Ninja_STO 0 Posted June 27, 2004 I have been looking for the Ultimate PC for use with gaming as well as personal office use. So far, this is the best I have found available, and have thought of getting a bank loan soon to buy it. It's a LOT of money, but when you see the options see why. If anyone knows of something better for about the same price range, please let me know. Thanks. L MachL 3.8 GHz

Ninja_STO 0 Posted June 27, 2004 So I take it the possible 16GB of RAM, 2 Terabytes of storage, Radeon 9800 Pro/ XT Graphics, and other features are still not the best options for this price range? This will also be a computer used for home office, as well as gaming. And I'm wanting a system that doesn't need upgraded for quite some time.

But it doesn't have 64 bit, if I bought an insane-ass system like that I would expect it to last me years, I think you'll be feeling the lack of 64 bit which is becoming standard... Ninja_STO 0 Posted June 27, 2004 Yeah, I'm getting married soon and would like to save enough to start a family. And my fiancee is not an ex of Donald Trump, so it will be me earning most of the pay. And since I'm looking to reenlist soon, having a home business seems to be a good idea. Spend my days on post or in the field, and spend a few hours a night working at home. Besides, I need a better gaming PC too other than this wanker of a 900MHz.
SpeedyDonkey 0 Posted June 27, 2004 To actually get 16GB of RAM would cost another 3999$. Your normal day applications will hardly ever need more then 1 gb of ram. And you won't see any difference in games. I would rather pick an AMD 64 from a normal computer store, for a much much better price.
mr burns 132 Posted June 27, 2004 a friend of mine just sold his "Vapo Chill" case on ebay. he ran his amd 1700 @2400 mhz with -40° celsius but the counterside was hat the compressor needed too much power (his power supply couldn´t handle it) and also it was kinda overdone... i´ll stay with good old air cooling
theavonlady 2 Posted June 27, 2004 Yeah, I'm getting married soon and would like to save enough to start a family. Then why in the world are you thinking of buying a luxury PC and even thinking about taking a loan for it? Quote[/b] ]Besides, I need a better gaming PC too other than this wanker of a 900MHz. So get a Dell Dimension XPS or XPS Gen 3 desktop or a Dell Insiron XPS notebook if you go for a portable. Save your money for more precious things in life, like your Miss Trump friend. Ninja_STO 0 Posted June 28, 2004 Well, I've got time to look into it. This model just has a few features I seemed to like a bit, such as the front LCD display, expansion capabilities (especially with so many PCI), and it's attractive. Since I'm going to be getting a loan for it, it is actually purchased for "business" use, even though I will be gaming on it also. There are some features I need for my work, such as multiple PCI slots and a lot of storage. I work with robotics often which use the PCI slots for testing and programming. And the Terabyte or more of HD space will help much with video and graphics editting too. (Not to mention all that porn j/k) But there are still a couple months before I can buy the computer, so I'll be looking into the suggestions made here to see if others are more suitable. I do appreciate the posts though, even the jokes.
black__bird 0 Posted June 28, 2004 Great! Now he's gone and hocked his fiance's engagement ring. Nice work, Schoeler! better not do that, i will get her on messenger if you do ninja...j/k. looks like a good setup, what does one run price wise? maybe i can get my boss to buy me one, or i can wait about 2 months and buy my own
BraTTy 0 Posted June 28, 2004 Wow that is alot of money I would buy a 1000$ or so computer and upgrade it throughout the years. I don't even drive a 5000$ car ! Of course I usually buy a wrecked car and fix it For 5000$ you could buy a few computers
killswitch 19 Posted June 28, 2004 Dear god what a ridiculous machine. I have yet to regain full control of myself after having visited that site and read the specs...*snif* no wait... ROTFLMAO What a hoax. And their specs/facts pages are full of terms that only a pointy-haired idiot boss-type person could have come up with... "Variable Data Depth Burst Priority"...."Enhanced Fast In-Transit I/O Buffering". No, please stop... where's the flux capacitor? I must have a flux capacitor! Please have a look at the rabbit on page 1 of this thread again. $3999 for an overclocked P4 with 256 MB? Listen, do you need a bridge too? I have one here. Slightly used, it's in Brooklyn, NY. It can be yours for only $9999. Damn...they should be taken to court and imprisoned. What a load of tripe. No, I don't have the time to dismantle in technical detail all that BS that they are trying to sell. By now, there ought to be info about this on the net. Goodness gracious. In short: do not take a bank loan to buy a computer, especially not what those scumbags are selling. That's sort of like mortgaging your house to buy exclusive Cuban cigars. For the love of your future marriage, stay far away from those snake-oil sellers, Ninja_STO.
theavonlady 2 Posted June 28, 2004 Listen, do you need a bridge too? I have one here. Slightly used, it's in Brooklyn, NY. It can be yours for only $9999. I paid 20% less. Seriously, Ninja, even if it's for business, it's overkill and a loan is debt, even for business. And I wonder whether Dell's leasing terms aren't cheaper for a machine that will easily meet your business and gaming needs. So, it won't look as fancy. Earmark the money for a few extra rounds of flowers, chocolates and dinner for two instead - an investment with returns - not a debt.
shinRaiden 0 Posted June 28, 2004 Bah, hypeage. Anybody with a recent ATI or Nvidia card can pop multiple monitors on a box, and you can add additional PCI cards as well. The puRam HD is a nice bit though, the 9800p/xt leaves something to be desired in that catagory, a x800 or 6800 would be more appropiate. DIY, and you won't regret it.
