martinovic 0 Posted July 13, 2007 From a game perspective... why play CoD4 when you can play Killzone 2 instead? http://kotaku.com/gaming/clips/killzone-2-e3-trailer-277084.php
maxqubit 1 Posted July 13, 2007 From a game perspective... why play CoD4 when you can play Killzone 2 instead?http://kotaku.com/gaming/clips/killzone-2-e3-trailer-277084.php Ummm, it is on PS3 ... not on 360. And KZ2 is a PS3 exclusive i think, as is Haze. So, i'm not trading in my 360/XBL. And an extra PS3 is atm no possible due to limited funds:) But for me one of the BIG shooters coming is of course Bioshock. That is the Single Player game i really look forward to play (with the classic System Shock 2 in memory)
sputnik monroe 102 Posted July 13, 2007 Quote[/b] ]I know that to you we're a bungling mass of drunk OPFOR waiting to get mowed down, i understand that this isn't bothering you at all. But imagine a game that depicts US Marines or your countrymen as 100s of dumbasses just sitting tightly infront of your gun waiting to die a scripted death. Exactly and not just that but have them speaking with absurd exaggerated accents and wearing cowboy hats while drinking whiskey and talking about porn. It's just unrealistic and disrespectful. Â Quote[/b] ]If you have to kill me and my kind then do it realistically, none of this rambo* bullshit. To me this isn't about killing my kind but how you are killing my kind. If there are no easterners playable in the game then it will be very onesided... Â Once again I whole heartedly agree. Like I said in the old games it was an Opfor order of battle you fought. A professional opponent to be taken seriously. The enemy force didn't fart and pick their noses and act like the three stooges on an alcohol binge. Also why not include an OMOH or SOBR campaign or mission for example? The problem is if they did I'm sure they would just depict OMOH as not having enough weapons to go around "When comrade Boris dies pick up his gun!" and being a bunch of vodkaholic stooges that just do stupid scripted human wave attacks. Guest Ti0n3r Posted July 13, 2007 Agreed. The stereotypes are getting boring

maxqubit 1 Posted July 13, 2007 Hmmm, for the record ... i am allowed by the community to actually play Bioshock on 360? ... or is there something wrong with every shooter besides OFP/ArmA and some other 'realistic pc-what-else shooters' ... I mean, it is scifi techno, in a underwater 50's scene, played with a god-forbidden controller on a mere 720p (or 1080p) resolution on a 42" screen ... how wrong can you get. (PS: Yes i did use 'search Bioshock' and the only hit was some E3 2006 thread)
-Snafu- 79 Posted July 13, 2007 edit: Happy massacring of the stereotypical eastern european drunkard, you ignorant westerners. That statement is ignorant in itself.
4 IN 1 0 Posted July 13, 2007 this game is not mean to be realistic this game is not mean to be fair to non almighty-worldpolice-hippy-praises ppl this game is mean to, however, to shooting and blowing stuff up with "guns" and stuff that noone is going to find out how they perform close/far to real things this game is mean to, TBH, to share the cake of the oh-look-so-real FPS market which OFP/ArmA simply doesnt belongs to so why all the rumbling? if it doesnt fit you gaming style just dont play it for me? i might be intersted in playing on my friends PC or 360 for a few hours of crap fun, but after that i might forget about that and if i ever going to buy it it might as well end up covered with inchs of dust somewhere on top of my bookshelf where noone will ever goin to find it and being completely forgoted
colt 0 Posted July 13, 2007 These games are what I call 'popcorn' games, the equivalent of the Hollywood blockbuster. Switch your brain off enjoy the set-pieces and big explosions. I was looking forward to it form the early showings but having seen the way you 'float' over obsticles and the rigidness of your gun has made me think twice. I might check it out when it's much cheaper and because of the lack of replayability with these types of games.
maxqubit 1 Posted July 13, 2007 These games are what I call 'popcorn' games, the equivalent of the Hollywood blockbuster. Switch your brain off enjoy the set-pieces and big explosions. Now say, for the sake of argument, you would want to make a game about d-day (which, we all know, actually happened irl). Could you get away with the arma engine (or GR engine) or would you need something more 'hollywood' style (aka 'popcorn engine')? I'm in no way a MoH fan but to regonize ArmA as 'the only way' is severly limiting. You would never be able to mod d-day ... the engine would come to a halt. colt 0 Posted July 13, 2007 Actually, I was agreeing with you and 4 IN 1. Â When I use the term 'popcorn game' I'm not being disingenuous. I mean it in a positive way. Everyone likes popcorn now and again, right.
martinovic 0 Posted July 14, 2007 Don't get me started on world war II and it's depiction in movies and games. That bundle of patriotic, actionpacked and reportedly-inaccurate horsedung makes me angry.
maxqubit 1 Posted July 14, 2007 Don't get me started on world war II and it's depiction in movies and games. That bundle of patriotic, actionpacked and reportedly-inaccurate horsedung makes me angry. Well, war in itself is a 'bundle of patriotic, actionpacked and reportedly-inaccurate horsedung' ... and yes, that sometimes makes me tired ... Will we ever learn. So, now we have this out of the way. Can we PLZ ENJOY OURSELVES!
4 IN 1 0 Posted July 16, 2007 one more thing: i wonder if the javelin could be fire from this close, even if its possible its just ulter non-sence
NeMeSiS 11 Posted July 16, 2007 Well that looks like some linear 1 time fun, ill probably wait until its very cheap before i get it.
Heatseeker 0 Posted October 12, 2007 bump. It didnt seem worth starting a new thread to discuss the demo. Anyone tried it?
ebud 18 Posted October 12, 2007 Tried it last night. It plays like all the rest. Fun, but pretty shallow and for me personally it has no replayability. If you've played one COD you've pretty much played them all. Thats said, I cranked up the settings and it ran smooth as silk, looks amazing and was pretty good "popcorn" fun. I'll probably buy it just to have something different to play that I'll never think about modding, don't have to put much thought into and is just plain fun rather than a serious sim. shadow 6 Posted October 12, 2007 Tried the demo. Runs smooth, nice sound effects and graphics. But like Ebud said, its a nice one-time popcorn experience. The demo crash with a DirectX error every time it needs to restart when I'm changing settings in the options screen though, so I had to alter the config.cfg manually. Rear channels in 4-point surround are dead. I might buy it for the "simple and fun" single player aspect.
~Pantera~ 0 Posted October 12, 2007 What keeps me playing any CoD game is the intense multiplayer. But you guys will just think I'm just a st00p!d cs k!dd!3 n00b cause this is the OFP/ArmA forums.
Average Joe 0 Posted October 12, 2007 I just downloaded the PC Demo, highspeed, Graphically Marvellous and Very smooth. Hmm pc version or 360? that art thou question
Heatseeker 0 Posted October 12, 2007 Not much to see for a 1.37 gig demo. Well.. i didnt like it and imo it doesnt even look good, its unrealistically overshaded and blocky. On a positive note.. there is none!
crassus 0 Posted October 12, 2007 Great graphics and animations okay sounds. Not loud enough, not like the first Call Of Duty (WW2) Still has the climbing and mantling. Big minuses: Only 1 fire mode for the weapons: E.g. your M4 fires only full-auto; no selector switch. Can't deploy the bipod on the RPD (couldn't find an abandoned SAW to test out, but I'm guessing the same lame ass restriction applies there too.) No grenade cooking; just hit a button and you throw the frag.) Melee consists of a quick as lightning knife slash, then you're quickly rearmed with whatever weapon you had in hand prior. Yeah, pretty linear. Will not be buying it.
Colossus 2 Posted October 13, 2007 Good enough for fast and easy arcade gaming. Disapointed with the sound though, waaay too low. Especially the sound a bit away from the player. But overall good for the CoD-series to be. I doubt that the MP experience would be fun for all. Two hints: bunnies and shotguns.
Thunnder Bunny 0 Posted October 13, 2007 The COD series , good movies, just not the best games.
