Recommended Posts

hey im going to start using this but im a bit wary of the

Quote[/b] ]Note! Do NOT copy the d3d8.dll into your windows system

directory, doing so will break Direct3D from your system!

in the readme so i do i not extract that file or do i still xtract it ?

and extracting it to the windows system does that just mean extracting anywhere on the computer ?

it looks so great and i want to give this a go after so long of hearing about it

thanks

If your unsure look back on this thread - sorry cant remember which page (in the 1st 30 pages somwhere I think)! There is a self-intalling Exe version for download that was created.

I wasnt sure what to do so used it and it worked for me!

If you cant find it PM me and i'll e-mail it to you..

You do extract d3d8.dll, but not to C:/WINDOWS. It should be put in youre Operation Flashpoint main directory.

The file location of my d3dd8.dll is:

C:\Program Files\Codemasters\OperationFlashpoint.

i don't know if kegetys reads this or not, but dxdll's ability to turn itself off when the player is viewing the map doesn't work with WGL 5.0. any idea of what may be causing the problem?

for me,dxdll is great for making good screenshots, not for playing because framerates going to low to play. with activated dxdll i got

around 4-11 fps in missions with many units, and around 16fps in missions like the BIS mission "Cleansweep". i can do what i want, no af + aa, only 800x600 resulution, minimal details etc. - framerates are everytime very low. i can run doom3 and HL2 in highest settings and they run smooth like a dream. when im deaktivating dxdll i can run ofp in high details with 8xaa +8xaf and i have good framerates around 30 - 60 fps dependently from the mission specifics how many units etc. engine: p4 3ghz, 2gb kingston ddr ram, nvidia GF6800Gt 256mb gddr3 with driverversion 77.77 and a terratec dmx 6fire soundcard. i think this pc must be able to handle dxdll. its a very cool effekt but unfortutunately useless for good gameplay, just for good screenshots.

The newer the video drivers the worse the performance it seems.

I can't seem to get AA to work using this, unless I'm being a noob and missed a setting somewhere in the configurator. I have a 6800 GT.

thx. i know thats a driver issue, but i hoped that someone knows an other solution for the low framerate problem as a driver change.

ofp is not the only game thats running on my pc and most of the newer games need higher drivers as 66.93. damn nvidia! with my favorite flightsim IL2 i have missing textures and other graphic bugs in highest settings and its also an driver issue. dam it! so my solution for higher framerates is unfortunalety a deinstall of dxdll mad_o.gif

I've found water reflections are the system killer for me at least. With a GF 6800GT and view distance set to 2.5km, with reflections I get around 10fps, without I get 40+

I've got a question. I had DXDLL working beatifully, until I decided to un-install OFP, then reinstall it. After installing DXDLL again, the oceans are messed up, basically the same color as the horizon/sky: white. I followed the installation instructions (I think) and did it twice. When I remove the DXDLL folder and file, the problem disappears. What am I doing wrong?  crazy_o.gif

Have you tried running the preferances thing? Make sure Hardware T&L is on and not just regular Direct 3D. I noticed that when trying to make it more stable with a recent windows update (for some retarded reason it randomly freezes up for like a week every time I install a Windows update then it fixes itself. It's been doing it for about 6 months now, damn Windows).

You could try to change the line in your flashpoint.cfg manually and then write protect it, if HW&TL worked before this should do aswell

Hi there,

ive got some problems with DXDLL sad_o.gif

Some time ago, i had problem with alttabing. It worked finally, when i set refresh on 85Hz, but when i installed DXDLL it started again. huh.gif

One more problem is with NVG effect. It works only at night without NVG, but when i put it on, it stops so i have to turn off postprocessing always, when its night.

Any suggest how to repair these bugs?

(if here is one these problems wroten, sry, but this topic has 77 pages, and im a bit lazy to read all of em wink_o.gif )

And sry for my english too, i hope u know, what i want to say smile_o.gif
