Wishlist for the next 1.06 patch

Hi Guys!

I hope the next 1.06 will have these changes for ArmA. Here is my wishlist.

1.  New pilot Helmets like the original HGU-55/P with GBU 12  oxygen mask. Real fighter Pilots don't wearing a helicopter helmet!

2.  New Tactical Vests like this one:

3.  Realistic Weapons sounds!!The other one sounds so ugly crazy_o.gif

4.  Better performance the 1.05 patch was not enough!!

5.  Better Cockpit textures that you have the feeling you will flying a real one!! smile_o.gif

6.  Weapons textures have to be better!!

7.  Buildings textures have to be better !!

8.  Multiplayer game have to be more stabilized!!!

9. AND THE MOST WANTED!!!! An Oxygen editor tool FOR ARMA TO CREATE MODS AND ADDONS FOR THE COMMUNITY!!

Interiors for tanks

Better contrast of colors in the playerlist (press p in mp)

fix the ammo bug (put much ammo in a vehicle and try to take some ammo out of it)

MP Browser: Please make a field where the loaded addons are shown

They look great to me and i dont even run at high/very high texture detail...

Maybe the next patch could include glasses?

- reduce tracerrounds to every 3rd shot

- black/white nightvision shadereffect for ah1z super cobra gunnerview, better zoom and more transparent lense!

- more splashdamage for miniguns on helis and bmp-2 cannons

- make minigun on ah-6 fire from both sides

- add caution sounds when guided missile locks on

- ALL PLAYERNAMES OF CREW INSIDE VEHICLES MUST BE DISPLAYED (Multiplayer)!!! (Blackhawk, APC,...)

- Fix the delayed death animation (=> no death animation till the other animation is finished)

- fix the texture not loading (streaming) bug on highend systems with more than 1 or 2 GB Ram!

Don´t know if this thread will change anything, but these are my wishes:

1. Disable autocentre for mouse while driving/flying in vehicles

2. Different voiceset for OPFOR

That´s it basically. I dont´go conform with the eyecandy wishes though. They are very low-ranking on my list and imo the game already looks awesome enough for me.

These I personally find somewhat ridiculouse:

1) MP Dedicated Server Remote Control (Remote administration, better features to shutdown/stop/start arma server remotly)

2) O2 Tools For Addon Modication

3) Better Performance

4) Menu's Background/text colour improved (impossible to read some area's of the menu)

5) MP Server viewer - sort text alignment (text appear to overlap the columns for me)

Yep! + Remove throttle from left/right rudder controls in boats.

+ Remove silly CLUNK CLUNK gear change noise from cars & trucks whilst in first person view.

+ The AI have still have eagle eyes IMO and are far too sharp at spotting and killing. (Making the skill slider more effective might help).

+ Improve AI waypoint following in boats.

... Last but not least: Give ArmA dual core compatibility so that the increasing number of dual core users can benefit from this new technology!   smile_o.gif

my wishes for next patch:

- ability to disable HDR !

- jumping (even smallest fence is unbeatable obstruction)

- better performance on dual-cores (performance like before 1.05)

- AI could get out n beach from boat (then i would do my D-Day missions) - now they reach "get out" point, and they move to sea, 50 meters from coast they get out to sea and start to swim without any weapon !

- not "rusty" wheels when fired, in OFP it was better than now,

- better destruction of buildings (parts)

- better destruction of tanks (1 shot in Abrams front turret should be ricocheted, but 1 shot in front destroys M1A1 tank), front should be much harder than back (now one shot from T72 kills M1A1 no matter where)

- documentation to make addons (how to make Bradley) or Bradley released

- soldier model without vest to make reskins to CWC era (Nam, WW2) or tools to open BIS models

ABOLISH the hitpoint system for tanks, aircraft, and troops!

More realistic damage models (humvees that aren't impenetrable vs .50 caliber sniper, troops who dont die from 1 or 2 shots from an mp5 when hit in torso and troops who dont die from 1 or 2 hits from rifle in plated vest area)!

make the AI worse at shooting; the AI is clearly ridiculously good at shooting. it's a joke how good they are at shooting

better AI actions (no going prone in the middle of street, no 1 by 1 shot sniping with machine guns)

1 wish only (i have ninety but this will save all my work of last 2 years)

the ability to setpos exactly at[x,y,z] and not nearest available space or where it thinks i said smile_o.gif.

never gonna get it but what are wishes for ?

* better sound

* better tools to control a dedicated server.

* bring out a dedicated server set of files needed that is less then the 4.9 gig now needed

* editing programs

* smarter Own AI , less eagle eyes enemy

* and please the sounds..... That sucks the most

but overall nice game smile_o.gif

My WISH and PLEDGE to Bis is to fix some annoying things that was in Ofp and i hoped would be fixed for ArmA, but wasent:

1: AI Choppers dont land correctly, they use forewer to land and they brake by turning before landing and land at different places all the time, so its hard making a AI Chopper insertion.

My wish for AI choppers:

Land much faster, and land with the front the way it was flying (no braking by turning) and i want it to land at the SAME spot every time!! Even if its on a rooftop or under fire.

This has bugged me for years in ofp, and parrently will in ArmA to if Bis is not nice and fix this...

2: AI cars/armor dont drive correctly, they drive outside the road  many times and get stuck in stuff along the road.

Specally when driving in convoy they turn outside the road when the car infront brakes. They Generally stupid at driving.

My wish for AI cars/armor:

Drive correctly on roads.

3: When for eksample i order a squad to board a truck or a chopper they dont run directly to the car/chopper like real soldiers would they run a little loop/ take a coupple of steps backwards or does something other stupid before entering the wehicle. Sometimes they refuse to enter or disembark a wehicle. I remember in ofp we had to kill the pilot to get them to dissembark a chopper many times.

My wish:

AI soldiers does EXACTLY what they're told to do right away without any bullshit.

AI still walks trough walls.

Other things i wish for in ArmA:

-Why can soldiers still enter/disembark vehicles

 without opening the doors, its so stupid. And its easy to

  make so Doors/Ramps has to be opened first..

-Bether performance so i can get atleast 30fps with my Radeon 1650pro card and not 10 like now, hehe

-Requested addons are downloaded to AddonsCache like a mission is if you dont have it.

-Give me back my Right CTRL to go prone with

-Please Please put the folders where user made missions are  stored under Ama Directory again like in Ofp.

And much more i'am to tired to think of now, so i add it later.

After all this critisism i have to say that i'am a diehard ofp fan since 2002 and will probably play ArmA for years to despite the annoying problems mentioned over.

Fix all this and the other stuff i will add tomorrow and i'll personally come to CZ and kiss you're feets, hehe

Only thing I would like to add as a big improvement in my eyes;

Give us the abbility to check the briefing while assigning to slots. So that you'll know if the mission is do-able with the ammount of players and which slots are most necesarry.

Maybe even add a description screen in the mission selection screen so the Admin doesn't have to change missions the entire time because no-one remembers the name of that one good mission we played last night. whistle.gif

Hmmm, just remembered my other request;

Working car mirrors or something that gives you the same effect: The ability to see what's behind you when driving.

1. A proper "advanced" mode that still has lock boxes for things like TOWs, Harrier HUDs, Javelins because now you just have to guess if you're locked on or not. Also M203, hand grenade, and either a very rough "your gun is pointed here" crosshair or move the damn M16 from the faaaar edge of the screen. VBS1 got the gun placement right. Whoever made this advanced mode just wasn't thinking when stripping out necessary parts of the UI.

2. Fix all the fun MP bugs like respawning guys causing a never ending loop of "5, follow 3." that you have to hear about 1000 times before the mission ends. And the other one that lets two players occupy the same body. Oh and parachute and HMMWV ejecting bug.

3. Start work on IR viewing, vehicle/weapon mounted NVG and IR, disposable launchers, helo and plane flight modeling improvemetns, vehicle-in-vehicle cargo, adjustable sights, expanded ruck inventory. Leave the goodies and toys to the mod makers, they really are better at it than BIS. The mod makers just need an engine where they can specify the tracer sequence or have adjustable sights for a Carl Gustav. Give them the keys and watch them make the content for you.

In the spirit of 'don't ask, don't get':

Vary/improve infantry Behaviours - see:

Assuming that global skill (via editor slider or SetSkill) equally affects situational awareness, tactical ability & marksmanship, could these factors be weighted differently (and simply) in the engine? e.g.

Situational awareness proportional to sqrt Skill (relative increase)

Tactical ability proportional to Skill (norm)

Marksmanship proportional to Skill^2 (relative decrease).

The intention would be to make units react better but shoot worse.

Improved anims for prone infantry – when changing direction units should ‘lift’ the weapon round, not do a ‘flat spin’.

Reduce range & power of grenades – seems excessive.

AI AFVs are too aware of infantry close in – model blind spots.

AI infantry should engage turned-out AFV crews with small arms but not AFVs with turned-in crews.

Destroyed vehicles should not always burn, explode or change textures.

The hitpoint system is simplistic but is probably too deeply-rooted in the engine to change easily...

Simple shadows on map objects at longer ranges to increase the ‘depth’ of the landscape.

Reduce abruptness of HDR glare effect changes with azimuth – it ought to be defined by direction relative to the light source, not the edge of the screen.

AI minimum engagement time could be shorter (was 20s in OFP, not seen ArmA config yet). Encouraging AI to reassess threats more often should cause them to snapshot at different targets, rather than concentrate on their first threat to the exclusion of all else. This could prolong firefights & simulate suppression.

Scripting commands to return position arrays from cursor objects and point of aim.

Better mix of civilians - male & female - and guerilla/resistance units (though I sense that provides scope for an expansion...)

Seasonal foliage. Winter, autumn & the existing spring/summer textures could be initialised at mission start by date or by scripted command – no requirement to change during the mission.

Less mountainous terrain on future islands = more space for manoeuvre.

Most importantly: BIS to keep ArmA on the path from super to superb!

Three magical feature wishes:

*Thermal Imaging/Flir

*Individual weapon animations; no more hands sticking through grenade launchers

*Realistic tracers

If I had to choose three (hopefully)reasonable features to add, it would be these.

What I think BIS are doing is making ArmA less attractive than VBS2, so there's more reason to buy VBS2...

Still, I want better performance (AND THIS GODDAMN SHADOWS BUG TO GO AWAY (Linky))
