Think ive triggered FADE

Recommended Posts

No..lol he's right not only threads but just posts that people make. "omfg i used language patch i think it triggered FADE", FADE is only triggered when something interferes with the ARMA2.EXE only. Ther are too many people saying that.

Do you guys not remember how the early sound mods for Arma required you to unpack weapons.pbo and replace files in it? That shit never triggered FADE.

Then what is going on? Do you have documents showing BIS didn't improve on this feature as well?

What happened to my install? It has all the symptoms, and a simple change seemed to fix it. What else could it be? My aim was massively off across multiple retries, no running, prone position, no sway, holding breath, zoomed or unzoomed. I'm at a loss to figure out what other ghost in the machine caused this.

FADE raped monkeys at the local zoo and then faded away...

Thanks for the reply guys.

I just thought that it was a bit weird that i had those framedrops only at certain times, when before it was good, and sometimes bullets seemed to go all over the place.

I was just wondering how i could detect if it had been triggered or not, and i got my reply.

Guess this thread may be closed :)

Hi all

Simple solution.

If your a pirate uninstall the pirate copy and buy the game, install legal copy.

If you want to run a legal copy of ArmA II in a different form to how you bought it. Do not alter original ArmA files use MOD folders instead.

Here is the official BIS Wiki explanation of MOD folders:

English Files with German Version... And no fade. Imagine that I must be lucky or something. :) Come on guys really. Think about. They are PBO FIles....

But to be honest the best way to do it would be to use a mod file. That way you don't have to always switch back and forth with the English and German Files for patches. Fade no worries either way.

Funny how the devs never come on talking about fade... Think about it. LOL.

If fade Exist and someone is activating its because its not a legal copy. That simple.

Has anyone tried using the English patch(es) as a mod rather than actually replacing the files? If you do you wouldn't accidentally overwrite the original ones and it would still work and not trigger FADE.

How would you install the files as a Mod??

EDIT: Thanks Walker just reading now!

Hi Boggyboy

Also this has been written

Create a new folder inside C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2 and call it @English. Inside it, create an AddOns and Dta folder. Place the language patch files into the proper folders as stated in the readme. Then go to your ArmA II shortcut and add to the end -mod=@English. That will launch it as a mod folder. Replace the backed-up German language files in the folders they used to be in too. That way FADE won't activate.

I can not guarantee it will work in all cases as I do not know where your "...\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2" is on your system but you can see the concept.

Also since they are unofficial we cannot be sure what the different unofficial Language patches may have done, especially as some of the sources may be questionable.

Doesn't fade also turn you into a bird and says nice birds don't fly away or something after 10-15 minutes of play?

I've never gotten that bird thing, but When i shoot my sidearm.... it goes all over the place.

I also used english files.

Same, been playing ArmA 2 since i got it with the unofficial language patch, have absolutely no problems. PBO's don't alter FADE, i'v even opened the PBOs to see what kind of code and its nothing there to activate FADE.

The FADE code wouldn't be in the PBOs, it would be in the arma2.exe, and I agree with Scrub and the others: it's totally possible that replacing original PBOs now triggers it. It's a simple matter for the game to check the PBOs against their signatures. That's why it's important to use mod folders. :)

Whatever, it doesn't hurt at all to use mod folders instead of replacing existing PBO, and this way you're sure of the installation, FADE being triggered by PBO changing or not.

Replacing the language files triggers FADE. PERIOD. On a fresh, clean install, everything is great. Replace the language PBOs, everything seems normal until I pull out my M9 and can't hit the broadside of a barn from a few yds away. Then after a day or two the sniper rifle starts going off, then I can't steer a parachute.

Put original language pbos back, ran the english language as a mod, suddenly all the sidearms work again, and all the other FADE symptoms stop. It doesn't matter if it doesn't change the .exe, obviously they have something to detect the signatures of all the files for consistency.

This whole conversation is overshadowed by the fact that BIS seem to be taking a strong stance on the use of language mods and referring to the modification as reverse engineering, as per ruled out by the EULA. If it's any consolation its re-jogged my memory of learning German at school, haha

They may be using FADE as a kind of cheat protection with the .pbo files, to make sure multiplayer is controlled better.

Hi all

Fade as you call it has always been part of the OFP/ArmA anti Pirate/Cheat solution for BIS. It is done so that the cracker is fooled into thinking their crack works, so they distribute it, then all their followers turn against them because they are seen as incompetant.

You only want to add the mod folder to the target line not both. the target line should look like:-

"E:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" -mod=@English

The Start in line, stays the same.

Actually the followers blame BIS as they see these FADE features as bugs, go figure .

While standing still in crouch position there is a slight weapon sway, and due to the non parallax free sights the reticle will become offset. This does not happen while standing. It might be unlikely, but could this be the cause for a few of the FADE paranoia cases ? :)

I'm thinking so. They are blaming it on language patches lol. When I have them and absolutely no effects of FADE. I mean they are just PBOs after all. If these activate FADE. Then i recomend people not to use Addons since they are PBO's too.
