echo1 0 Posted June 16, 2009 Well enough, but it's a pretty mediocre card to pair with such a fast CPU.
killerwhale 1 Posted June 16, 2009 How well would this computer run ArmA 2?http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229083R This System rocks but the video card sucks :D What do people think about my system Windows XP MCE SP3 CPU Q9450 @2.66 GHz 2.00 GB of DDR3 RAM Radeon HD 4890 1 GB will I play everything @ High Settings? lot of people say you'll have to add more RAM but my motherboard doesnt support any more ram. When I bought it, I didnt know about the RAM issue it had Now what do you think?
echo1 0 Posted June 16, 2009 Are you sure it can't support more than 2GB? Is it some kind of HTPC system? Unless it can only hold one stick of DDR3, it should be able to support 4GB at least.
S7_Mega 10 Posted June 16, 2009 You should do ok killerwhale, but if you overclocked your cpu to 2.8GHz-3.0GHz you will run better.

CinnamonPun 10 Posted June 16, 2009 Well enough, but it's a pretty mediocre card to pair with such a fast CPU. does well enough mean medium-high settings?
imrik70 10 Posted June 16, 2009 im not sure if this is the right section but, i do not know if my PC is good enough to play this game system specs: Processor: Intel® Core2 Duo CPU E8500 @ 3.16GHz (2 CPUs), ~3.2GHz Memory: 3070MB RAM Hard Drive: 212 GB Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 Monitor: Generic PnP Monitor Sound Card: NVIDIA® nForce Audio thanks for any reply
S7_Mega 10 Posted June 16, 2009 Wrong section, but your in very good shape as long as your hard drive isn't near capacity.
imrik70 10 Posted June 16, 2009 what section should i put in
echo1 0 Posted June 16, 2009 Yeah. Probably more towards medium though. And it depends on what resolution you run the game at. If you're running it at 1680x1050 or lower you should be able to get a pretty nice balance of performance and quality.
echo1 0 Posted June 16, 2009 There's a "System specifications" stickied thread in General. Always search before you open a thread :)
xclusiv8 10 Posted June 16, 2009 I guess ill tell everyone what kind of pc i have aswell. echo1 0 Posted June 16, 2009 How does the 4870x2 play with ArmA 2 ? and is it worth getting over the 4890?or how about even a GTX295? What I want to do is to upgrade my PC just to play ArmA2 at high settings, would just like to know peoples opinions / knowledge. How does this setup sound? Intel quad core I7 - 950 Corsair 6 GB Kit (1600MHZ) Soundblaster XFI Fatality Champion Gigabyte GA-EX58-EXTREME No point in getting a 4870X2 over a 4890. And no point in getting a i7 950 over a i7 920.
celery 8 Posted June 16, 2009 Seriously man, your computer has no hope.
Noraf 0 Posted June 16, 2009 the onboard sound i'm not sure about, the cpu should do fine ( i got the 8400, and have no problems with arma2 ), your gfx card i have no idea about, but i'm using a 8800gt card, and it runs very nice ( with a 3,4km view distance )
echo1 0 Posted June 16, 2009 Seriously man, your computer has no hope. Whose computer are you referring to? the onboard sound i'm not sure about Good thing it doesn't have anything to do with the game's speed :)
celery 8 Posted June 16, 2009 Whose computer are you referring to? OP's. It's good that he made this thread, otherwise he might have bought A2 and found out that his PC is way too weak.

GenghisKhan 10 Posted June 16, 2009 Will my system be able to run ARMA 2 fairly well at high-ish settings? E6750 @ 3.3Ghz 4Gb DDR2 OCZ Blade 1066Mhz EVGA Geforce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked (650/1400/1065) Windows XP 32 bit 24inch Acer 1080p monitor
=Spetsnaz= 0 Posted June 16, 2009 Will my system be able to run ARMA 2 fairly well at high-ish settings?E6750 @ 3.3Ghz 4Gb DDR2 OCZ Blade 1066Mhz EVGA Geforce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked (650/1400/1065) Windows XP 32 bit 24inch Acer 1080p monitor yep it should be fine probably medium-high in my guess ---------- Post added at 10:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:33 PM ---------- I thought you meant to say that the demo had been released already.. Damn. How did you make your RAM slower yet your CPU faster? Does the HT link slow RAM down? And what sort of RAM are you using? i had to drop HT to x4 and set the mhz from 800 to 667, i have 4Gb Patroit DDR2 800 Mhz. XP 32bit only recognizes 3gb ---------- Post added at 10:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:36 PM ---------- I assume it's got something to do with the multipliers. CPU speed is measured FSB / 4 * CPU Multiplier, RAM is measured FSB / 4 * RAM multiplier. In my case the stock FSB was 1066 with a 9x CPU and 3x RAM multiplier, giving me 2.4GHz CPU and 800MHz RAM. When I overclocked my CPU I upped the FSB to 1600 and lowered the CPU multiplier to 8x, giving me 3.2 GHz. If I had left the RAM multiplier on 3x that would have clocked my RAM at 1200MHz, which is obviously way too much. So I lowered the RAM multi to 2x and everything was fine. Not sure what the case is with Russianguy's clock speeds but I guess he's having trouble with the multipliers. :) Russianguy, would you mind posting your FSB, CPU and RAM multipliers? let me see.. I suppose CPU Multiplier is set at x15 CPU FSB is set at 220Mhz so 15 x 220 = 3300 but only comes up at 2993 CPU volt set at 1.401 Ram not so sure about but the HT is set at x4 and 667Mhz speed. i don't know how to find the multiplier? ---------- Post added at 10:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:40 PM ---------- ive been playing Crysis lately and have been playing on all high settings very well at average 25-35 but reach max as 45 and low as 20, at a 1024x768 resoultion. Im just wondering if somehow also ArmA 2 runs at similar fps?
echo1 0 Posted June 16, 2009 Correct me if Im wrong (probably should know this stuff, I've been an AMD user for about four years now) but I thought the HT multiplier was only for the CPU, and that RAM speed is affected by the FSB (or whatever they call it on AMD motherboards). Are you 100% sure that your RAM isn't running at 800MHz? (ie. getting CPU-z or the like and checking it)
=Spetsnaz= 0 Posted June 16, 2009 k lets see DRAM Frequency 366.0 Mhz ? I also checked Clock Speeds Core Speed: 3293.8Mhz Multiplier x15 Bus Speed: 219.6 Mhz HT Link: 878.4Mhz does that help?
echo1 0 Posted June 16, 2009 And sure enough... it's running at ~730MHz instead of 800. Unfortunately I don't have much experience in doing heavy overclocks with the Athlon 64s. Maybe someone else will. (or you could try a forum like Overclock.net)
