The_Nebula 0 Posted June 29, 2007 rumors... without confirmation and dl's why should idea release tools and not bis by themselves? Well, if they said they will be released next week, why should there be download links? And yes, they are rumours, but I 'really' hope that they are true and we get confirmation from BIS/IDEA. colkurtz 0 Posted June 29, 2007 "IDEA games will release TexView2, Fileblank, Oxygen 2 and Visitor 3 gradually by the start of next week." Ahem for the benefit of the 'non modder folk' does anyone care to elaborate on what TexView2, Fileblank, Oxygen 2 and Visitor 3 are, and what modders in theory can achieve with them. Something that will forever leave OFP in the dust. I hope the news is correct because finally we will start to see some great addons and mods. Not that we havent seen it but these tools will without a doubt make it easier for all modders.

shinRaiden 0 Posted June 29, 2007 "IDEA games will release TexView2, Fileblank, Oxygen 2 and Visitor 3 gradually by the start of next week."Ahem for the benefit of the 'non modder folk' does anyone care to elaborate on what TexView2, Fileblank, Oxygen 2 and Visitor 3 are, and what modders in theory can achieve with them. TexView2 itself is kinda pointless for anything more than a paa image viewer. Pal2Pace.exe is the useful tool, it is used automatically by arma.exe in -buldozer mode to automaticly generate .paa files from the .tga or better yet .rvmat files mapped to the model. Filebank is the command line tool that stuffs all your content into pbo form, and properly builds the header path info so you can have embedded hierarchal content. Oxygen2 is the modeling tool where you can import your 3ds files, swap the Max/Maya uvmapped .tga's for .rvmat's that cover the .tga's, add your needed selections and memory points and LOD's, and see if your model is under the magical 10~15 GPU sections recommended limit. If it's 10 times that level like that like the RHS Hind's or other 'premier' models you'll need to take it back to 3dsMax to do a professional level uv unwrap and try again importing into Oxygen. Once it's stable, and you've configured a model.cfg that -buldozer can handle (none of this cfgmodels.hpp nonsense being mistakenly promoted by the community) then you save it up as a .p3d file. Vistor3 will crush your machine. Goodbye any hopes of sanity or rapid development. You'll need a 64bit machine with a 64bit version of Photoshop and a high-performance RAID system for the dozens of gigabytes of data needed to process the artificial (?) terrain maps into the background image file, and the layer mask image file. You'll then spend the next several months/years of your life day and night manipulating roads, trees, and buildings across vast areas of empty terrain. Once your master piece is done, Visitor3 via Buldozer and pal2pace will slice and dice the background layers into a massive mountain of layer tiles and linking rvmat's. The final product isn't too bad, but will take some careful planning if you want it to fit on one CD when packed as a PBO.
