To be honest it isn't fair to call it content - I mean it is content allright, but not two dollars worth of it! crazy_o.gif

@ Stealth3

Google for "memtest".

It was an bad idea of Bethesda, to sell this as extrastuff.

When they didn`t get it in the game in time. When it couldn`t be in the first release of the game, it is not fair to charge money afterwards. This "extracontent" isn`t worth it money.

The problem is, if mods that come out in future use this stuff, you have to buy it, or you can`t use the mod. First mods of this type are out already.

Is anyone else sick of the lock picking interface on the PC version ? A little to slippery for me ,seems like it was meant for a controller :P

Seems the pc will always be the winner content wise.... Can't wait for the magic spell (future warrior) where you spawn a Sherman tank smile_o.gif ........joke

Tbh Any games that is designed acroiss a number of Platforms will never be as slick as a game that is designed for one.

and unfortunatley with the increase in the power of Console i feel this will start to become the norm for titles that aren't PC only.

It`s not only the lockpicking interface. The mousemovement in any menu is terrible. You will notice it in the inventory too.

I think the extra content was more an experiment, than a money grabbing evil scheme, to see how people would react, espically with the ammount of free-mods around for PCs (consoles are different, being hard to mod).. Taking money for it on the console version is probobaly going to be better accepted than on the PC version, but you cant charge for one, and not the other..

I also think in someway it was as a "dontation" to Bethesda, since they can take pretty much it all, as oposed to the publisher nicking large ammounts of it (from the acctualy game sale), which I'm not oposed to..

But this is allll just guess work, maybe Bethesda are completely evil money grabbing basta- erm *a perfectly normal buisness tounge2.gif

you can always copy the files off the disc to you hard drive and install it from there then grab a no-dvd patch, i use nocd/dvd patches for all my games, saves trawling through the mountain of disc and risk scratching them every time smile_o.gif

Thanks guys

Im pretty sure its a memory problem since I detected errors on the 1gb module.

Also, can you have memory sticks that are unbalanced. Meaning they are the same, except different density. Ex: 1gb and 512mb.

How would I get the files off the cd when the cd drive doesn't recognize something in the cd tray? confused_o.gif

I have a lot of problems with Oblivion... such as it being made for the consol and the PC gamers totally ignored. Not to mention the devs trying to sell crappy little mods that were finished long before the game was even released, thus should have been in the original game. Alsothe horrible, and rather large bugs still in the PC version... only going to prove that the 360 version was teh focus of the development.

But one thing I will say... as easy as the main quest is, there are still a massive amount of other quests. Many of which are a lot of fun, and very intresting. You can spend a LOT of time playing the game and never even touch the main quest (doing other quests of course... no need to go dungeon hoping, there pretty much all the same).

OB is a good game, but if the PC version was properly moddified to play on the PC, it would have been a lot better. Its very obvious the PC version is nothing short of a consol game playing on the PC... which is a kick in the face to all of us Elder Scrolls gamers who supported the Elder Scrolls all these years when it was a PC series. Bethesda has sold out to the 360 crowed, and forogt about thoes who made OB possible.....

the horse armour is really pathetic, theres only two types and when in game (after installing it) you get a message popping up telling you to go the the stables where you can get some free, after that its 500 gold to buy more, why on earth would anyone buy it for 2 "skins" as it were... i was expectig to see about 10 differnt variations ect but nop only 2

From what I'm seeing Bethesda didn't have much of a choice about charging for that bit of content. Many games for the 360 will be forced to do this. Seems microsoft is the stickler here, if people don't voice their discontent for the measly pay content it will keep happening.

As for the lock picking, I'm using the pick mold. But the interface still sucks!!! Wonder why no mods were made to fix it yet. If I could move the pick with the # pad it might be less frustrating.

theres a new official addon out now to buy called the orrery something to do with the mage guild.

i just cant get my head around the idea of buying a game and then paying for small addons, or like d&d and wow paying to actually play the game...

my understanding is that orrery addon just allows acess to a locked room in the mages guild and a quest or two. I havent been looking for it myself but its suppsodly already there in the game but the door is locked. Personely i think the charging for these minor addons stinks i wish more developers would take a leaf out of 1C Maddox's and BIS's books of giving away small freebies or things that didnt quite make the first release

il-2 series (1C Maddox) = almost 20+ planes and a number of new maps free addons/patchs

OFP (BIS)                    = Vulcan,SU-25,BMP-2,M2 Bradely ect

Oblivion (Bethesda)      = charge Šfor two types of horse armour and a room   huh.gif

Without the "addon" there is only a big empty room with a locked door.

The ESRB has just bumped Oblivion's rating from Teen to Mature. Breaking News here.

Reason why is because some bright fellow at Bethesda slipped in a nudie skin that can be unlocked via a third part mod, and the blood and gore was significantly more than what was present in the initial rating.

Now granted, this isn't the dredded AO rating that would have it tossed from Walmart. But that's because it's only a peep-show aka Titanic and not purient deviancy like CJ's ... in GTA3 Hot Coffee.

What this does mean in the short term is that little Timmy is going to get carded if he wants to buy Oblivion at BustBuy. Secondly Bethesda will have to relabel or remaster Oblivion to comply with the M rating or have it reduced. Blah-blah.

So, to discuss...

* Why do the dev's continue to slide stuff like this in?

A second announcement from the ESRB concludes with a paragraph about how mods for PC games are user-created programs that are not considered when assigning a game a rating and factoring how they can affect the content of game.

So, a mod didn't add the content. The content was put there by Bethesda. Looks like the ESRB could have taught Arthur Anderson a few tricks about how to incompetently audit data. Maybe then Enron would still be in business.

* Does the marketing potential to perverts outweigh the potential backlash?

* Yeah there's a potential backlash with the reduced marketability due to distributability of AO rated games, but is there really any real effect of even a M sticker on the box?

* How come the ESRB can't figure out how to rate blood and guts? Are the devs pulling the wool over their eyes, or 'upgrading' the gore afterwards? How about that +20 cursed dragontooth chainsaw of disembowelment?

I guess some people would have been victim of a heart attack when looking at Daggerfall.

Too much blood crazy_o.gif!? In my copy there's barely any blood and those rare blood splashes disappears after few seconds anyway.

It has a pegi rating of 16+ in europe.

The hell knows why, even with this topless mod you will not see anything more than every summer at the beach.
