7100 faces is already pushing it, and 25000 faces is just insane. Just because the engine supports higher polycounts doesn't mean you should triple the polycount with tiny details such as a 100% replica of tanktracks. Good addonmaking (and gamedesign) doesn't mean using every face until you reach the limit you were given, it's making something look as good as possible with the least number of faces (/vertices).

But anyone that sees things differently doesn't know what he is talking about, and is a 3D n00b, so I'll stop talking now icon_rolleyes.gif

If everything you are making is so overdetailed, then I'll wish you good luck on getting that to run at any positive framerate. OFP and ArmA are afterall games and not slideshows thumbs-up.gif

that is the problem, not the mapping.

JdB is right, it is no use modelling such details as srews and tanktracks, you'll never see them up close, it'll just eat all you pc's power.

7100 faces is fine for both ofp and arma, I would say.

yeah, i know but with the normal mapping, you take the image of the high polys model to put it, on the low poly model, so his high poly model will be useful for Arma.

25,000 faces for ARMA! And no interior yet?

OFP (bulldozer,oxygen) has a limit of 32,000 vertexes.Probably gonna be hard finishing your ARMA version with these tools.

Your addons are looking nice, mod is looking good.

D@nte is right, if petrtlach meant the "25.000" as the model with which to create normal maps, not the final model.

[Example] In the case of the tank this will save alot of faces.
