but on this video i still see some darkening/brighter HDR , which was most annoying thing in A1

here in this video it works little better, but there is not shown HDR test - in my opinion it should be made

if they call it ultimate military simulator, than i demand:

T80 for Russians, AK74 instead of AK107, NSV on T72, M40 for USMC, working bulletproof vests and etc.

So, you will not be joining us in future ArmA II gameplay?

Don't ya think your getting carried away with your "demands"?

The frame rate is much more constant than the first edition of ARMA, but you need a very powerful PC with dual core CPU for the minimum configuration and quad core for that recommended, at least 512 MB of RAM and a video card that at least supports the shader model 3.0. Ultimately, ARMA II remains very expensive in terms of hardware due to the large maps and the renewed number of polygons, so you must hold at least cpu dual-core or 3.3ghz quad-core 2.5 ghz.

this may limit me

i have 8800GTS 512, AMD dualcore 6000+, 2 GB corsair 675, Asus M2NESli

if this PC will not hold it, probably i am out, due to economical crysis here , new PC is for me unimaginable

BIS made super environment for sure , cause Chernarus looks super and mega super

but lack of free demo is bad think, to buy game and ... if not work on PC, who will give me back money ? :/

i don't like Arma1 for:

HDR work

fly model - AI crushes into churches, trees, mountains, AI cannot used properly weapons like unguided missles on Mi17

many things

i waited for Arma2 with big hopes, as new game that fixed ALL A1 bugs/lacks , not repeating previous mistakes

T80 for Russians.

What's wrong with the T90? The Russians have a few hundred of them already, and they've stopped buying new T80s.

Thanks for the responses on my campaign question.

I guess BIS won't implement an 'all squad must survive' system unless the gameplay supports that type of thing be possible. Maybe it applies to certain missions only?

Regardless, I'm really liking the look and concept of this game so hopefully BIS can deliver. As an Xbox 360 owner I can assure you that this type of title is sorely lacking in the current crop of available shooters. Ivan Buchta's mention of a basic mission editor for Xbox has me more than a little enticed.

I would expect a 6 year old to get sucked in by advertising/marketing hype, but not a "mature adult"...

Do you complain so much to BMW, Opel, Ford and Volkswagon about their "utlimate driving experience" adverts? Or to any other companies who offer "the best <product name here>" ?

I can only assume you dont watch much tv, since its a pretty - no scratch that - a VERY common advertising tag line...

Hehe, cool, the first time I see that someone is suggesting that watching TV is educating :D :D :D

So you suggest to adapt to the marketing game rather then attempting to change it (with the veeeery limited possibilities)?

Of course, general statements can be personally interpreted in many ways, hence nobody can blame BIS not having a certain feature which is in his opinion mandatory for a simulation but...

...BIS is 100% aware about the limitations of the flight model. Why they don't state in one of the threads treating this issue simply:

"...our flight model works in bla-bla-this way, virtual pilots can only look ahead xxxx metres/miles......and hence react to late on certain obstacles....blaaaaaaaa...and we will implement a totally new model in ArmA 54"

...or something similar.

Not squad, but all Razor team members. Because I think they are represented in later missions aswell.

It's been repeated OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN that VBS1/2 is a product of BIA, or Bohemia Interactive Australia. They are the umbrella corporation responsible for VBS and it's modules, BI itself provides the engine platfrom and probably a myriad of other things, but to the public the company that runs VBS is BIA not BIS.

And oh no, a wrong machine gun on a tank, what a game breaker! I'm more interested in the features of the said machine gun on a tank than the machine gun itself. Like operating it in turned out position only, recoil, maybe even overheating. Then I'd like to see the machine gun itself animated, when I say animated, I mean the belt moving, heck maybe even something more, like a custom reload animation, but that's a bit of a stretch, but having the hands moving along with the gun would be great.

i'd be more concerned about that rather than a wrong machine gun.

I think DM was simply trying to point out that Vilas is taking certain statements much too literally. TV advertisements are a good example of the exaggerated "promises" people should learn not to take seriously.

BIS can write "Ultimate Military Simulator" on the box all they want, but that doesn't really mean anything at all. It's certainly no reason to expect or even "demand" a certain set of features.

T80 - 3000 in service, 2000 in stock, T-90 300 in service, 300 vs. 5000, americans still have M16A1 and LAW M72, why not equiping them in A1 and M72 than ? why not Colt model 635 than ?

the same goes to numbers / probablity of presence /ratio:

Ka50/Mi24/Mi28/Su24/Su25/SU34 etc. there is 12 SU34 and 400 SU24 as far as i read or 16 KA50 vs. 250 Hinds ??

Vilas is taking certain statements much too literally.

It's certainly the ultimate military simulator out of all games available to the public out there at the moment. Well, ArmA is at the moment, but ArmA II, and possibly DR too, will be when it/they is/are released. Unless you want to fork over the extra few thousand Dollars for VBS 2, vilas, you're not going to get anything better for your money than ArmA II. You're far too obsessive over the tiniest of details. If you notice one - fix it yourself. No one is stopping you. You, of all people, should know how to do that.

so maybe it would be easier for BIS to release "engine" and "addonmakers will do all neccesary" and than developer could focus on AI, destruction model and good performance ? but BIS decided other way "many units, many weapons", it would be better to receive solid good working engine with tools and community would do as it was doing in OFP time ?

devloper could spend more time on engine instead of 50 new vehicles and 50 units, which community could do in 1 month

of course they want sell a product, it is natural, but i am furious when i read "ultimate military simulation" again

like i was in A1.00 , when on box i have written such words and i could blow up tank by 3 box of M249 ammo of blow up car by firing in doors or killing unit hidden behind the corner by 2 shots in toe

Now your suggesting that BIS should completly place all their hopes of the game lasting on the community? Its too much of a business risk for BIS to take becuase if they just focoused on the engine and none of the content the game would get bad reviews and not many outside the current community would buy the game. You have to look at it on the company point of view aswell im sure the good BIS devs have some mouths to feed :)

No offence mate, but that sounds a bit naive to me. I mean, if you buy a horror movie with a review quote on the back saying "Seriosly, you'll shit your pants! (Entertainment Weekly)", would you take it back to the store demanding a refund because you didn't soil yourself while watching it? It's called exaggeration, which is not necessarily the same as lying.

Truthfulness aside, how do you know BIS' definition of "Ultimate Combat Simulator" is the same as yours? You obviously care about the addition of certain vehicles in the game, but why should that be important for everyone else? The expression "Ultimate Combat Simulator" does not even imply anything remotely pertaining to the kind of vehicles or units you should expect in the game. Someone could make a space shooter and call it "Ultimate Combat Simulator" and it wouldn't be any more or less applicable than is the case here. :)

EDIT: I've just realized it's "Ultimate Military Simulator". Still, my point stands.

EDIT 2:

i am furious when i read "ultimate military simulation" again

Sorry, but your expectations are just ridiculously high, even for a modern computer game. Sure, some aspects of ArmA1 were annoying and unrealistic, but you seem to expect nothing short of perfection. With that attitude, you will always be disappointed.

Hehe, vilas, it is anyway your "responsibility" to make addons for A2 as in the past - we got used to it :D

But when I check the current screens it takes this time much more effort to compete with the quality of the textures at least.

And one thing is for sure: If BIS needs to create all weapons usual in 2008 for RU and US we would get ArmA 2 in 2035 - maybe.

Well, for the record, Vilas is simply wanting every single little detail like the location of each bolt, washer, nut, and stuff to be in the correct place, wont be a bad thing if you are in aircraft maintentance business:j:

Honestly, it's vilas. This is who he is. Regardless of what he has received in enjoyment from BIS games, he will never be happy. He will always be sitting around, ready to take cheap shots at BIS whenever he feels the opportunity arises.

He has become so narrowly-focused on things that he simply cannot see the forest from the trees.

ArmA, like OFP before it, is the "ultimate military simulator" insofar as a game that allows you to participate at all levels - infantry, vehicles, aircraft - is concerned. I can think of no other game around that allows for what ArmA does. I can think of no other game around that honestly allows you to play out real-world scenarios to the point that it can be used for no-kidding military training (see: VBS2, which is at heart a souped-up ArmA, or see ACE, which is as close as ArmA will get to that).

To sit and get your knickers in a twist over T90 vs T80, or NSV vs whatever... it's totally missing the point. In any case, the game is moddable, as vilas of all people should know, so it's not like he can't just throw in his beloved T80 if he wants to. I guess it's more fun and self-gratifying to him to sit in the forums and constantly complain, complain, complain, and then complain some more whenever the opportunity presents itself.

AVP, year 1999, i spent a lot of time on Aliens vs. Predator and making mods (some released like porno-reskins, porno-sounds, or communist leaders speeches mod)

working flamethrower, working thermovision

MOH AA, old game, but as i remember - i couldn't kill man firing in his arm or toe

genial was Soldier of Fortune - i could fire off hand od enemy, he was alife, but couldn't hold weapon, cause i fired his fingers :D haha :D

Project IGI - big landscapes

You Are Empty, Stalker - big landscapes along with good graphics and blow-up effects,

Max Payne - good objects destruction

Soldier of fortune rain and weather,

those are old games, but they have many things usefull and better than Arma

even OFP - soldiers keep formation, AI uses helicopters, not falling down and not able to use in combat FFAR/ZUNIs like Mi17 or UH60

there are tank games in which destruction model is very complexed

like in Red Faction there was geo-destruction

BIS game has one bigest advantage - addonmakers and open engine in which i can put what i want

You have to put together 7 games just to match ArmA.

Doesn't it say something?

@Dslyecxi, well said :)

OFP/Arma = freedom to do what you want. no other games offer this.

ofcourse, Arma/Arma2 still have problems but let the time to BIS to improve them. Personally i don't want a release soon, September would be good.

But a lot of people want a quick release and no bugs :icon_ohmygod:

Only the time spent to work on Arma2 will be able to erase the bugs, so be patient.

It is pretty simple: vilas needs something to do. He is waiting so long, he can not wait anymore (me to).

Solution: BIS, please give him a demo + free licence + all the tools you have and:

1.) You would not see vilas here for the next 4 weeks cause he is busy with converting his addons to ArmA 2

2.) We might have the 1st vilas addons for the release of ArmA 2 in December 2009 - I am so bad  I meant June 2009 :smileee:

Seriously, they should employ vilas in BIS :)

(list of different games, highlighting certain features)

I assume you're trying to make a point, but I just don't see it. None of those games can hold a candle to the mixture of scale and detail in ArmA1, let alone ArmA2. Do you expect a game that takes place on a 200km² map with hundreds of AI units and players to allow fingers to be shot off of soldiers, or buildings to be breakable down to single bricks?

Like I said, I don't see the point of your post, but if you expect all those features from a game like ArmA2, you might find yourself waiting another decade or so.
