FlyinBullets 0 Posted July 30, 2007 Hey guys, i've been busy over the weekend, but i'm back now, and working on finishing up my russian marine mission pack, mission 6 is in testing right now and should be released soon. After mission 6 is completed then there shall be one or two missions to end the story line. If anybody would like to see a specific mission type (stealth, defend, attack, air vs air, etc) let me know and I will implement it into the storyline. Sand Flea 0 Posted July 30, 2007 I don't understand the blue magazine tape... Doesn't blue tape mean something is safe/inert? Like it would be filled with blanks?
Shadow NX 1 Posted July 30, 2007 Actually the story of the blue tape is bit different. Most pics of blue tape on magazines come from the chechen wars and the reason is simple, soldiers needed to be aware and be able to quickly reload so they taped a extra mag to their first mag and because their kit only had the blue tape ( normally is used as isolate tape in russia afaik ) in it they used it. Someone correct me if im wrong but thats the explanation i got for it before.

That may be one of the explanations, but you can already see old Afghanistan pictures with the blue tape, so it must be another thing  And, you can actually see the blue tape not only on the mags but on the handgrip as well as on some scopes too  Maybe it's some sort of identification or maybe it's just fashion
Shadow NX 1 Posted July 30, 2007 Well i guess then the explanation is that its in the soldier kit since the 80s in the blue version. Also there is a unit that uses blue as recognition, for example painted as stripe around the helmets.
Yyhrs 3 Posted July 30, 2007 The Pecheneg seems to be identical to the PKM other than the barrel, this site had probably the best pics See here. Here's a site with a model of a pecheneg, might be a good reference for the barrel See here That is the old version of Pecheneg. Version used by VDV -> http://www.zavdv.ru/pk/index.htm#photo_12
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted July 30, 2007 Steve, I need a blotchless version of your KLMK texture for normal map generation. I also need a suitably textured helmet texture (and blotchless normal map-generating version) for the KLMK and our other project.
Shadow NX 1 Posted July 30, 2007 Blotchless? You mean without camo right? Ok will prepare that. About helmet, well use the BIS steel pot that the last patches SLA units have, just try to tone the shining down till its only barely noticeable. Maybe i just keep them green and a a red star on the front.
wex-q 0 Posted July 30, 2007 Sure, blue tape makes you easier to spot in the wilderness, but the blue tape says in 1 second: "That's a russian guy"
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted July 30, 2007 Yeah, without the camo would be excellent, try and maintain the material texture though, it would make for quite a cool map. Can do the helmet easily.

Wish i could read it Anyway, on the page the Pechenegs have two different front parts, so what is the correct and more common one? The big round disc looks like its intended to mount a device on it, maybe soem flash hider or even a supressor? Think ive seen one with a big cylinder on the front that could be a supressor or something.
Törni 0 Posted July 30, 2007 Definately the blue tape is there. I saw it first in your addons and only afterwards spotted it on pics and videos

I`m shure the color of tapes weren`t defined strictry...but matter of what you have. And only purpose of it was, as you said, for quickly reload.
Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted July 30, 2007 Sure, blue tape makes you easier to spot in the wilderness, but the blue tape says in 1 second:"That's a russian guy" Good point. As the russian military has as much camo patters as there are days in a year and soldiers make it a fashion to combina as many of those as possible in one kit and to sure that no soldier in the same platoon wears the same camouflage, the blue tape is just about the only thing that can ID a russian soldier in combat In that light this addon is highly unrealistic when you want to portray units un chechnia Modern russian army units however have finaly began to standarize their camouflage equipment. I'd love to see some of the more interesting patterns though for special units in an urban conflict zone. Like the Sneg M and 'reed' type camouflages. For example units with blue sneg m trousers and green reed jackets or the other way around. Perhaps something for a separate pack, but obviously not for this game right now. This would need a a new map with a custom destroyed city. The ArmA engine should be able to handle this, so I would be very interesting in a real stalingrad-type island (sorry for the off-topic) Great addon btw. Last weekend I had the first chance of playing with it and I must say I love it! I hope BIS releases the modelling tool soon so addonmakers can change the soldier model and we can really begin the addonmaking process. Stuff like this is already extremely good and only shows is that there is a very bright future for the Arma modelling community ArmA isen't too much fun right now, but addons make it fun. Like the RACS addon and this addon do. I totaly love the game now

Yyhrs 3 Posted July 30, 2007 (in english http://world.guns.ru/machine/mg30-e.htm ) I think the latest variant is better. Latest variants of weapons are best for used in ArmA because we play in immediate future.
