VBS2 coverage on BBC website

Recommended Posts

Hi pathy

I have not to best of my knowledge said anything about the UK Forces module other than that I introduced the original UK Forces Module team to the client and BIA.

You are out by a few years on the BIA marketing contract work I did.

As to being in the loop, have I said anything you think is incorrect? Or anything that you think is mysteriously outside my knowledge. rofl.gif

If you wish to speak to me more on the subject you can PM me or contact me via skype.

Kind Regards walker

That's a good idea. Please clear this in private, otherwise I have to close this thread. I guess you're all old enough.

Fine with me. I've already stated my intent not to pursue this any further, my only wish is for this to get back OT. Cheers Raedor! smile_o.gif

The analogy I use typically is that the rest of the products on the market are like a prefabricated sandbox. They do exactly what the box says, and nothing more. And to a degree, Arma as well falls into that category if you only consider the 'out of the box experience' - standard fare if you browse the forums here.

VBS on the other hand I suggest is like a truck-load of sand. What you do with it, and the results you get from your implementation, are entirely up to you. Possible usage case scenarios :

* Rapid-prototype virtual multimedia presentations

* Blending of presentations and interactive training

* Group procedural training

* Visualization of externally simulated entities

* Visualization in support of systems training

* Common platform for diverse systems

So rather than an 'off-the-showroom' rally car, I'd suggest it's more like a truck load of parts to be used to create an entire driving event.

but if u bought VBS2 would there b any others playing online! y spend so much if ur playing alone? at least arma is in reach of every gamer, lets hope they make arma 2 the same as vbs 2 as much as they can without spoiling the fun an knocking up the cost smile_o.gif also u could have a high end pc but if u check the VBS 2 site the requirements r very low, still on single core CPU's huh.gif

Probably because performance is a priority for military customers, over pretty graphics wink_o.gif

Or more accurately, they are on a budget and do not want to renew their PC park every two years.

VBS2 use with the British Army is featured in the October 2008 issue of Janes Intl. Defence Review. It goes into some detail that the BBC article didn't.

If anyone wants I'll be happy to copy and scan the article and put a link up.

Hi snafu,

please give'em another chance. wink_o.gif

Hints for scan:

- Align better along the borders to reduce aliasing

- scan with ~150 dpi and in greyscales

- don't shrink the result with awry numbers like 33% or 63%. -- Only use 75, 50 or 25% for shrinking.

- Safe as png or GIF with less than 64 colors, or just don't use too high compressed jpeg.

I've really tried hard to read but if you don't know the source it's quite impossible. sad_o.gif

Thx anyway in advance. smile_o.gif

Here it is in PDF format

Readable this time I hope.

Imageshack is being a pain so I'll put a JPEG of it up there tomorrow. Seeing as the scan came out squint I'll do it again when I get my hands back on the magazine.
