zGuba's RACS nationality fix

Thanks to SBP Slovenian Soldiers mod v1.3 creators: Vati and IceBreakr.

Description:

This addon makes RACS soldiers use the same faces as SLA ones. It means that by default there won't be black AI soldiers in this army.

It's NOT racism, it's realism - as SLA and RACS are armies of the same Sahrani nation, which don't seem to be heavily populated by black people.

LOL, I'm black and I didn't think of it being racist at all. Actually, I'm glad this was made because it is unrealistic to see black faces in certain armies. Much needed addon.

Ok first let me say that I have no problem with the idea of a Homogeneous army but what solidifies this as true for Sahrani as it is a fictional nation with a suppossed Latin bent. True SLA has no Black faces but you could have just as easily taken the other road by incorporating them into SLA.

I would guess the majority of Latin (Spanish) speaking countries of the world have men of color serving in their ranks if not the majority. To be honest, I'd prefer a mod that reflected their accents over skin color.

It'll take much more time to create/colorize textures for faces like this. Anyway - I agree with Your point.

About incorporating black people into SLA: it'll look very strange, but I'll do this as a separate addon smile_o.gif

What I want to know is why there are mosques in Queen's Gambit? The architecture is also not Latin American, but rather heavily Middle Eastern. No clay tile roofs and courtyards typical of Latin American buildings.

As for black faces, they didn't bother me as the SLA lived in the desert region of Sahrani which may have darker skinned inhabitants. What I wish is that they would do away with the whole Latin thing and just make them Arabic. BIS apparently was too worried about being politically correct and didn't want Arabs and left wing Europeans screaming about racism. But other games like Call of Duty 4 have straight up American vs. Arab scenarios. Meanwhile other games like Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 1 and 2 did the politically correct thing and likewise chose hispanics (Mexican guerillas) as the fictional enemy.

Also by the way, does this addon just remove black faces? If so then it is still incorrect as the fast majority of Latin Americans are dark skinned (although the upper-class tend to be lighter skinned). The only exception would be if these people are in some kind of island owned by Spain or by people of direct Spanish descent.

Hopefully we'll see either someone make them either Arab or Latin American. Personally I would like to see them what they should be which is Arab given the environment and architecture.

My guess is that the reason for so many Arabic-looking buildings (and that Arabic-sedan) is to make it cheaper to port to VBS2(with their war VS "terrorists" to train troops to)

No, it only makes class ZGB_RACS/SLA_Faces in cfgFaces and it shouldn't affect Your ability to choose black skinned faces for RACS soldiers.

This is starting to sound like "why do the US marines have US army equipment?"

It's just BIS.

For the most part, the SLA to me are just retexed Russians. I see no latin of any kind anywhere. I would have preferred a fictional arab nation myself instead of this rehash from OFP/VBS.

EDIT: How about someone coming up with an Arab face pack replacement for both the RACS and the SLA?

To be konsequent you should remove all black faces for civilians in Sahrani too...

And yes I agree that it it is very confusing to have an island where there are spanish named cities, with arabic buildings and arabic license plates, with black people and speaking english crazy_o.gif

Although in south Spain there are places that are very arabic flavoured due to their past, when this region was under arabic (Moroccan) reign and influence. Even the spanish music is much influenced by north Africa. So you could argue that Sahrani was under Arabic influence in the past. And that would be the reason for the name of the island(s) too.

I too would prefer a straight and clear setting like it was in OFP Resistance. On Nogova we had the architecture, city names and people and their accent looking czech (east European) and they were Russians invading it. This was a very clear and believeable setting.

The civilians can also be tourists.

So what we need to feel less funky in ArmA are:

- Latin facepack

- Latin architecture

- Latin voice for radio

- Latin cars (maybe the very first Volkswagen?)

- Latin dressed civilians

- Women.

It does affect all units that refer to SoldierGB class (GuerillaBase); addons porting west/east/civ units to guer side or refering only to CAManBase won't be affected.
