A superb work of ORCS has been released , with an updtaed weapon pack full of greatness.

how much different are the 3 versions?

Are the high res one's more or less laggy then say,,, HYK?

the low version = 256*256 textures

medium res = 512*512 textures

high res = 1024*1024 textures

i use the medium textures with my radeon 9600 256 mb because i use Y2k3

These are good looking units, but there's one big but: These units are way too accurate!!! once I made a conversion of "battlefields" single mission and I got tired when all of my guys were getting killed before the lined defence!!!

So, I will play with these, but I wont make any missions for them, 'cause I'm gonna chacne they'r config's for my own purposes...

Y2K3 has ALWAYS used ORCS infantry since version 5.0 wink_o.gif

and yes these are thankfuly STILL compatable smile_o.gif

but i personaly am using version 1.5 since 2.0+ i havnt liked the default soldier has the branchs in the helmet.. and only about 2% of the entire platoon would do that.. and ONLY in jungle terraign.. mabe wooded too. but it looks dumb in OFP for 6 out of 9 soldiers in teh squad to have leaves sticking out of thier head (personal opinion) and the machine gunner/RPG soldier looks like they are wearing pajamas rather then military uniforms. the textures are a bit too bright.

im still lovin 1.5 ORCS did a good job there smile_o.gif

Snypa, the attack done in the Battlefields mission is nothing short of a WW1 charge into a mg trench... And we all know how those mostly ended.

I did a little test where I placed 1 sqd och HYK '85 (JAM, but not HD) in a defence position in a litte depression with a cluster of trees and bushes. The HYK soldiers open up at some 250 meters, starting with the 60 gunner, and the russians gett massacered every time. They manage to fire back but they seldom hit anything and often legg it just to get shot in the back running away.

They might be accurate in their shooting but they are not unbeatble, unless you try WW1 "tactics" on them.

no i didnt, because i didnt bother looking at it due to the textures after 1.5 got really light and blury. for example look at the machine gunner up close/ he is wearing green pajamas with dark splotchs on them crazy_o.gif but in 1.5 he has dark green camo with noticable camo patterns.

these brighter textures work on pacific islands like wake, but not on everon and nogova. they just stand out like a green thumb tounge_o.gif

im not sayin thier addon is bad.. i just liked the older version better myself

SOBR is Special Fast - Reaction Unit of Russian Ministry Of Inner Affairs.

EDIT: BTW, is this OMON troops doing their job in Tsenenia (god damn, I don't know how write that tounge_o.gif )? Or are they only like police special force like SWAT?

OMON is Police Special Squad (something like SWAT), but they are used in Chechnya.

Very nice units, ORCS! Small bug report:

<ul>[*]They wiill not work properly in MP on dedicated servers.

[*] config.cpp has unbalanced {}:s in CfgGroups

MP problem Reason: they lack a proper addon dependency declaration.

The fix: Add this requiredAddons[] line in CfgPatches:

requiredVersion = 1.85;

The config lacks one last closing "};" for the CfgGroups part at the very end of the file.
