straubinger82 3 Posted January 15, 2008 Oh, thanks for the info. I know that OWP-team too, but haven´t found much of them. They made very impressive choppers for OFP, and I think they have also done very nice Zil-trucks(?)... Nice to hear. So all energie can be solved for the origin Project 85^^. Good luck with it, looking here nearly every day..
topas 1 Posted January 15, 2008 Hi, back in action The picture is totally crap, but just letting you know I'm making a new M81 Woodland from scratch; WIP pic; 1st stage got the size right I think; made all the detail work as for now; ripstop applied - but you have to get really close to see it -> I did not want a grid visible form 5 meters... For now only BDU, PASGT is still in the works comments welcomed
belgerot 33 Posted January 15, 2008 Very nice job on that woodland texture, looks like an authentic worn piece from the earlier era. I've come across a few woodland BDU's from around that time and the screenshot matches them rather well.
Sevan 0 Posted January 15, 2008 One thing I noticed about almost all of the units so far, especially Soviet units, is missing insignia. Is it planned to add these in the final release?
topas 1 Posted January 15, 2008 One thing I noticed about almost all of the units so far, especially Soviet units, is missing insignia. Is it planned to add these in the final release? I for myslef would find it a good idea. I am about to ask Clavicula about some US patches that would fi in that era; there are some quite obvious choices that concern the Polish troops; as for the Soviet Army - I would not know; guys responsible probably wil know.. As for the G.I's.. today's progress on M81 -new ALICE suspenders -new M16 mag pouches texture -PASGT more to come
Shadow NX 1 Posted January 16, 2008 Back in buisness and already another texture bomb dropped. I love it, lot better than the version we had before, matches the old 80s US jacket i have perfectly. Just make sure its not to dark, the old units were really dark looking, however from first screens all seems ok. About insignia on soviets, well im unsure what to add, officers wont wear berets on the battlefield so they have fieldcaps, also no unit has a suit that allows to add shoulder boards or something. Mot.inf had red patches before but few people told me to get rid of it for battlefield troops. So whats left will be a little star on the fieldcap
IronTiger 0 Posted January 16, 2008 Great job topas!
topas 1 Posted January 16, 2008 trouble sleepin'... Glad it's been approved so far... @Shadow -> I won't change anything in the colour scheme; 1st try was too bright and too similar to the CWR edition; considering what you've said about the darkness of the previous version I think the current one is a fair compromise what I need to polish though is the resolution/detail level of some parts (kinda stuck with it; must be my photoshop setings; will tweak and try) and adding some dust/worn material on knees/elbows maybe.. Don't want to spend much time on this as the'res already more work around the corner -> Green Berets.. and compared to what I have to do for them a PASGT vest is a walk in the park  Ok, this time really  PS: BIG thanxs to NSXr for suggesting the changes in first place and supplying with reference material
rediko 0 Posted January 16, 2008 Will it give now a M60A1\A3 or not?
Mr_Tea 0 Posted January 16, 2008 @Topas Good work on the Woodland camo so far.
Sevan 0 Posted January 16, 2008 I found this image. I thought I would share it to be used as possible reference. (of course not the camo pattern).
wld427 1705 Posted January 16, 2008 Will it give now a M60A1\A3 or not? Â there is already an M60 out there.....
vilas 477 Posted January 16, 2008 M60 machinegun, but not tank for tank I am asking someone who has model this Sevan picture is from Afghan war, those blue adidas copy sport shoes were in very hot environment, but not in central europe enviroment, when in 1985 there was no hot as now (don't start discussion about climatic changes here, i just only add my 2 cents that in summer now sometimes i don't know how to cool myself, while from childhood i remember snow to my knees, since few years we had no so much snow) so in such enviroment soviets will not wear tennis shoes
Shadow NX 1 Posted January 16, 2008 The VOG grenade pouch would be cool for our troops though but possibly a bit hard to model correct. Always wanted that detail but we can make it look as simple as in OFP anymore.
khayes 0 Posted January 16, 2008 @vilas : Rygugu is making an M60 for ArmA. He updated his blog with some WIP pictures, and it is really looking nice !
vilas 477 Posted January 16, 2008 we can detalise all but than we will be making Projet'85 year long, it will be 1 GB, noone will download because ARMA2, OFP2 will appear and every mission with such detalised and different gear soldiers will be loading 10 minutes those who seen P85 betas know that Soviets are divided, many models, in my personal opinion it is even too detalised it must be good in missions, not on "photography" topic for Nato vs. Warsaw Pact we probably will do NVA, UK para so making and making and improving and improving Soviets is pointless it is not addon VILAS_USSR it is fictional conflict in time of OFP in somewhere of central Europe
Shadow NX 1 Posted January 16, 2008 True but the VOG bags are a piece of kit that will help make the addon look perfectly authentic. But i respect your decission not to do it. Im already happy if we can agree on the other final things i suggested to you.
Sevan 0 Posted January 16, 2008 I respect your decisions completly. I too agree that it should not focus on looking pretty for photography. But I would perfer, and many would agree, that instead of having half a dozen unfinished looking countries, to instead have just a few very well done ones. Again, in the end it's up to the modders themeselves, It's obvious alot of work has been put into these units. my intention of posting the last picture was too show mostly the look of the cap and vest, not the adidas shoes. Â Quote[/b] ]Always wanted that detail but we can make it look as simple as in OFP anymore. Good point, but look at the detail the RHS units, and other similar projects, acheived even in OPF. vilas 477 Posted January 16, 2008 than we should do such thing to US soldiers, than we should find real equip used by gunners, than we should do pocket for NV goggles for officer, than we should do a lot of other equipment and we spent year on it Polish troops had different pockets for commando and reular infantry, so than i should do uniform without pockets on arms for infantryman and with doubled pockets on legs and pocket for knife on commando model a lot of small details and details and details really noticed only by specialists like some of people don't notice on other addons (OFP too) that AKS-74 has different reciver than regular AK74 even BIS making their AKS-74U and AKS-74 PSO haven't done: - scope mount - mechanism and button to lock buttstock who noticed it BIS made a game in which Army is in ACU but uses equipement of Marines so few pouches can left now grenadier holds VOGs in usual grenade pouch i can do such VOG pouch, but than what with US soldier ?
NSX 8 Posted January 16, 2008 2vilas Well, I can search for M203 grenade pouches for US army, so you can model army equipment for all armies properly. I guess greande pouch won't take few months to complete. Btw, check your PMs. It's about americans too. And btw, can you resize US magazine boxes? This is the '93 pic, but still with the same equipment. These boxes are a bit smaller than yours.
Shadow NX 1 Posted January 16, 2008 Vilas is right about all these little details but a VOG pouch is one of the typical russian look things, i dont need pouches for everything ( NV googles, PSO scopes etc. ) but thats a thing i really would like to see. VOG greande models are made with textures if needed and if wanted i can think of a concept how we can make a good lookign vog pouch. Also that will come handy for more modern units ( if we make such ). ---EDIT--- Heres a little teaser for the tank fans, not yet 100% finished, T-80B ( 1985 model ), BV variant will also be made. .kju 3245 Posted January 16, 2008 Excellent work guys Keep up and Vilas you have the completely right attitude. Gameplay over screenshots. People should rather move their ass and start doing WORK for themselves, than to talk unjustified crap..
