kanotson 2 Posted April 5, 2007 Good mission, but I find it very long to complete (not really a fault, just personal opinion), maybe it would be funnier if it was a way to fail the mission (less passive enemies? if they could retake cities and/or take the base...) culley65 0 Posted April 6, 2007 Awesome map.. some bugs and issues myself and some friends encountered. - Tons of crashing and lock ups.. - The map KILLS servers.. - The actions menu sometimes stops working.. ill be able to mount and dismount then all the sudden I wont be able to select anything.. change my loadout, mount a vehicle.. nothing. - The AI is insane.. not really a bad thing I guess but its like im playing agains the worlds elite. december 0 Posted April 6, 2007 It's been running and as I write still is on the SES server for over 8 hours. Don't think anyone experienced any crashes just some lag spikes. It is heavy on the server tho. You need a good machine with a good connection. Also it can take over 5 minutes to connect to the server if there are a few players connected. I like the variety of the missions and most can be done with 3 or 4 players. AI are good too, well balanced I think. PaveQ 0 Posted April 6, 2007 The mission is insanely heavy. I got often less than 10 server-side fps on core duo 1.87GHz with 22 players. Every other map just works fine. (btw, that bike-bug might be related to server-side fps, lower it is, more likely you are to fall from the bike) I really hope all the enemy units are not patroling there from the beginning. You could dynamically create/hide them when player is near, and stop patrolling units when no player is near the city. Moving AI takes 2-3 times more cpu than stopped one. Something to lock squads to prevent players from joining team working squads. People just join whatever squad they feel and it enrages me when some goof joins my squad, doesn't do a damn thing, and gets a free grind on my work. Better squads. It's totally unrealistic that a Sgt. can have like -- what, two people join up on him? Give me a break. Pilots don't have their tools of the trade from the start? Come on. Only lieutenants can carry a SAW? Please. Don't get me wrong, it's a wicked-ass mission (it would be kinda cooler if you started in Rahmadi and had to liberate ALL of Sahrani, and your base moved as you took different objectives) -- but there's some glitches with it. sickboy 13 Posted April 6, 2007 KillJoy, Great Mission Idea etc. etc. But I found it a bit lacking in the dynamics (replaying the mission a few times gives near-same results at the objectives etc). Making use of 6thSense.eu AI-Manager might help you! Altough the functionality of reducing AI-groups only to leader, or even fully deactivating groups that are 2km or further away from player is not finished yet... (it would give you a very nice performance boost in missions with many objective areas especially when spread over larger distances) Still I guess the other dynamics and features might be interesting to combine with Evolution Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

No, I'm saying one team would be northern army and another southern army, maybe with the objective of control some important cities and then take the enemy base. december 0 Posted April 6, 2007 I was thinking with 30 players vehicles may become short in supply, for example 1 team takes a chopper trashes it but does't take the time to take the repair truck to fix it, just take a new 1. Would it be possible to spawn vehicles just for use by the squad when it is formed and only that squad could mount it? That way the squad would be responsible for their own vehicles. The vehicles could be deleted when the players in the squad leave the server. Or just spawn vehicles that the squad has the rank to use, again only that squad has access to them. -Puma- 2 Posted April 6, 2007 I like the idea, but havent have the time to dedicate to this properly, But honestly after playing 4+ hours on this map, I've seen total of 4 Enemy I mean U can probly walk thru town occupied with enemy, without ever seeing a single opfor in em. Allso no dead bodies anywhere: the towns are just EMPTY. If that's the case or I have just had poor timing, I would suggest to add ALOT more enemy troops in the towns and objectives. KilJoy -SFG- 0 Posted April 6, 2007 Thanks everyone for taking the time to play the mission and comment here. @sickboy -All units within a city zone collapse back to the group leader when no west unit is there and when west reenters the city a random sized group of random units spawns for him to fill out his squad. When no west is in a city zone all AI is disabled for east units within the city zone. All Ai commanders spawn in a random place and have a random 3 point patrol with the exception of the stationary units at the red secondarys and some set patrols in pariso. If there are issues with server fps and bandwidth its more likely to be with the side missions which are more loosely controlled for now, I will be looking into these again. I will check out AI-Manager thanks for the link. @december - After playing a bit more Im realizing theres a big problem when the map has been running for some time especialy on advanced mode where if all choppers are lost in the field it can become nearly impossibil to find them with out the use of a choppers radar. The markers you see to tell you to repair them are not synced for JIP players. So unless you were on the server when the chopper crashed you wont have that marker. If i cant get the markers to sync to JIP clients i will have to consider respawning MH6. About the one vehicle per player idea i do like it but would lead to one problem. if a player wanted to respawn his vehicle he would just have to reconnect. Unless maybe the server recorded some more data then just the players score. Theres a lose end there but I will think about it. @PaveQ version 1.1 does not have bikes try that it should be better as there were some importent updates to help cpu load. Most enemy are dynamicly spawned and removed according to player proximity. @Dr. Mojo, PhD I thought about an invation system for squads I will revisit this idea soon if it seems popular. This limitation is a compromise for the sake of bandwidth im afraid. Pilots don't have their tools of the trade from the start? - flying to pariso is pointless. as i have mentioned there are no carreres in evolution with modals limiting you to the vehicle you drive the model choice is merely ascetic. I find the SAW a formidable weapon with far to little recoil and a massive magazine. Ask any CTF player what they prefer to use for qcb. The gun is gold in the right hands. in general all games that seek to provide entertainment in a certin time span even hard core sims have to comprimise reality for gamesplay sake from time to time. @culley65 In answer to your statements for now stability is a priority im working on these problems. From my experince playing around with ai skill, the server settings totaly over ride any setting you make in an editor you will have to speak to your server operator to get them to lower ai skill. @kanotson I understand, a sort of cti with ranks. I wouldent be opposed to the idea but my love for now is coop. Maybe in future. @SPC.Puma_FIN Dead bodies are removed to improve fps and net performance. if they were left there would be thousands of dead enemy at the end. because of the spawning system theres are never that many enemies on the map at one time. when a player connects to the server they would have to be told the location etc of every dead body. Cant really understand why you cant find enemy. they move around in mostly groups of over 6 so they're not hard to spot. @USSRsniper Try team killing. Its not so much fun after a while on Evolution. The server setting seemed to be 24 minute day but I couldnt see the time change at all. When I crashed the first time it actually turned night for the first time, isntantly, and I crashed 5 seconds later. WHen I came back my score was gone. I reconnected to the server and a friend powerleveled me up to 200 score in about an hour. I then reconnected to leave his group and have my brother join mine. This time my score had disappeared again. Im now on that server for the 2nd time after that score loss. Dunno if this helps you in any way to figure out the problem. Seitan 8 Posted April 6, 2007 Mission is great... but after few hours and 30+ players disconnecting/connecting it lags the server. Then people start crashing when they loose their fps and have bad desync. When they come back server lags even more because they loading all the data again.
