hellfish6 7 Posted November 19, 2004 Actually, I don't think a Pacific Island would be too bad at all. The Solomons, Micronesia, etc. I could be very happy with no TV, Internet or trappings of civilization. Especially people.

Frisbee 0 Posted November 20, 2004 no TV, Internet or trappings of civilization. Especially people. Oooh...I'd die. I enjoy my confinement away from people sometimes, but still need it occasionally. And no internet? That'd be torture. I could probably stay everywhere in the EU, I'd prefer Sweden, or even Holland, because they seem interesting to me, and they have better broadband ISP's. Worldwide...hmmm Canada (western, less crowded and nice scenery ), Australia (western but with a better climate) or maybe Japan, even though that I think that the cost of living and the culture clash would make me not like it *all* that much. I'm fairly happy here so far, I'll see how I think about it when I have to enter the job market. ^^
feersum.endjinn 6 Posted November 20, 2004 Hmm, I'm pretty happy everywhere as long there's warm place and soft bed. But I kinda liked Hong Kong and definitely would like to spend some more time there, it was interesting place but unlike mainland China, you could escape back into western pubs and restaurants among other expats any time you got just too homesick. And subtropic weather was nice.
crashdome 3 Posted November 20, 2004 I would like to live in China. Provided I had Diplomatic Immunity... and they acknowledged it.  Other than that, Milwaukee, Wisconsin isn't all that bad. People joke about Wisconsin alot..they say it's full of rednecks, Canadians, fat women.... all stereotypes. Sure, when you head out into the wilderness it gets alittle nuts, but Milwaukee IMO is a nice place to live if you want to settle down. We are like the smallest large city in the US - meaning we have everything that a normal city has only much much smaller. Not alot of clubs and night life, but everything here is pretty cheap. and if you miss big cities... well Chicago is less than 1 hour drive. and if you miss rural life.. thats about 30mins away. It can't get much more reasonable IMO. ...... ..... get me the hell out of here

Jesus, You don't get enough of boring people and hockey where you live speedydonkey? I always thought of Austria (without Waldheim of course) as more exciting than Helvetia - but that could be down to some excellent Grüner Veltliners
engen 0 Posted November 20, 2004 I wouldn't mind living in the states, tbh. Perhaps in that Cuban colony called "Florida". Otherwise than that, Holland sounds like a nice alternative.
Sole 0 Posted November 20, 2004 Holland sounds like a nice alternative. Heh, that's funny, Sweden looks apealing to me. Wanna swap?
Ironsight 1 Posted November 20, 2004 Hmmm maybe either USA or China/Japan (North Korea ) or South Africa. But a in the Pacific would be cool too, as long as I get away from Europe, I get bored when I live too long on hte same place
Postduifje 0 Posted November 20, 2004 I'd like to live on an uninhabited island due to my disliking of the human spiecies . Anyway, anywhere in the EU would be fine, I'd like to try Czech Republic or Slovakia for a while. The Scandinavian countries are attractive too.

llauma 0 Posted November 20, 2004 I'd like to live in Tarhapää or Kukko in central Finland.. or maybe not. Honestly I'd like to live in Finland at least for a few years at some point. Oulu sounds like the closest option but Vaasa and Turku wouldn't be bad either.
ran 0 Posted November 20, 2004 Paris, one of the mansions in Montmartre, this would be only during winters and low seasons ... On the touristic season, I would just move to some nice mansion in Chatellerault or its surroundings to a smaller property on the Ile de Ré .... I'm working on this

Oulu sounds like the closest option but Vaasa and Turku wouldn't be bad either. Considering that you could understand my ramblings in finnish why did you leave in the first place? Just curious. I have never lived in Finland. I'm born in Sweden and I've lived here since that. My parents moved here from Finland in the 70's. So finnish was the first language I learned but I'm loosing a word or two every day so to not loose everything I need to move there before it's too late. I speak fluent finnish with "pohjanmaa"-accent but my finnish vocabulary is worse than my english. When I speak "finnish" with my friends who also know finnish we add alot of swedish words which we bend so they become finnish. If you instantly don't come up with the right finnish word you just take the swedish word for it, otherwise our chat would have alot of pauses. Perhaps the best would be if we spoke swedish instead but it feels strange. It's like you would visit your friends and start speaking english to them.
