Its a viable military tactic. Good for lowering the morale of the enemy. However, the mission maker should put the spawnpoints where it is safe.

If you really want super fast I/O (input/output) to a disk, check out RAM SSDs. These things run wholly on RAM modules (eg DDR2 ramsticks). They cost a bomb too..

You can't patch the Steam version using the standalone patches, duh.. You must be new to Steam. Games on steam get patched automatically - you don't need to apply any patch manually at all. Bohemia is in charge of publishing the patch updates to steam. If you looked in the forum sticky (look UP !) you would've seen the "where to buy" thread. The game you buy from STEAM is registered to your steam account name. There are no such thing as 'limited activations'. You can re-download the game as many times as you wish for the registered steam account. You just need to remember your steam account name & password, email address. Yes, you can. Instructions on backup here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8794-YPHV-2033 BUT, only one PC can play ARMA 2 at one time. You can install all your PCs with ARMA 2 using the same steam account, but you cannot login to the same steam account on all the PCs at the same time.
