There is no intention to create a super ship, but only attempt to showcase its actual weaponery, had to discard some weapons as it is already very powerful - cannons, gun, missiles and guided tracking missiles like 'behind enemies lines' movie type with satallite views! HotShot 0 Posted March 25, 2005 Nice ship, like the auto cannons, havn't tested the ship against missiles yet, but like to see how they react to them if they were classed as a west vehicle (thinking of that bit in 'Sum Of All Fears' film where the US Carrier's Vulcans blow up the Russian missiles). philcommando 0 Posted March 26, 2005 To use ship Plug and play type. Just give it a name and everything is on auto mode to attack West side. It is a movable type ship with full 150m geolod support  To use cannons(AK130 -130mm cannon, AK630 - 30mm AA guns) and missile(Gadfly) Any West side vehicles within range will be shot down. The AK130 can only fire targets above 10m while the AK630 can fire at any height. Auto play, simulating the actual ship's fire control system. To use Moscit/Moskit missile(Kh-41 (ASM-MSS) Moskit) Ship controlled guided land-air-surface antiship missile. Operator launch. It will automatically seek out West vehicles, but for play improvement, i had made it with a tracking script to hunt specific targets. Just name the targets targetplane1 to targetplane4 - up to 4 targets. It will automatically seek out the targets one at a time. If none present it will circle within a radius close to ship for any enemy until fuel runs out. Best use on land vehicles although it can track flying crafts and can also be shot by aircraft or vulcan. To land heli on ship It is possible as long as the ship is at 0 speed. The pilot and crew can walk onboard with waypoints present from stern to bridge. Front is not accesible. To use Torpedoes Oops!...no torpedoes. It's easy to create them like the moskit missile but the cannons and guns are already too realistically powerful. Furthermore, no underwater subs...at least no yet... To use Satellite I tried to make it easy - just name the targets as targetplane1 to targetplane4. Once u launched the moskit missile, click on SatView and will bring u to the satellite view. Wait a few moments as the missile homes in on target. Once target destroyed, the satview will fade back to normal view and create another addaction for satview2 and so on. If there are no targets, clicking on satview will fade back to normal view. Drawback of satview is that if missile fails, u will be stuck on satview and cant do anything, and will have to exit out. Best use on surface targets as satallite is the stationary type and aint the tracking type Try not to link the ships as they are already on automode and have already a crew, almost up to the ofp max limit. An oversight not to add a dammage line to the eventhandler to destroy guns should ship dies...Tks for the feedback Edit: On further testing, i realised West AI aint stupid - the team will attempt to shoot down the weapons and disable them first. Before anyone accuse me of giving this ship superpowers, do read the link from the 1st post - it will tell u the actual weaponery details of this ship which i scaled down for gameplay. This ship aint no sitting duck! For gameplay and i suspect in real this would be how these ships can be taken taken down if long range missiles cant be used - 1) 1st wave of fastmovers such as F16 and F15 would be missile decoy 2.) 2nd wave of Medium moves such as A4s take out the weapons 3) 3rd wave of Bombers to clean up the sea. Tested this concept..damn! my ratio is 15 destroyed planes to 1 disabled ship. miles teg 1 Posted March 26, 2005 Overall I really like this destroyer Phil.  However.... a few bugs...  I can't seem to get the surface to surface missiles to work.  When I use the AI launch script, the missiles don't seem to want to hit any target.  Instead they do some unusual behavior such as skidding down a road before blowing up against a tree or fence.  I saw several of the missiles "driving" down a road in front of me once after I stuck 4 triggers to fire 4 of them. Also what I would like to see is perhaps sometype of artillery system added to it where the big 130mm cannons can be used in more then just a direct fire mod.  Right now so far I haven't seen them engage ground targets at all actually.  Usually the AA defense guns  engage both aircraft and attacking boats or shore targets. Speaking of the AA guns, one area where the destroyer could also be improved is to make these guns gattling style guns like the real thing.  They don't have to rotate or anything like that since normally you are never close enough to notice that level of detail.  However it would make them look closer to the actually air defense guns mounted on these types of ships. At any rate, as far as the missiles go, maybe I'm doing something wrong.  You might perhaps want to include a small demo mission (with no other 3rd party addons) in the next update to demonstrate some of its functions.  But overall I really like this alot. Now if only I had one of those KA-25 helicopters on it maybe with some rocket pods.  I think Vit did one a looooooong time ago but it was rough and I don't think he ever updated it.  Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD> Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Regarding the moscit missiles, u would have to put a name to the target - targetplane1 - it is hardcoded into the addon so that it wont confuse and mess up other scripts. U can use up to 4 predetermined targets - targetplane1 to targetplane 4, as the original vessal carries only 4 or at times 8 such missiles. I have notice that the moscit missiles will only attack empty or live vehicles and not buildings. Will test further if i can duplicate the problem u mentioned. Regarding the cannon, due to ofp limits of firing on line of sight, i could not extend the barrel down otherwise it will be firing on the ship itself. As such, any object on the shoreline or sea below 10m height will not be shot by the cannon. However, anything above is deadmeat to these cannon. I believe this ofp limit of firing line can be easily broken and will attempt over the hill long range kinda artillery fire in my next upgrade. Edit:- (the moscit missiles skidding along a road and hitting tree instead of hitting target?..darn..either it used too much vodka as fuel or the guidance system folk, due to bad times, strip off the devices and sold it to Osama! ) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
