vilas 477 Posted April 27, 2007 i was not satisfied with previous textures and model of VSS so a little remodelled weapon now, new texture for stock, new for receiver - if i knew how to make normal maps all could look better, but as for the moment just little improved model i also added auto mode for player, AI is not using it when all will be on FTP i will give a signal EDIT okay, but only on Czech FTP (second link ) tommorow as I will find time I will put to Armaholic:D Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

vilas 477 Posted April 28, 2007 Synide: won't give up so easily on the weapon shadows vilas, what problem(s) do you still get? problem is stupid looking shadows on weapons and soldier i gave no "lodnoshadow =1", i gave LOD 10000 (as i was told) i gave model with lower polycount as i it was in OFP maybe there should be more detailed model ? all faces are closed, no "open" or "hole" faces and weapons look really reall sick than half of gun is almost black on the soldiers there is "zebra" of shadow in OFP it was much easier: last LOD should have less than 300 polycounts and lodnoshadow =0 i saw on my ViBi that there is no limmitation of polycounts shadows for vehicles are working good for weapons - no and i don't know why, maybe last LOD should be copy of 1st LOD, maybe some with face properties, maybe i must make new model of shadows from cubics, i have no idea why it behaves like that you can open one model , make LOD 10000, delete in "properties" "LodNoShadow 1" and save and you will see how stupid model look and how stupid soldier look and sometimes you will see shadows even on back of soldier ! just like he is transparent what concerns weapons : when i have large and good quality picture weapon look super because this STG is my bigest pride, best model made untill today, maybe other WW2 mod will make more detailed ? weapons with ARMA BIS made texture (but no shader maps): on G36C, AKMS, AKM, AK74M, Beryls, Colts there are BIS textures used, maybe JPG would be better standart for textures than PAA or PAC ? JPG can be 24 bit color and very high quality the problem is to find in Google high resolution photos, for example of AN94 or VSS i haven't found picture larger than 500 pixels of whole gun, such detail like receiver - sometimes have 200 pixels, from that source i cannot make good texture :/ if someone wanna cooperate and make some good and real looking textures of weapons - i am happy to join him Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Törni 0 Posted April 30, 2007 Slightly off-topic, does anyone know if it possible to have 4th crewmember in a tank in order to get tanks right? Now tanks have only three. In older Russian tanks AAMG is actually operated by the loader, but now the only option is to make loader's hatch as commander's position. It is not a big issue, but anyways would be nice to get it right. And a second one is it possible to have multiple external MGs that are operated by the turret crew? Additionally, retextured buildings and objects of Northern Sahrani are ready for release - everything made to look like People's Republic of Poland form the early 80's. Release planned for May 1st. topas 1 Posted April 30, 2007 Thx, Without the tools we've been only able to retexture the standard opfor guys. Nevertheless, they're equipped with polish weapons of that era made by Vilas. When proper tools are available they will get proper uniforms and gear - should look nice then, although soviet allies back those days, the LWP did not look like soviet clones.. they had their own unique uniforms, helmets and gears.
