Ammo Bar in OFP2?

Recommended Posts

Will the Ammo Bar be there in Operation Flashpoint 2? Because I hate it. OFP is supposed to be a realistic game, but when you shoot this ammo bar with the number of rounds left in the gun pops up which totally ruins the realism and atmosphere IMO. What you can do instead is to add a button so the player will unload his gun and check how many rounds there are left in the mag and then load it again. Any thoughts?

I want options for everything tounge_o.gif

you take aim, you fire... then... *pling!*

Quote[/b] ]Are you sure you want to kill this AT Soldier?

Anyhow, an option to enable / disable it would be good, It's great fun to being able to play without the "you are here!" arrow and "leader is here!!" thing, especially against a clan who allways plays with biggrin_o.gif .

But combined with a sound message it would be great!

*last shot*

"Hmmm I think my magazine is empty"

20 seconds later

"Hmmm I think my magazine is empty"

or someting like that biggrin_o.gif

I think there should be options to remove individual HUD items for all classes. For example when you're infantry you can choose to hide the ammo counter but have the speed and fuel indicators to come up when you get into an aircraft for example, or not depending on whether you want them shown.

I don't think it would be good to have the player say that his magazine is empty, because i don't think in reality a trained soldier would say aloud to himself that he is out of ammo.

But I do agree that you should hear the click of the firing mechanism.

Since a rescent time, I do not even need the ammo bar, because I count in my had how many shots are left. I think to disable it would be a good idea smile_o.gifsmile_o.gif

I think previous suggestions for optional disabling of certain features, for both single play and multiplayer games would be a good thing.

Yes, just a key press would be great, aslong it stays away from the action-menu keys. Dont want to be fixing the HUD because of pressing the wrong key when some enemy is spraying u down behind a rock.  crazy_o.gif

that is exactly what you supposed to do.

Scream loud as hell (dont know what americans, britts are trained to say) something like "magazine", and then you reload, your combat friend knows you out of ammo so he "covers", and then you say "done" or fire 2 rounds.. (atleast thats what our officers learnt us.. if its global i have no idea)

hmm, is it safe to yell that you are out of ammo? the enemy might hear it too ...

I'm not in favour of standard phrases coming out of a first person perspective, already the standard phrases of other units can drive you mad at times

I once had a cartoon of that, anyone seen it too?

it showed that OFP is perceived as the game that says

"oh no two is down"

"oh no three is down"

"oh no four is down"

etc.

I`ve heard it only in the movies, but it`ll be nice detail...

especially if one of your AI boys could throw you mag without the chain of 1/2/44/3/5/2/:P commands...and if not, i`ll survive without this kind of information.

other thing is that it`ll need a couple of randomly chosed voice files/ ai is able to use it for ex. with the last mag/

"aaaaammo!" or "reloooooad!" are possible only if you have at least one person under your command, or if you`re under command of ai (so there will be no "reloaaad" in lone wolf spec op missions smile_o.gif

It could be also implemented as sound after the

1/2/44/3/5/2/ commands, because you`ll be able to controll it.

to summ up:

"relooooaaad" yes, after a single reload

"ammoooooo" yes, after the last mag + ai automaticly gives you a mag

Somebody wrote that he want ofp to be more vocal...

Sounds, i mean especially voices of ai can really do the job.

but it`s another topic

I'd go for the plane's/car's own meters. well modern planes have HUDs and stuff along with the meters.

well of course but who plays in cadet mode *wink wink* tounge_o.gif

anyway. a click when the mag runs out of ammo should be enough.

They do - even when they know they are out of ammunition.

Brits shout 'magazine' when reloading - so that the guy they are fire manouvering with knows that they are down and not firing, and doesn't move/ gets down asap.

Same when they get a stoppage (which happens a lot with over zealous cleaning) - shout 'stoppage.'
