WIP: Stuff you are working on 2!

I would never use O2 for unwrapping anything more complicated than a cylinder....unless you have a masochist desire...

Cylinders are supposed to be easy? :confused:

I've had the most trouble with them. lol

blender is free

I've tried it, but was missing Python so I couldn't do hardly anything. That and the interface wasn't as easy as O2, so I gave up. :p

cylinders are automatically unwrapped when created. all you have to do is scale and arrange them :S

O2 never did that for me... -_- So I had to attempt it the hard way, piece by piece and match the faces up.

I was just reading back thinking how could you miss the pics until I saw your post LOL.

Good to see a YAK-38 though, it seems to be the ugly duckling of most Soviet fighters in that it's not often modelled.

The latest Blender doesn't require python to be installed, and has a nice new UI, i'd say it's worth a second look

Finally got it UV mapped, special thanks to RKSL Rock for practically holding my hand throughout the process. :D

I did an Ueber quick texturing job, that still has the UV lines. I'm stoked!

Still need to do the stock and barrel, but they're getting their own section, on account of them needing transparency.

Working on adding some more stuff to the CDF, first off I have a CDF Camo T-55.

I'm going to have to spend more time on the quality of the CDF roundel on the side, try to make it look more dirty/scratched up.

Do you guys think the colours are pretty good, or are some adjustments required?

Does my 40mm grenade vest look ok right now, specifically the bottom middle button which is really screwed up. The projection came out bad and I don't know if I want to wrestle with 3ds Max and a 3 mil hp to project it again. The rest of the texture work isn't done yet, I'm just concern with the bottom button. It really bothers me but if everyone else thinks it's ok then I'll continue with what I have.

it is indeed a bit weird., especially since the waviness is only on the left side of the vest, not on the entire bottom. In general, fixing this shouldn't take all that much, it's either because of the projection being a bit to large, padding to small or a anything in between (seems the Uvs are set properly anyhow). I guess a editing manually the projection cage in that part would sort this thing out pretty quickly for you.

either way, while not a big deal breaker, i would definitely try to fix it if i were you

Working on the CDF SU-34 (obviously not done yet :))

Having a real hard time telling between the colours via the texture sheet. The belly colour of the plane is SOOOO close to the ones on top so it's hard to catch them properly.

First attempt in making a 3D model.

GAZ Tigr.

Im starting out in 3ds, and are getting tremendous amounts of help here specially from 'Abs'.

I have hopes for this to at least get it working and learn the whole process from this model. However I do not expect it, I have a bad habit of going beserk and throw it away when it wont do as I want it to or get too stuck. :p

Ok got the CDF SU-34 further complete. It's still missing a few spots. The colours on the two tail fins (the vertical ones) are a different colour from the wing green, but they literally use the same colour in photoshop. Not too sure what's causing that, any ideas?

Maybe you need to make a new smdi map?

I'm not too familiar with the terminology yet, what does the SMDI map do?
