Strategy MOD!!! General_MOD

Recommended Posts

One of the best opportunity of OFP was general_MOD in Multiplayer or take the city. There you can build a base, buy squad, army, tanks, helicopters and so on. inlove.gif What do you think, if in multiplayer can be played 4 team, with some place where they can earn money if they take position... and build base, buy veich and squad... It will be the best game in the WORLD!!! In OFP was very easy to command of squads, I think it will be interesting If player can give orders to 10-20 bots... In over words, this mode will be more interesting if you will do good system of squad order...

CTI/RTS game type was not in OFP it self, it was scripted into user made missions. And yes, it will definately be in ArmA too, most likely the same way.

As stated above CTI/RTS was made by OFP players, not officle BIS staff. So weather itll be converted by the same people who made it to armed assualt it really up to them. But lets hope they do!

Well it's better than hello Operation Corridor-Shootout or hello Operation Battlefield. And it's going to happen and might lure lots of new players to ofp, especially if some reviewers mention this game type (that is quite unique combination of 1st person war game & real-time strategy).

Haha, sry to laugh at you, but you prolly never played a serious CTI game.

We (the ctitc comunnity) have a league, where strategy and realism come in first.

I think there is no misson that can offer more. CTI uses everything that OFP has. wink_o.gif

I will bring the discussion to this thread since we are speacking about CTI.

CTI (CRCTI and MFCTI) are the most missions played on gamespy and OFP. THe problem is the increasing of cheats and exploits by players that are making us (and others) stop playing this mission and ruining the game.

I would suggest BIS to make some ultimate patch or help mod makers to protect their code from being exploited.

Thanks

CTI is probably the best example of the 'open code/modding ability' principle in action. Can you imagine anything remotely like it in any other game?

Besides, there're still alot of G36N00bsters [:P] CTFs and all that kind of stuff around anyway, as well as a healthy coop community. OFP caters for a wide audience due to different game types.

The only thing I don't like about CTI is I have to buy and build units. If I had reinforcements that would come in I wouldn't mind but I don't want to have to take towns for money, just for strategic value. I feel too much like a PMC if I take over towns for the money.

Sry, but CTI kind of stinks imo, been there, seen it, its awfull.

Player A conquered town C, team makes money, builds a factory? barracks? crazy_o.gif

You make money and build stuff out of thin air in war? Please.. then the strategy ruins the gameplay has the already limited amount of players are always spread out in the map, it enforces the rambo G36/M21/rpg gameplay even more because players have to be too versatile, independant and mobile, same for the lone tank/chopper riders, it involves strategy but makes the game actually play just like battlefield.

Incorporating C&C elements in a 20 vs 20 (if ever that much) environment simply kills any atempt of military simulation and squad play the game ever had.

I do apretiate objective based adversarial teamplay but with equipment and objectives that make the mission feel like a real military operation, not small scale C&C where every soldier is a sniper/AT unit capable of operating all available vehicals in the military and make buildings and stuff appear out of thin air plus... money??, that is even worse than operation battlefield biggrin_o.gif .

I apretiate the skill, work, concept and everything, i just dont like the result, when we have so many people striving for realism and nitpicking about the acuracy and realism of every addon released its a bit disapointing to see it all being used like this confused_o.gif .

Flashpoint is neither a corridor shooter, battlefied game, or a C&C game imo. Its a good thing people can do alot out of it but i sure hope BIS will never remove the realism out of it.

It's not even supposed to be realistic, but fun & potentially strategy-based game, not a simulation of war, a game. I do get what you're saying but I don't understand why does it bother you that some folks like cti, since it doesn't take anything away from you, but adds a game type to some who like it and who might not even play ofp without it.

Sure, I don't like ctf at all, but I don't mind if some people like it and play it.

I really like CTI, I used to play it just as single player against AI as it's often one of the few ways you can plan on new islands with new addons and such smile_o.gif

Guys, what do you think those statements from ArmA press-release mean: wink_o.gif

Multiplayer

# Large, persistent battles.

# 60+ player multiplayer (plus additional AI), players can join at any time.

# Unique game modes introducing modes of play not seen in any other game.

@heatseeker

I get your point, but dont forget about the AI groups every player has.

Capturing a town, attacking a base with tank squads, or Black-op style stacheling a base... All feel like little coop single missons with total freedom.

But I have to agree that most public games have a lot of rambo players. The good thing is that crCTI does not give them a chance, because there is AI all over the map  pistols.gif

But im not here to advertise CTI, just to rectify some misunderstandings  biggrin_o.gif

@placebo

Just wondering, do you ever play in public MP games (under different name prolly)?

@antichrist

Seems it will be super Engine for CTI games. Imagine 30 vs 30 games, with Players all over the HUGE maps. It would be so cool to have a huge totalwar going on for more then 10 hours with JIP.

Im going to spend too much time to ArmA Im affraid...

I believe what you say is true for most random CTI games.

It's however not true in competitive CTI games.

The 144 units per side leads to pretty intense battles as long as the map isn't too large.

It's impossible for a team to be successful unless the members carry out the overall battleplan.

As to the money, it's required. Otherwise you'd not have any incentive to secure the area behind the front, something which is very realistic.

As for building stuff in war? You really do.

I've not heard of any army that doesn't have the majority of the manpower working on constructing/supporting things for the troops.

I don't think I've ever played on a public server with OPF, most of my MP (back in the day) was Co-op with a group of friends smile_o.gif

CTI doesnt "bother" me, same has the also popular fast paced cqb ctf maps dont bother me, i just dont play them and i hope the game itself wont be too influenced by game types that it wasnt meant to play.

The flexibility should still be there so people should still be able to adapt and play it how they like best smile_o.gif .

Do anyone at BIS play public multiplayer?

It sometimes feels like you don't. banghead.gif

Why would they play public old OPFR when they have to betatest their own current WIP's wink_o.gif .

Heatseeker - You are on to something. With the increase in the number of players (with additional AI) you could do just about anything you can think of. What bugs you about the current style of CTI, and what would be more realistic?
