Meanwhile just enjoy the various beta i released and play something else if the current ww4 is not enough for you. I don't understand the problem, if you are making a mission for the mod, unless you are adding addons to the mission, all the people will need to play your mission is the mod. Main problem with that is that not everyone may have installed OFP in the same default directory as me. Providing a shortcut that would then point to the wrong path would certainly confuse more than help. I'm for that :bounce3: Sometime ago I was talking with -=URR=-Martin about a WW4 server. He was waiting for the new version to come out. Maybe someday it will become a reality. sanctuary 19 Posted March 24, 2010 new everon recon corps with camo obviously very inspired from DPCU and DPDU : Currently working on the new everon antiterror teams (the one that will use cadpat for woodland that was posted several pages ago and not yet decided for desert) and their base ump45 weapon. Then once they are done, will finalize the desert island with dma lybia vegetation, the ecp and wgl config versions and 2.0 should be finally out. I hope it will not take as long anymore, can't believe it is more than 2 years i am working on this. after release plan : A little expansion pack with winter soldiers and winter islands will come. Then way later (will be an awfull lot of work), another expansion pack with more vehicles. Hopefully i will get some time to build some missions after 2.0 release. Right now only the turret is visible, while I think it should be something like this. The AAVP's seem fine however. Nothing serious, but I'd say it's worth fixing. sanctuary 19 Posted March 28, 2010 I wanted to get a steyr AUG A3 Because it features a nice rail on top of it that makes the modularity of the weapons fitting what i had done for other ww4 ones . So using Blender as both a learning session and a working one, i modelled a test version that while not really looking like the real thing, is reminding enough of it, using the very interesting Blender functions lacking from O2 and simplifying my life. Once i will be done with this, i should then import the finished model and its lods that Blender is helping me to do (the Blender polycount reducer script is really great, as it keep the UV) in O2 to get the weapon OFP ready. The latest stable 2.49b I am not a fan of the 2.5x , being an alpha it lacks many functions of 2.49b yet and the completely redesigned 2.5x interface is more obstructive than actually helping me, the simpler one from 2.49 works a lot better for my needs. No such effect are used, that's just the Blender renderer that looks nice i think. I do it the old way getting the OBJ in anim8or for the dummy KDATA and export in 3DS O2 importable, i write the step by step so it can certainly help some people with it : -Export your model from Blender (already UV mapped for this example, but should work even if you have not mapped it) as a .OBJ -Open Anim8or and wait until the real menu appear -Click on Object -> Import, file type-> Wavefront (*.obj) and import the .OBJ model -Once done, select the whole model (edit-> select All or CTRL+A) -click on Options -> Materials and double click on the empty "New" part -In the window coming, click on Textures, click the "..." button next to "Diffuse" -click on Load Texture, select your texture (if i remember well, anim8or don't support TGA, so better use a JPG by example), Open. -the texture name should be added to the list (by default there is "none" and "checks"), select it then click OK 3 times until you come back to the anim8or interface. -Now the empty part that had "New" wrote on it will have a preview of your texture mapped to a sphere. -Click Apply and the texture will then appear on your model as you have mapped it in Blender. -Now click on Options->Debug and click on Add Dummy 3DS Kdata. -Click now on Object->Export and save your modified 3DS file -Load O2 and import the 3DS -Once done, just change the texture path to point to your PAA or PAC, and it will work nice : Or you can use the arma beta O2 executable that featured the import OBJ function and the Export "old P3D format" one to get the object OFP workable, it has been reported to be working. Or hope as i do that one of the genius behind it will complete the Blender P3D tool that has been reported to be in the work, would be even better than all these import/export stunts in anim8or (Or wait until hopefully someone manage to finalize the Blender p3d support) Looks nice though the amount of faces seems to be unnecessary high for such a simple model. Don't worry too much about the face count, as i said that's a learning session too, i made some bad choices when using extrude, creating tons of unecessary face (i could have made it better). I never release anything that i have not optimised and reducing the faces manually in Blender is fortunately easy, by example after a few time : before after And i am not finished with it, what's great is that it is very easy to correct the UV mapping in Blender when removing unecessary faces. The UV mapping adjustements in Blender works a bit like the Unwrap tool that Fab. released several month ago, with many more functions too. That blender program looks nice I am gonna try it, do you can you model to realistic scale??
