Recommended Posts

NEW IN v.2:

-corrected the Limo invulnerable middle-seat bug (oops)

-added damage textures for wheels, now you can see if a tire has blown

-added damage textures for windows

-added flag for CTF'ers

-included public key in package

-couple of missing materials in cargo view fixed

As per the readme...

WHAT IS IT:

This add-on offers you three variants of the Soviet Lada 1200 (VAZ 2101) car: red and blue paintjobs, plus as a bonus a custom limousine version for VIP missions.

Features:

-four or six seats

-rear window heating smile_o.gif

-functional speedometer and fuel gauge

-dampers, so it can cross Sahrani bridges

-clan sign for multiplayer

-digitally signed

-damage textures

HOW TO INSTALL:

Extract the Lada.pbo to your Addon folder, or create a separate addon folder and use the "-mod=" startup parametre.

In the editor the Lada's can be found from Civilian or Empty side under category Sergei. Class names are Lada, LadaBlue and LadaLong.

CREDITS:

The Lada model, textures and config were modified from Vilas' FIAT, so a big salute to him. His stuff can be found here: http://ofp.gamepark.cz/_hosted/vilas/index_eng.html

This is my first add-on, so the learning curve was steep. I found the following sources particularly helpful: BrsSeb's O2 tutorial, Linker Split's Normal & Specular Mapping Tutorial, Obmar's Reflective Glass Tutorial, Gnat's post about damage textures and Sigma 6's Barracuda as a reference of working dampers. Also thanks for other people in the forums. Sorry if I forgot someone.

Get it from Armaholic or ArmedAssault.info!

Feel free to host at other sites too.

Oh, and if anyone wonders what the red Lada backwindow sticker says - it's Finnish for "Tough Lada Quality" rofl.gif

The images seems to be nice, but the public key is missing.

Where can we obtain the key, so we can verify the signature?

It's nice to have cars that come well to the North Sahrani comunist atmosphere, not like a Viper*.

Also I have seen that Vilas is giving his permission to new modelers in order to help them to learn, good one there.

Also the flag is going to look great in the pseudo Limo-Lada.

*That doesn't mean that I don't like to go at 300Km/h and make a trip for all Sahra in 20'.

Doh, I wasn't thinking of that - I'll make it available, thanks for mentioning it.

Edit: okay, now it's available at OFPEC. I added direct link to the original post.

Actually when I saw the damage textures applied to this, for a second I thought about doing a rusty Lada that would look like that by default biggrin_o.gif

FDFmod had Saab 900, maybe they'll do it again. I hope so anyway...

Yeah, it gives a chance to make a VIP missions...

But, there are some bugs... I found two.

1# Crashing in wall causes huge lagg.

2# Units on Middle Seats are immortal, lol ;p

1) Hmm, I'm not really sure what this means... what kind of wall, and do you mean a CPU/GPU performance hit or web lag? With the regular, limo or both?

2) Ha, good one! Should have noticed myself, it was easy enough to fix. whistle.gif

I mean, when you crash in building/wall/object/street $lut or in god d@mn santa clause in the middle of summer it causes Lagg in SP, I dunnu if it's CPU or RAM. Tested with Limo.

I have no idea what that lag could be, since I don't experience it. Might be something to do with specific settings or a clash with another addon.

The next version is going to include the following improvements:

-corrected the Limo invulnerable middle-seat bug

-added damage textures for wheels, now you can see if a tire has blown

-added damage textures for windows

-added flag for CTF'ers

-public key is included

Those features are ready now, but I'll wait couple of days if anyone comes up with new bugs or other stuff.

Lol, make the trabant. Include the cardboard walls, and maybe make a pinto that explodes when you hit it at the back biggrin_o.gif

Probably not. It would be nice to do the Niva 4x4, but that would require a totally new 3d model and I suck as a modeller (regretfully, despite having started 3d modelling over 10 years ago) so it's beyond my capabilities... whistle.gif Anyways I've started a new island project and am going to concentrate on that for a while. But do tell if there is anything particular to improve on the Lada's or even if you have ideas for new models. I can't promise any new versions, but it would still be nice to hear opinions.

A police car, that would admittedly be a good one. Might realize it at some point.

And here's a little related entertainment:

(this time with Lada 1500)

No, this will be it. I only decided to do this because of the nostalgy that surged when I saw Vilas' FIAT model. I don't know what other car could inspire me so much...
