Blackhawk 0 Posted January 9, 2009 Hey all! The British forces mod's objective is to make realistic weapons and infantry for the British armed forces. Here are some screenshots : British Infantry ( Woodland DPM ) These infantry units will be fully customizable using simple script command's in the 'init' field allowing you to have a number of diffrent sections with only actualy having a small number of P3D models in the pbo wich will save HD space and minimize the mod size . These 'Flash Badges' can also be customized to your own spec so that now all clans can be wearing their Badges on their arms . Aswell as this the units also have other custom features such as Cyalume's ( glow sticks ) wich can be attached & removed using the action menu on each unit . Other features such as Respirator's and googles will be available. Picture Showing British Infantry & Working Cyalume http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp132/chris_a1986/bfm_ukinf1.jpg UK Special Forces UKSF units will be a generic SF and will come in many varients such as Woodland DPM , Desert DPM , CRW and Civilian clothing . They will feature all the usual SF kit aswell as a few special features such as improved body armour allowing your unit to take more damage to the torso area , ration packs to improve your health on long range patrol missions and much more . charliereddog 9 Posted January 10, 2009 What's the point of this when the PUKF stuff will be available afaik soonish?
da12thMonkey 1943 Posted January 10, 2009 What's the point of this when the PUKF stuff will be available afaik soonish? Just because there's already a bunch of people making British stuff doesn't mean someone else can't do likewise. Making addons is more enjoyable to some people than playing the game, so they should quite rightly be able to make whatever they want. Besides, who said UKF would release anything 'soon'? It doesn't sound like anything one of our members would say since we don't have anything resembling a release schedule. @ BFM team: like Imutep said, your pictures are a bit dark and a bit small. I'd like to see some clearer ones.

I'd like to see some clearer ones. I agree 100%. many people take pride in making things for a game. Personally, I think it's awesome that more things from the UK and other countries appear in Arma, reguardless if they already exist or not. There are already so many American types of addons out there. And what is to say, that these units will be liked more or less by the Community? Everyone has their own taste. I'm looking forward to both UKF and Pavehawks British mods.
SD_BOB 10 Posted January 10, 2009 Like the look of the cylume, would be very handy. Any chance you guys are making a firefly? Not sure if a proper IR strobe is doable in ArmA but would be nice. In term of research, PM me with any specific details you need.
EddiePrice 16 Posted January 10, 2009 Can't really make out the second and third pictures but good to see more people working on British stuff.
eagleusa 0 Posted January 10, 2009 Too many UK mods Why don't you unite to creat a full one like OFRP or BW?
MontyVCB 0 Posted January 10, 2009 What other UK mods are there? Faulkner was doing 1950s-1985 equipment but has stopped work and handed some of his work over to P85. Other than this UKF is the only mod that is doing a British Army specific mod.
BigDave 0 Posted January 10, 2009 Too many UK modsWhy don't you unite to creat a full one like OFRP or BW? He's right, why dont you work on adding something really useful to ArmA, like every type of M4 anyone ever thought of? That, or, crack on with what you're doing, which looks ace so far. The Cylume is a nice idea, but like people say, the pics are a bit dark! That being said though, I'm sure I see a landy lurking in the back of one of those pictures, any chance of a screenie? Gurk 0 Posted January 10, 2009 Ok first off, dont complain theres too many british mods... and why dont we unite, because first off there are only 2 one which is quite big and has been on the go for quite a while and can import their models from OFP... and on the other hand my mod which has to make most stuff from scratch! Not saying UKF wont do this either. Now second thing! I know the pictures are too dark but you'll have to put up with that for now I might be nice and include some new pictures in the next WIP or you might just have to wait untill we release the public beta! Or the full release we havent decided yet. Now this is the last thing im goin to say We do not need beta-testers just as yet. So please do not ask to be one! Cause you won't be allowed to! (Well not yet anyway )

Not saying UKF wont do this either. Just to correct a point, we've already remade most of our stuff from scratch as we just spent the last year making the VBS2 stuff, if it was a simple case of us importing our OFP stuff we'd have released something already Anyway, this isn't a UKF thread. If these guys want to make brit kit then thats fantastic. Its something you enjoy and at the worst case it gives people more choice.
halkrath 1 Posted January 10, 2009 "Too many UK addons" .. right. How many US based addons are there? It's excellent to see all sorts of stuff done by many different people. I'm all for this, and UKF releases.
SaBrE_UK 0 Posted January 10, 2009 Good luck with this project. I'd glad there's more British stuff coming to ArmA.

Messiah 2 Posted January 11, 2009 Always nice to see more bods trying the British side of things, and another good luck wish from a UKF lad. Nothing wrong with more UK addon teams Hopefully you're open for comments on the current work? The Land Rovers, myself being a bit of a lannie porn nut, I shall refrain from mentioning anything seeing as you said they've come along since the last pictures. If you're still using the BIS base model, however, I'd really, honestly, scrap it and start afresh. The BIS model is woefully inaccurate for the British rovers. And a very small thing on the Diemaco 203, Diemaco actually have their own version of the 203: http://www.cybershooters.org/dgca/images/M4/Diemaco203.JPG and to be fully on track, you're looking to produce the SFW weapon these days, so you'll need to modify the barrel and flash as well (obviously if you want to be totally anal, but those are the very few things that distinguish a C8 with an M4.) Good luck gents, and if you're after any ref help on specific vehicles, I can usual help with most.
Gurk 0 Posted January 11, 2009 Sorry, guys those pictures weren't supposed to be shown youll see the new land rovers soon enough.
UNN 0 Posted January 11, 2009 Quote[/b] ]'UNN' very kindly donated the scripts for them afaik. Well I passed on the scripts from a joint collaboration with the Bush Wars Mod, for animating individual selections on pilots in MP & JIP. I suppose the credit might go to the British Forces Mod for the actual application. I thought glow sticks where restricted to the domain of groupies
charliereddog 9 Posted January 11, 2009 Fair enough if that's what you want to do. I honestly don't see the point in reinventing the wheel. Having said that, I have the UKF stuff, or at least a fairly recent version of it so I don't need to worry whatever happens.
