Why is so difficult to make an accurate Humvee? No, really. I can´t really understand it. At least after three different attempts. It Is just the same ArmA M1025 just with the basic ballistic shield and armored doors with ugly grids ala IDF. Not armored windshield, or the characteristic hood from the M111x versions... well, at least the textures look better compared to ArmA 1.

Beside this, there are some nice graphical additions almost all environment-related. Anyway and perhaps, I think It´s the moment to me to switch to another "2" intead ArmA 2. (Damn I´m quite frustrated right now)

Everything looks suberb, even better than OFP2 but that's just looks. I hope that controls/mouse input will be at least as responsible as OFP did. It'd be perfect and a definite buy for me. It's the gameplay that counts, and ArmA's gameplay sucked compared to OFP.

I have a bad feeling It's going to be another arma failure. At least not enabling the damn vsync by default would help a lot. It makes game unplayable with most LCD screens.

Yep, the water seems the only thing that hasn't been upgraded so far... at least, it's not obvious on those pics. I though it would be easy to make transparent water with shadermodel 3...

This looks so much more believable (in lack of a better word) than ArmA inlove.gifinlove.gifinlove.gifinlove.gifinlove.gif

I agree at least to that point. OFP seemed much more fluid and responsive to me. Nonetheless, I'm happy with what we got now with 1.14.. With the exception of all those palm trees and the paradise sense you get.. I like the way Arma2 is looking by putting the gritty and dirty into it. Just like ofp had smile_o.gif

not screens, scenes or yes vids.  biggrin_o.gif

There are some on youtube, mind you these were very very early ingame video's that had only a few changes and were using standard Arma vehicles thus causing a big muckup over it.

I'm personally can't give Arma too much flak, in a way it seemed like BIS "practice game", every developer does this, for DICE it was BF2 obviously when compared with BF2142, the change in textures, models and dynamics was greatly improved as was lighting, shaders and specs (for some reason).

Now we look at Arma, BIS's first game with normal and specular maps and complex shaders, now we see Arma II and they look entirerly different.

Back to the video's, I decided to be nice and just link em http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvNBtdXjXmQ  Just keep in mind these are old, I'm sure we'll see much change in the comming updates.

On a side note I just watched a video called Poseidon to ArmA 2 : A History of Flashpoint which curiously showed some V-22 footage and a UAV hovering about, I don't think it was VBS2 but I can't recall seeing this, has anyone else?

Uh, BF2 got a Higher Score than BF2142, which totally sucked.

More people are online for BF2, as well.

Yes I know, I still play it on and off, you missed my point entirerly, it wasn't about sales numbers or how many play it.

Or, perhaps... technology just simply advanced as it does in between games (or at least should)?

Yea, ArmA1 was just a lead up to ArmA2... but its quite rare for a developer to do things like that. Your example is wrong however as BF2 was not a "practice" game. The next game in the series simply took advantage of move advanced technology that was available.

Anyway, the new screenshots look really good... my only small complaint is the vehicle textures. I really don't think the base models should be covered in mud like the Hummvee is. Especially if the US soldiers had just landed in the battlefield. That might be a bit picky I know... but still.

Good point. I think they should look at Medieval 2 Total War, the troops when fresh on the battlefield looked very clean. After the fighting starts, they all get more bloodied and dirty with dirt and dust.

It looked like just a simple texture swaping, just like the infantry got shot and get bloodied. But of course, I'm sure it is not as simple as it looks...

An idea though

I may be nitpicking, but I hate the Name Chernarus, otherwise everything else is fine!

My hats off to BIS, nearly peed my pants when i saw the screens.

All i ever wanted is there

- Newest Russian and US hardware

- Classic old Russian hardware for Chernarus troops

- Huge range of troops from great looking Russian and US troops and specops to Chernarus forcces that look pretty much liek ukrainians and by that also allow nice scenarios for a russian campaign

- Animals like Boars, Wolves, Dogs...

- Variety of civillians like old Babushkas, Farmers, Young Woman...

- Great landscape that reminds me of how i loved the FDF Autum islands.

- Superb and realistic looking buildings especially the military ones

- Great new enhancement of the engine that makes this ages old engine look truely great by todays standards.

- As far as i can see we also get a great campaign with multiple endings.

WHat more can i ask for.

All left now is gettign rid of some ArmA bugs and design flaws and not repeat them.

Smoother anims and more animated parts on vehicles and i will marry this game...

I noticed that those military buildings are the ones that were built in most easter block countries..which is good, i always wanted them in game, especially the air traffic control tower thumbs-up.gif

much as all these photos leave me discernibly moist, the goofy looking guy on the right is really odd. Looks like he's constantly trying to pop his eyeballs out of their sockets.

but seeing as thats the only thing I can find to nitpick about, means everything else is looking right on track smile_o.gif

Nice screens! Lets see if updates appear on arma2.com - most people like to see one with official informations, pics, teasers etc. Think of those articles and advertisements with ArmA2 release day 16.10.2008. wink_o.gif

ArmA2 booty bigger

Bit bigger ( screen not the rear ^^ )

If it is kinda like a remake of the females in resistance then they should look rather young depending offcourse what we define a young 25-30 maybe.

I wonder how many polys were used to make the rear look so round, hehe  xmas_o.gif

Emm, ten vertices more than in Resistance models plus a fancy bootie-shader, with DX9 support of course wink_o.gif
