AFAIK it´s not from Vit. It´s conversion from BF 1942: Desert Combat. I had this MH-53 also on my HD a long time ago.

This is the only pic i found so fast from the DC Chopper

The first thing u should say is "hey guys, this isnt actually my model or texture I CONVERTED this model from DC mod" and not "hey guys look what i made". gets people confused. imagine how u would feel if u came into a forum with pics of ur stuff (funny huh) with a guy saying "and today i made this version".

Also post about it AFTER u get permission, so as to not give ppl false hopes. Addons for urself stay to urself please.

if i was the original maker of that chopper and i saw ur post, THAT would make me wanna quit. please dont try justifying theft. And besides all i said was just do proper crediting, nothing about him being a thief or anything else. Im just telling u a modmakers point of view.

Never said i dont like 'ur' addon all im saying is that please oh please straight away state the facts it avoids uncomfortable moments like "hey wait a minute havn't i seen that somewhere before?" and make it seem like u counted on the fact that noone ever would notice and u wouldnt have to tell.

Saying that is all well and good but when someone rips off one of your models you wont be saying the same thing.

And just for the record the vast majority of decent addons makers do make their own stuff from scratch.  if they dont it shows up pretty damn quickly when they are released.  People that dont know how to model usually end up with very high poly models that just dont work well in game.

Now if you convert something with the authors permission then 'well done' if you dont get it then expect to be exposed.  its happened int he past and it'll happen again.  

...and to be honest its more the attitudes of people that dont respect copyright that encourage decent addon makers to leave the community.

They just don't understand. For those who think it's all good and fine, try opening O2, 3DSMax, or any other modeling program and spend hours and days of your personal time developing that same exact chopper from scratch for free - for a community that you expect to respect your work. After you've done so, come back and re-read this thread and maybe, just maybe, you'll begin to understand.

BTW: I'm not pointing the finger at Vit, just those who think its fine to convert work and not give credit for it and/or releasing other peoples work without permission first.

And yes, Vit you never said that it would be your chopper, but the people had got the impression by showing the pics. I don´t want to blame you or so cos you done a lot of good stuff.

i just want to do good thinks and good addons to OFP bcz i love this game and i happy thet pepole enjoy my addons.

i dont care if somebody take parts from me addons and used some of the texture or 3d model really.. bcz its for our OFP community (just write what you take from my addon )

All my work here its free and on my spere time and i do it bcz i love it...  and just for you knew i work on one add-on weeks..

to find all the bugs and to crate better and better addon

Can you check to see if the AI can bomb straight with the addon. I downloaded a Mig23/27 recently and the AI was dropping bombs sometimes 100's of metres short.

Hmm...well he said its not his and thats good and all,first thing I would have done was tried to get the consent of a team member from Desert Combat and ask permission to use or change their stuff,kind of like OFP addon makers or editors do to others,I asked Inquisitor and King Homer if I could use their stuff to modify the M60A1 to the M60A3,had they said no it wouldn't be existant right now.

Only reason I could see people being angry about this AFTER all this when and if its released if you get all the credit,thats about it and would tick off a good many community members no doubt.

I admit that its a large loss,that helicopter,however if you want to really make others happy as well as yourself you could start one from scratch or do textures n such,gives you a great feeling and all people will pick at ya about is that somethings wrong on it but nothin as major as accusing you of theft.

Btw, i think u better double check, becuz AFAIK the Desert Combat team (Chaos studios (???)) was bought by makers of BF (DICE) thus all their stuff is their property and i think its copyrighted. Im not sure but double check anyway.

Good point that..

But I thought that Chaos studios had been sold by EA and it was disbanded?

Either that or they moved operations to another DICE loaction and the DC boys could not relocate, so I think they are dead in the water.
