Texview2 has been released !!

Just a question : how can I add a bump map effect to a texture with this tool ?

Let's say I have a logo.paa with RGB+alpha channels, now I'd like to add a normal map for the bump map effect. Is it possible with this tool.

(sorry if it's a noob question biggrin_o.gif)

I have a lot of problems with this. It crashes very frequently when I try to open a texture that I made with Texview 1. Could someone explain what causes this?

Still no option to save as .jpg?

why would you want that? Any image processing software can do that for you

So I can save BIS textures to a format I can open with my image editing software.

I know it supports other file types but jpg and bmp are the most common.

That depends on what you do. TexView saves into the most common formats for texture editing.

why use jpg? basicly the jpg format is not for advance texture editing, colour differences, compression rates, etc, photo output yes, but never use it to texture editing in games

Can this generate normal maps as well as specular maps?

I hardly think it can "generate" normal maps, although it would be very cool.

If you want a tool to generate normal maps, I believe NVidia released one a while ago, but I can't remember the name.

Yeah I have the plugin for Photoshop but I was hoping texview could do both.

Whats the benefit of the new tool if i already use PS and Kegetys plugin?

Or better said, is there stuff that Textview2 can do better / easier?

Wasnt able to test it myself yet so let me hear your opinions.

Well witht he plugin i can open ArmA textures directly in Photoshop work on them and save them back ( with several options ) directly as paa or pac with nearly no noticeable quality loss.

So far my main use for Texview has been generating specular maps, I just made the BMD-1 look excellent using them with a good normal map. smile_o.gif Expect a 3.0 soon, with some config updates as well.

a matter of choose really, someone might just dont want to buy PS or just dont want to use any PS plugin(i was using RAW plugin and sometime it will cause some minor problem, being work related i stop using them and use the offical one came with the DSLR, turning them into tiff or jpg b4 editing)

Hello,

with this tool can I create a single .paa or .pac file containing RGB+A channels and a normal map texture ?

I dont want it to generate normal map, i just want to include my own normal map texture to a RGB+A texture.

Or do I need something else ?

My goal is to add some 3D effects to my squad logo, which is supposed to be a single .paa file

Hi, if the TexView2 can't generate normal maps then the only use that

i see on it, is that as is a "official tool", it'll reach much more addon

makers, modders or just curious players. But without the option of

generate the normal maps, the ALTtexview in combo with the Feer's

PaaTool 1.1 (released for the OFP) can do without any problem the

same job. So... what BIS suggest us to use for generate normal maps

and attract more players to this game with the bullshit that we could

do for all the players?. Let's C ya

It can generate specular maps currently but the filters are very easy to edit. So we just need somebody to make a few normal map filters with different depths etc and we're good.

But I think the Nvidia tools are currently the best just because they are made specifically for normal maps and have a wide range of options to generate the maps with.
