ozanzac 0 Posted November 10, 2004 There's very few games out there that go, beyond 'what you purchase'. In fact, many of them either don't lend themselves to be modified, or aren't good enough to be modified in the first place. And seeing as most of us here try to keep up with OFP addons, I'm just wandering, what other games do you guys actively seek to update/upgrade through user made addons? And for the very gifted, what other games do you mod? I'll start by confessing I have no, or very little talent for modifying, other than knowing where to put the files I download. Among the games I actively seek addons for, and occasionally voice my opinion in associated forums, are: OFP (of course) Racer: Free car Simulation Geoff Crammond's GP3 & 4 Falcon 4.0 LOMAC European Air War IL2:FB Call of Duty There are other games I have that are modified, but no longer have enough interest in them to actually seek, or passively allow freinds to do the updating for me at LAN's, such as BF1942, Counter Strike and Need For Speed: Underground. GoOB 0 Posted November 10, 2004 Here are mine: OFP (until OFP2 comes out ) Rainbow Six: Raven Shield Neverwinter nights Although, most of the time I spend infront of the computer is now spent studying (or trying to), and communicating. Via IRC, communities and MSN. Somehow gaming has become a secondary function.
feersum.endjinn 6 Posted November 10, 2004 I've probably tinkered around with just about every game I own... That's what hex editors and disassemblers are for Lately, besides OFP only mods I can remember downloading were realism mods for Rome: Total War and Kegetys' Flatout camera mods. -ZG-BUZZARD 0 Posted November 10, 2004 OFP (nr1 customizable game - just copy-paste and use in the mission editor... doesn't get better than that!!!) Far Cry (now that one's tough...) that's it for now (I'm not counting Battlefield 1942 or Half-Life since mods for those are easily available but they're not in need of "customization" like OFP and Far-Cry in which the base is ok). Â Edit: GTA 3 of course, how could I forget...

Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted November 10, 2004 I bought Vice City just a few days ago. It was pretty cheap so I thought I go for it. Awesome game with great Mods and addons available. This is the good thing about buying older games, it doesnt take you a second to find excellent prefectioned addons & Mods. Vice city, the graphics are embarrassing but the game is just great. Thumbs up!
Supah 0 Posted November 10, 2004 I know the Microsoft Flightsimulator Series always allowed a lot of third party content. I edited some panels and skins for airplanes long before I got in to OFP mod making
Akira 0 Posted November 10, 2004 I know the Microsoft Flightsimulator Series always allowed a lot of third party content. I edited some panels and skins for airplanes long before I got in to OFP mod making Oh yeah. Totally forgot about that. I've downloaded a ton of stuff for FS2004, usually paint kits which I repaint to my personal livery.

IceFire 0 Posted November 15, 2004 You know, this thread reminds me of an old controversial debate regarding the release of the "Oxygen" tools which can be used to make OPF mods in the first place. Those of us who were opposed to it warned of every dick tom and harry making their own mods and therfore being a high number of low quality mods everywhere where everyone is doing their own thing. The supporters of Oxygen argued that it would be like Darwins theory of survival where all the bad mods would be swept away while the good ones will last. Well I think we have been proved right about the dangers of releasing modding tools to players. Now there are so many mods out there most of us cannot even keep track of it. It is so overwhelming for me that I have only yet downloaded the Operation Frenchpoint mod. I just don't know what else to try. There is TOO much out there and that is why we have this chaos. I think for OPF2 only the developers should be able to make additions to the game in the form of patches. All official, and all fully compatible.
ozanzac 0 Posted November 15, 2004 I ask that all replies to IceFires post be directed towards a new thread which he created, here. This thread is purely interested at looking at the other games that forum users also have an interest in modifying and expanding, in order to boost longevity and experience of those selected games. colonel_klink 0 Posted November 15, 2004 OFP is uno numero in my opinion. Have d/l and created addons for it since I first bought the game eons ago. IMO OFP gets better all the time even though the engine is old but at least is aging gracefully. Soldiers:Heroes of WW2 is a nice game but I havent seen any single player mods/missions for it yet. IL2: Sturmovik far outstrips the CFS series IMO Call of Duty is cool but gets a bit repititious and there aren't very many single player mods for it. I've downloaded a few missions for LOS:Vietnam and the Deadly Dozen, but they dont have the support that OFP has. I made some content for Trainz which I enjoy, but doesnt have the same appeal as OFP which has more immersive interactivity.
