UH-60 FFAR.

Is there an error log that would have been created somewhere?

Just a quick question.

Looked at you specs, you overclock your cpu? Have you checked the temps of your system, could it be overheating causing your freezing?

Yes, I overclocked my CPU and GPU, but no overheating, I checked that already, I dont even have default cooler on CPU - I have AC Freezer 7 Pro.

im now pretty sure it´s a memory issue in my case...

i just played for over an hour on Chernarus with only a USMC soldier (me) and the ACM module and it worked fine..

until i viewed the map and scrolled it towards the main aribase on Chernarus (the big airport that is).

as soon as i zoomed in there and where close enough to view buildings on the map the system restarted..

could it be something there that cause massive system memory overload?

in the south east part of the airport.

oh, and where can i find Arma 2 .rpt files?

i guess it should say something about it there if such file is created..

Probably the main issue remaining for me (amongst things that I just dont like, which im not going to mention) is the way the vegetation pops up infront of me all the time, and how many trees and bushes appear to be blocky and poorly defined. As i move the whole landscape seems to vegitate with new rapid growth.

Now it might be that my PC aint up to the job, so it might not be something a patch can fix, but I do not have the same issue in arma 1, neither did I when i formerly had a less powerful PC for that game.

i also noticed this (texture lag?).

tried defrgament, dont help that much, also tried to tweak settings, but hasn't help, and dont really affect my fps.

i also get random crashes, sometimes when i try to save game.

arma 1 runs fine.

I just got my new pc today :D I installed and patched straight away so I could not compare however there seems to be some cases when the game slows down a bit. I have experienced this before too on my.. older pc, which ran the game badly anyway.

I placed severals flying planes and some opfor tunguskas on map and watch the air 2 ground fight and it at some points slowed down.

Windows Vista Premium

Intel Core 2 Duo T6400

4GB DDR2 SDRAM - 667 MHz

NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT - 1 GB

i also have a huge amound of "error cannot load sound" entries.. but they are not from the last reset..

no other stuff at all in the mission.

Can you please test again with recently updated 1.02.58134? It will most likely not fix your problem, but there are some additional diagnostics in place which should hopefully tell me more about what is happening there.

yeah, now it resets after 5 minutes instead of 20 minutes..

not at this particular time no...

the .rpt quote is the complete rpt entry from this last crash..

so maybe it´s not the game at all but lack of memory in my comp (though i have 2Gb wich should be enough)

i dont notice any kinds of slowdowns or similar before the system reboots, just a small freeze (like 3 seconds and then the system restarts)

Been getting crashes with this latest patch, when I never had one crash before. Crashes to desktop with appcrash message. arma.exe isn't running in taskmanager, but when I try to start arma up again it takes a long time before responding with (paraphrased) "use the original CD and not a backup of it". I'm of course using the original. A second attempt will say something along the lines of "CD verification timed out"

Using nVidia 186.158 driver, 8800GT 512MB, Vista 64bit, 16GB memory, 8 core Xeon system.

Previous 1.02 patch, no problems all worked very well no crashes.

New 1.02 patch, "game" (actually it reports graphic driver has stopped working) will crash randomly within 10-20 minutes regardless of what I do.

No other changes made to the system, same missions (both sp, mp, editor).

I tried one by one every video setting within the game to see if anything makes any difference and no change, still crashes.

Not sure whats different with this patch vs the previous one but it stopped the game from being playable here.

EDIT:

Retesting a bit. I used to play with -winxp -nosplash as toggle. With -winxp it starts stutter, textures starts missing (huge areas goes gray etc) and crashes after 15mins approx. Without -winxp toggle it loads, but almost no textures is showing up just about everything is missing. Togging any video setting to low/off etc doesnt make a difference. Forcing AF/AA off in driver dont help either.

I have had a stability problem in 1.02 which I was able to resolve:

Description: After about 10-30 minutes of driving or flying around Charnarus, I would get major slowdowns and graphics corruption when I got near an urban area like Chernogorsk or even a smaller town.

Hardware:

- Intel Q6600 (overclocked to 3.2GHz)

- NVidia GTX285 with 1GB DDR3 RAM (not overclocked)

- 4GB DDR2 (PC6400) RAM (not overclocked)

- Windows 7 x64

Because my gfx card has 1GB of memory, I had video memory set to "Default" in game. This worked fine until 1.02, where the problem started. Changing the video memory setting to "Very High" fixed the problem for me. :)

The problem itself was actually very strange. When the graphics corruption started, my framerate would slow to a crawl (3-4fps) and several textures seemed to go completely black (grass) or white (buildings). After a few seconds, the game would seem to minimize. I could still hear in-game sound and the game icon was visible on the desktop, but it was impossible to restore it. I had to end the arma2 process in the task manager.

Note: This is/was not an overheating problem. I have four high-performance 120mm system fans (3x case, 1x CPU) and I have tested my system stability extensively using Prime95. Even after three hours of 100% load (on a warm day), my CPU temperature is stable at 55°c. I also use RivaTuner to increase the fan speed of my GTX285, so that it never gets hotter than 65°c. I monitor my CPU and GPU temperatures in-game on my keyboard (G15) while playing, so I'm 100% sure there is no problem in that area.

Im still getting having this exact problem with the latest build. Haven't been able to find anything that fixes it.

Alt-Tab in and out... works for me, but yeah seems to be a vidram leak ?
