MamiyaOtaru 1 Posted March 1, 2007 Have you considered releasing the patch as well using BitTorrent? I get the impression somehow that bandwidth for serving the patch will be an issue? Amen. This is why bittorrent exists.

nimierkki 0 Posted March 1, 2007 Can you tell me time when this patch is realised?
Dr. Mojo- PhD 0 Posted March 1, 2007 One can only assume it's a joke. I guess paying for a Usenet subscription which most ISPs don't even offer any more for a free patch is better than bittorrent (which is extremely bandwidth efficient, one can download a 400 meg file in about 20 minutes), direct client-to-client connect in IRC (also pull better speeds than an FTP) and various other peer-to-peer services which are all 100% free. Sometimes I have to wonder if people are trolling when they say stuff like that. =/

Is this some kind of joke? why should I have to download something only as fast as I can upload? (ofcourse I don't because my bittorrent client is modded) however if they throw the patch on a newsgroup and people like me where my ISP gives me usenet access for free where I can leech the file at maximum modem speed. bittorrent 50KB/sec usenet newsgroup 800KB/sec nuff said. psycosmos 0 Posted March 1, 2007 My problem is mostly how you said it, I can live with this: why should I have to download something only as fast as I can upload? (ofcourse I don't because my bittorrent client is modded) however if they throw the patch on a newsgroup and people like me where my ISP gives me usenet access for free where I can leech the file at maximum modem speed. bittorrent 50KB/sec usenet newsgroup 800KB/sec nuff said. while this looks more like trolling to me: I'm sorry to inform you bit torrents suck and p2p is for lamers. Usenet > bit torrents, mIRC xdcc, ftp, http, and anything else I forgot. Also, looking at how many people can use bittorrent, compared to those that actually have access to usenet, makes it look even worse. It may be a strength of Usenet to make files available to some Users fast, but making a patch widely available (for free!) is a strength of bittorrent, and that's what those two were talking about and also what makes your post looking totally out of context. Well, it's ok, let's be on topic now and I'm happy that the patch should be available on whatever soon ;)
BroK3n 0 Posted March 1, 2007 Think about all the other people who dont have Usenet (w/e it is) in their countries.

This is why bittorrent exists. I'm sorry to inform you bit torrents suck and p2p is for lamers. Usenet > bit torrents, mIRC xdcc, ftp, http, and anything else I forgot. Oh please. For downloading movies or anime eps or whatever IRC is fine and dandy, but I am talking about a company legally distributing a large file and trying to offload the bandwidth requirements. This isn't about how awesome you are, or proving you're into the scene, it's about making a patch available to as many people as possible. Not everyone has IRC (and wouldn't want to learn). Fewer people have access to newsgroups. Bittorrent is easy, and you upload as you download. This sucks if you are trying to hide from the law, but is nice if you want to help a company distribute a large patch everyone wants to have. Read this. Microsoft shut it down, but it was a group of people distributing service pack 2 over bittorrent before Microsoft could get together the infrastructure to simply serve it themselves. If BIS embraced that method instead of fighting it as MS did it would be an easy way to get the patch to a lot of people without choking on bandwidth costs and limitations. mr.g-c 6 Posted March 2, 2007 Ok now, how many hours could it still take until release? Do you think in a few hours? should i go to bed and look in the morning or should i stay awake and wait..... But the most important: Multiplayer-Dedicated Server: Will there be a new dedicated Server released tomorrow for 1.05 or is the 1.04 dedi compatible with the game in 1.05? Balschoiw 0 Posted March 2, 2007 Quote[/b] ]All versions to 1.05 patch is around 475 MB OMG My eyes just popped out, banged against the wall and reentered my head facing the wrong direction now. This update is huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge. My wild guessing tells me that ArAs now will look like this: Still, it´s really a big load and I hope I can get in in one piece on the first try... Fred DM 0 Posted March 2, 2007 i'm sure the patch will be widely available for all of us without having to resort to BitTorrent and the likes. i mean, ArmA is not Command & Conquer 3, there won't be a million people trying to download at the same time. Scrub 0 Posted March 2, 2007 *gets bandwidth stretcher* Open up the pipe a bit more and I might be able to get it all in one go! Happy to get such a large patch, means lotsa goodies have been included, fixed, or polished.
Phantom Mark 0 Posted March 2, 2007 Wheres the fix to the  jets  not fireing on ground targets?Wheres the fix so the units engage at greater distances? Trees  hover high in the sky when player is on high ground. Wheres the fix to stop armoured vehicles running over their own troops? I hope they fixed all these these problems and forgot to mention it. These problems really spoil it the fighter bombers are pointless so far  they do nothing. Geesh man, cut them a little slack eh, like you im desperate for things in my own personal agenda, they can only fix so much in each patch - and still keep an impatient fan base happy and non whining. If you think there is going to be some super patch which majicaly fixes every known patch in AA in one fell swoop then I suggest you would probably appreciate thats not gonna be released for another year, so which would you prefer ? On a positive note, the patches are coming, and slowly stuff is being fixed - keep your fingers crossed your agenda is their agenda for the next one eh
Mabes 0 Posted March 2, 2007 I read that the AI will actually use and respond to the laser designators now, or maybe I was just dreaming that... Anyway, from all the stuff they have in that change log, I'd say they're doing a great job and have no doubt that what they don't fix now, will get fixed later down the line. Edit: Just noticed that it says 2 Mar 07, 01:43... Wheres the patch (hopefully it'll be up when I get up tomorrow morning)

Maximus_G 0 Posted March 2, 2007 Hi and thanks for the hint, but it doesn't happen only when I fly, it sometimes happens when I step out of or into a chopper. I'm not sure if it has happened in a "non-chopper related" situation on 1.04 though. Sometimes I get the cannot create memory surface, most times - nothing. I've had similiar problems, the game crashed with no messages. Installed the older version of DirectX from the Arma disk, reinstalled the game. Then it was OK. SOBR[1st-I-R] @ Mar. 01 2007,04:00)]I doubt that a chopper in a standard operation flys any higher than 500 meters. Choppers fly higher than 500 m for various reasons, for example to minimize the risks of small arms and machine gun fire.
killaalf 0 Posted March 2, 2007 Choppers fly higher than 500 m for various reasons, for example to minimize the risks of small arms and machine gun fire. And thereby maximizing the risk of getting caught by manpads, SAMs, AAA with their pants down - uhmm, I don't think so, small arms and machine gun fire is the lesser evil by far.
