    Hi snafu, please give'em another chance. Hints for scan: - Align better along the borders to reduce aliasing - scan with ~150 dpi and in greyscales - don't shrink the result with awry numbers like 33% or 63%. -- Only use 75, 50 or 25% for shrinking. - Safe as png or GIF with less than 64 colors, or just don't use too high compressed jpeg. I've really tried hard to read but if you don't know the source it's quite impossible. Thx anyway in advance.

    @ all mission designers - especially to the ones who are probably doing that on Nogova2: visit our  MAPFACT Page, raedor has released a new MAP_Misc addon with a new "ID-Finder". The basic was made by "SKY", it's very useful and it comes with several filters. Â

    @Sickboy: After trying to support many days and after support of many other ppl here i finally lost my patient. But definately not because of "silliness" (I not called anybody silly! ) but because of some lazy bones. And in second i'm not complaining about special things but i'm hardly understand when ppl complaining about the island after injuring the most basic and best known things in OFP. And you must agree that i HAVE been very patient in the past. Yes, nobody is without failures, I know that. But I'm just a human being, too. There is a border until I can keep my patient. Â Well, let's stop here. I know that some ppl try to get "all" into their OFP. But hey, that never has been possible ever and I cannot make that possible, too. In normal case the island runs fine and there's no need to leave out too many other addons. Please think about that many addons are really little monsters, too. Built up with a huge poly count and huge textures. I don't wonder why some ppl cannot run both. They have to choose what they want: Some pretty and maybe overdosed units or a detailled (and maybe overdosed, too) island. Fullstopp.

    OMG! Anybody who's installing Nogova2 WITHOUT reading the readme should be wrestled all day long around his house - really! All files are well prepared and there's noting to do but to copy and to activate it by a launcher. I'm afraid that hardly any ppl has read the readme and they wildly picked out the files and placed them somewhere without any plan. So there's no wonder about error messages and CTDs. ->Â RTFM! Â Â I've been playing now the island with so many different MODs and Addons together in SP and MP and never i've got any problems! And of course many other ppl do the same without any problems, too. So you can answer by yourself where the problem is. And hey, it should be also clear like glass that ANYBODY have to use Noe2 in MP or NOBODY! And it's sooo easy when you use a MOD folder as suggested in the readme. Does really so many people don't use any launcher to start OFP? I just can't believe it. It's so much easy - just set a check mark to the "@MAP_Noe2" folder and the replacement will start, remove the check mark and all will be original again! There's not one reason to delete and reinstall any file! Dammed, there are really many people outside there who obviously has not any clue about OFP after so many years....*shaking my head* Â

    For the first moment I would guess that the server is at its end of power. Remove every unnecessary funktion of the Mapfact-Init-Logic to reduce the loadout. In near future we will do some own further tests in MP and we will see what happens - please be patient a bit.

    Â to a real-life-soldier-adventure! Â That's been one of my first intentions! Take this challenge and you will find out that gameplay has been improved and got more exiting. Note that the AI can navigate trough the bigger bush groups as well as you can (pathes! ) and that the AI cannot see you if you are hidden into these bushes, too. Same into the new forests: new and much more exactly viewLODs handout the chances between players and the AI to fifty/fifty. But the smaller bushes sometimes contain viewLODs, sometimes not. So you should take care. Â See the advantage: Now it's not longer necessary to construct complicate missions. Just setup one or a few targets for the player, put some DAC on the island and the dinner is done well. Hint: If you play onto Nogova2 it's highly recommended to use ECP because of its random voices to the enemy. You cannot see the opponents but you can HEAR them now - thats very important now. Personally I'm just right now playing Resistance@Nogova2 with ECP again and it's a totally new feeling. Â Â

    Oh guys! If one's unexperienced with OFP I think it would be a very, very good idea to read the readme included!!! NONE has ever said to REPLACE the FILES! Replacement does not mean that, it just says that in the editor one island will "vanish" (but not really) and the new island will take place there instead. There's never, never any reason to put any addon into the res-addon folder or the original addons folder!!! Always keep clean your original folders of OFP and you will be happy all the time.

    Ok, the memory usage has been overall. OFP alone uses ~350MB (Noe2, Res@Noe2, Llauma2, ECP or Finmod) Im just downloading WGL5 to test it. But i would bet that it will work perfect, too. The more time is passing by the more I'm in the opinion that something is going totally wrong with any of your configuration. If you just would look to the CP-thread you could see how many ppl are using Nogova2 AND several really heavy and actual MODs. Btw wonderful and amazing pics there! :-) Edit: Nogova2 + Campaign + WGL5: works! Next candidate will be FFUR6....

    Ok, though I'm not in the opinion that the ominous limit of 512 MB really harm anything i'll give my results to you: My system: > 2 1/2 years old Notebook (!! ) with 3,2 GHz Pentium, 1024Ram, ATI Mobility 9600Pro-128MB. Like you can see I haven't the very best machine for development and playing. XP: 200MB (here and following the values from task-manager) + OFP, Nogova2, one unit placed in editor, ingame: ~550 MB + OFP, Nogova2, Campaign (with Logic), ECP, Llauma2, details normal: 560 MB + OFP, Nogova2, Campaign (With Logic), ECP, Llauma2, details high: ~660MB + OFP, Nogova2, Campaign (With Logic), ECP, Llauma2, details very high: Out of memory! But the point where the "out of Memory" is reached is far more than 750MB! I sugess that it's been over 1024, the installed memory of my Notebook. In former times i had maps running with very high details and the loadout has been over 750MB without problems. Just believe me when I say to you: If your PC and your OFP is configured right the island will run propperly and you CAN run additional MODs! I really don't know what the problem is with your system or OFP but there IS one and not a problem with the island. Otherwise none with much older and less powerful systems could play the island without problems. Thats the logic I can't ignore. I only can say that you could be well advised not to bite into the memory limit because that isn't the issue in normal case. At any time i got this error message I found out that I made a mistake with configuring my OFP. In fact you can distress OFP until it shows only one frame per second but it will run though if all configurations are fine. The first aid in such a case should always be a clean OFP, clean Windows and the lowest settings into preferences and the options. Otherwise you hardly will find the mistake. If the island finally runs you can increase step by step to better settings and more additional MODs. I'm really sorry that i can't help you more. It's always a little bit difficult to make a diagnostic from far....

    Long Bridge & AI: I can tell you that the AI will much more better drive on the bridge than you can! I tested this with several convoys and they all reached the other end perfectly! When I tried by myself I wasn't as successful as the AI was to cross the bridge - I often crashed my car on the borders of the bridge. Oilfield: There are THREE!!! Oilfields! Jeeps: don't know exactly but I guess round about a dozen you can find! Grass: In deed, it's CWC grass I used. BUT: It's clustered and it's tweaked! That means that the shaddows are disabled, it has more LODs and only the bigger ones have viewLODs to safe as much performance as possible. If your system runs fine and stable and perfectly configured the grass woun't harm as much as you may think. Ok, there IS a effect if one removes them all. But hey, why should you drop the athmosphere so much without reason? If it's laggy better you try other options - there are a lot of other possibilities to get the island smoothed like many ppl already reported here. One of the best tweaks (besides the most important slider to the view range! is the visual quality. If you pull the slider to the left a bit especially the grass will be removed earlier. That should lift the frame rate. Another point is the setting of your direct-3D device! Many ppl pushes the quality slider to "best quality". But this is one of the best ways to kill the fps rate in OFP. Additionally to that it has hardly any positive optical effect. Try out what happens if you pull the quality slider to the middle or left position. You will notice that the FPS will raise without negative optical effects! Another important part of the FPS rulers is the advanced preferences dialogue: - ObjectLOD: Don't adjust too small values! Try it with ~0.0050 or even higher. - ShadowLOD: Pull the slider to the left end, it doesn't matter anything but now it's prevented that OFP has to render too detailled shadow models. - texture drop down: set it to "8x", that means that the MipMaps will move down faster to a performace like value. - textures: Avoid textures above 1024 and effects more than 128 Unused MODs/Addons: KILL THEM! If the island is running fine you can activate more. But if not, make sure that you haven't any other addons running. And please make sure that your original addon folders are CLEAR, means without any inofficial addons! After all that it's also clear that you have to kill any other tasks when running OFP! many ppl have running a lot of crap in the background and wondering why the machine is getting hot! BTW locations: one has reported why I have removed a base fron Noe2. That isn't true because my island is NOT a successor of Nogova 1.xx - in contrary I ADDED 3 possibilities to setup a base. The western base on Krasnovjie, the emty field into the dessert (below Petrovice) and one on the little island far down in the southwest (with prepaired port). In these places the mission designer is nearly free to act and build. Last but not least in future i will report any animation components a mission designer needs to get access to the anims. But please be patient...

    1.) the campaign isn't "converted", its been adapted. The original campaign woun't work properly because there are some units into a building or a very dense collection of bushes for e.g. 2.) the campaign includes the LOGIC. It's not important but it's a little bit for your eyes if the oil fires are burning and the pumps are working for e.g. Your last point i cannot understand - sry. To explain what happens if you activate the mod folder: firstly please note, that it's not a MOD! It's just a replacement of the island The file name of Nogova2 is exactly the same as from original Nogova but it has its own config.cpp. So you are able to activate a MOD additionally. But maybe in some cases it comes to a collision between the scripts which tries to rule Nogova2. If you want to make a mission on Nogova2 there is no problem at all. Just activate it and then do the usual procedure. @problems: Like the post from IceFLYER shows the island runs perfect on very small and old machines. I have noticed that many ppl with pretty actual machines have problems. It's been reported since years that OFP have problems with some actual drivers. Maybe you can try an older version to run?

    Thank you all again for your praise! :-) Bridges, crashes and other unloved stuff: Bridges: As already posted there's only one setting (normal) where the bridge matches perfectly. In MP, where the setting will switch automatically to low you will notice some little steps but it doesn't harm the playability. This effect depends to the OFP system and there's no way to fix that. Crashes: - Please do deactivate all other stuff for the moment and make sure that you have not any unofficial stuff into your original addon folders like "Addons" (CWC) and/or "Res/Addons". - Be sure that "-nomap" is used. Â - start with lower settings into preferences and the options to make sure that the loadout isn't too high. - reduce the view distance to its lowest end until it works. After that you can increase it step by step. - start without the LOGIC to avoit unnecessary loadout - if the island will run properly you can activate the logic again. If there is too many load again you are able to deactivate several parts of the functions seperately - read the readme how that works. I can tell you that the island WILL work on any PC which is able to compute the original nogova. There's absolutely no reason to give in and delete the island. We have tested it on really old machines and it does work in deed!
