hardrock 1 Posted October 5, 2004 ah yes it's been three times now that I forgot to mention that one. please add to your folding-wings-script that the wings fold when the speed of the plane is below
Wonder 0 Posted October 6, 2004 BTW Hardrock... Me and my friend are having a bet which will happen sooner: the release of your Eurofighter or the operational deployment of the real thing. ;)
hellfish6 7 Posted October 6, 2004 Yeah, I can't land on the carrier - I explode right after I hit the deck. I was all proud, as I've finally got good at those landings too.

Bobcatt666 0 Posted October 6, 2004 funny, you get them the F-14/Tomcat in record time as a beta, and they reward you with two pages of pissing and moaning how the _beta_ isn't good enough. Can see why hardly nobody else bothers creating aircraft for OFP anymore.. See how people are, bet why things like the Eurofighter and F117 are in delay, don't wanna release something unless 100 % sure its going to be bug free. Or just doing it to make people suffer.. ;) Baack to subject, just DLed it and getting a bit of time to put the plane through the wringer.

Can see why hardly nobody else bothers creating aircraft for OFP anymore.. Hm I think there's a misunderstanding. You can express your appreciation of an addon, but I think it doesn't really make sense to fill pages with comments like "oh it's so nice", "best addon ever", "it's sooo cool" and whatever without telling what you think could be improved. Such comments are good to give the addon maker a certain kick and to motivate him, but nothing is perfect so it's IMO very necessary to report bugs and say what could be improved. That isn't moaning or pissing in anyway, and especially because it's a beta positive critisism is required to achieve a "perfect" final version sometimes. (saying that since I often see comments like "how can you critisize it, it's only a beta")
Footmunch 0 Posted October 6, 2004 The wheel steering is an _error_ on my part. It's a small change in the config - add "wheelSteeringSensitivity = 2.5;" (without the quotes) to the Tomcat class in CfgVehicles if you want a 'preview' of the fix. HR - You meant to 'carry' the main texture inside the inlets a little bit? Done. Wing Stowing - I'll add this for when speed < 30 and z-pos is less than 50. Carrier Landing - I will 're-use' the gear from the A-6, once I've ironed out a few problems that the AI is having with it. Bobcatt - It's in 'beta' so that it can be tested. I _will_ miss things, or make errors, so any and all comments are appreciated.
nephilim 0 Posted October 6, 2004 looks nice onyl one critic point the markings never seen a f14 of the navy that had a navy sign on the the topside of the wings and most tomcats of the navy are held in grey tones same for the markings that differ from teh base only slightly over all a great model
Footmunch 0 Posted October 6, 2004 Neph - Yep, the 'black' US markings are too dark. I'll be lightening them slightly to better 'match' the main skin colour. Is the NAVY on the upper wings bad? Apologies. I'll remove it. As I said, the Beta is a bit of a 'mix' between skins. In the final, I'll do a 'low-vis' (shades of grey) modern 14D _and_ a more 'colourful' grey/white early 14A. bonko the sane 2 Posted October 6, 2004 i havent had much time to play OFP lately but all i can say is that this plane is excellent, i especially appreciate the shiney textures and the model

hardrock 1 Posted October 6, 2004 And I didn't say what you'd loose ladies and gentlemen, THIS is spam. so let's get back on topic before placebo shows up
somebloke 0 Posted October 6, 2004 Just out of sheer aircraft-ness, there is a program called classic british aircraft starting on tues 14th (i think) on discovery wings, which will feature classics, such as canberaa, vulcan, bucaneer, hunter, wasp, and other such great aircraft. Could be quite useful for research.
havocsquad 0 Posted October 6, 2004 Just a little notice, the left rear gear has an LOD skinning issue, its completely white on one of the LOD's. There is also either the left or the right rear gear housing showing thru the model on various LOD's as well. I haven't tested the weapons yet, though I'm sure there won't be much problems there. Maat 0 Posted October 6, 2004 ... Footmunch, I made a mission with ten trigg-cam sitting on the Nimiz and only wathched these double bird flying(inheght44)around........wow.. the model is *****, I really Hope that that kind of unit could be uploaded in OFP2 For curiosity how many polygons that..?+- ps Could be an eyecandy use the F4 exaust-fx only with afterburner,?(and sure F15 weapon-script!) thanks
Bobcatt666 0 Posted October 6, 2004 Ok managed to give the F14 some major air time in a few escort missions. Providing cover for the A-6s on a attack mission on land and sea targets. Couldn't use the carrier, last update broke her into three sections that all stacked together. I did manage to land on the russain carrier once.. Bet never could pull that off again.. ;) Well the plane looks very good inside and out as a model stand point, crawled over it no open seams or weird parts. Nice 20 aircraft, over desert island which had a few companies of ground forces impaced in it with air support, and a few of the larger russain ships, almost full frame rate, till the ECM kicked in with the flares and chaff as Su27s pounced our squadron. Able to eat at least two R-27s and still limp back home is another good thing. Funny getting hit and sent tumbling out of control, was able to recover from a flat spin. Managed a gun kill on the SU-27/Flanker One managed to shake all the missile launched at him drove up his rear and pumped him full of 20mm. It wasn't an easy task, but the aircraft seem balanced within their operatinal bounderies. Using the SF Su-27 this wouldn't have been an option they are over powered and very diffcult to take down sometimes just cause they will outrun missiles. Usually gotta attack them in mid turn where they are vulverable. Like the SAM hit effects, the proxy explossions rather than the old direct hit deal. Tried a landing on the truncated Nimitz and found its still very soild when you slam against the side of it with the F14. ;)
Heatseeker 0 Posted October 6, 2004 Hehey, this F14 is amazing, i really hope the final will have more loadouts, ejection seat and all the cool features. It does feel a bit "weak" and not very fast has it takes quite a bit to reach 700+ so flying these is not so enjoyable so i also hope the final one will be more powerfull engine wise. Great fun to kill these siting in a su27 though at the moment they dont present much of a challenge. Oustanding work to the creator of yet another magnificent looking jet, thanks alot Footmunch . Footmunch 0 Posted October 7, 2004 Havoc - I'll check that in the model. Probably a few bad polys + binarize. Bobcatt - Nice work. Good to see the two old warhorses working together (the planes, I mean ) Maat - Poly count is under 3000 (without weapons), I think. Texture budget is a little bit high, but that's mainly because it's quite a 'big' addon. I could add a 'thin' smoke script. Heat - I may bump the speed up 10% or so. Still testing against the Flanker, and the new Flogger (pics + beta soon).
Heatseeker 0 Posted October 7, 2004 I think if this beauty had a ejection seat script it would be the first jet in opf to eject both pilot and gunner simultaneosly, that would be neat .
nephilim 0 Posted October 7, 2004 check soem pics of navy tomacts footmunch teh Navy sign is located on the lower Engine bowels between rudders and wings i have a walk around f14 tomcat book whcih icoudl scan som things out if u want to pm me if u want
somebloke 0 Posted October 7, 2004 Technically wouldn't simultaneus ejection result in parachute accidents?
