Silent hunteriii

you see, you need to prepare you crew when you want to colide with a ship, get crew into damage control, remove crew from the front to back...

besides you are lucky, Type-VIIB u-boat; convoy with no escorts, you now, i played Sinlent Hunter 2 and i was ace, if these my wills would be done i would sink so many ships... smile_o.gif

well realy, it's simple, even in 100% realism...

in 100% realisim it's dificult to find a ship to attack, especialy I hate neutral shiping...

Yes I will take that into account next time.

Does the obat dive faster when people are in front boat sections ?

Would be interesting to know.

Yes realism is good in SH3. I had a lot of problems with simple torpedos as they only tolerate a small level of angle when hitting the boat. I had a lot of "touchers" that didnt go off because the angle they hit the ship was to small. Very well done by developers.

I sitched to magnetic ignitors as they litteraly break the back of a boat from below with their induction method of igniting. Very good if you know depth of ship. Just adjust the height of torpedo run. Another good thing is that they don´t cause any bubbles wich are often seen by other shipcrews and they often avoid a hit by speeding up and changing course.

I guess everyone here knows that. But maybe it´s some starter tip. Same goes for decorating men. I dorated my sonar guy to death and he´s know in service 24/7. He has a good record of detecting really far ships. So medals and badges do improve the crew.

well i don't remember that on my tv would be MDR chanel, but it would be good... besides, few weeks ago i downloaded "World at War: Wofl Pack" movie... was quite interesting, because sh3 then was shiping to stores... biggrin_o.gif

so i prepared some tactics against escorts based by this documentic movie... smile_o.gif

about diving faster when moving crew to forward sections i don't know, but if you want to dive fast use crash dive (i never had a chance to do it, because i was listening to sonar contacts... smile_o.gif )

please people write some tips&tricks, your experiences, ideas... i'm interested what i could know more about sh3 captains job:D

i use type-I torpedoes and i could bought type-II but there is writen, that they are not so good or something like that...

I know its quite realistic but i still hate it when my torp bounces off the hull.

I miss the typical "bong" that must have been heard when a torpedo hits the hull without exploding. I guess that must have scared the **** out of the crew.

I miss some details, like being able to pick up a ship or ships that surrender and you go alongside and take the ship. Things like that...but that may go too far. It´s just that it makes you really feel like a captain when you stand on the bridge at rough sea, your watch dressed in heavy clothes and the ship rolling through the waves. Very nice impressions.

You have the choice of playing over ubi.com or to set up a LAN game. LAN would be the best to get us together in a game.

Just got the game, too. Unfortunately I won't be able to install & play it before monday. Anyways, all the stories remind me very much of the old Silent Service. I still have fond memories of those days. Time to give the genre another try!

Have you guys seen this mod (World Expansion v1.72): http://www.combatplanes.ca/m_c.htm

I have not tried it yet but it looks very interesting. I really like that part about having ships in the harbor. That is something I miss in the game now. Its no fun sneaking in to an enemy harbor just to find out its completely empty.

Yeah, I snuck into Scapa Flow and Gibraltar, only to find that there were no anchored battleships to sink. sad_o.gif

OMG i did that at Bergen and it wasnt easy navigating all those little waterways, i pulled up in the middle of the night all excited to show them a fireworks display Kriegsmarine style only to find it desolate  mad_o.gif

EDIT: LOL. Hellfish we were thinking exactly the same thing at the same time.

I have to admit that I am pretty impressed. I never really got into submarine games before. Even Sub Command was to complicated to play casually. But SH3 is bloody good. It is easy enough to play as any other game without having to read 300 pages of manual. Although I haven't started campaign yet. Still going through the training missions..... smile_o.gif

Well noone really does anymore because for some reason they stopped making manuals for games. It's either a pdf or some crappy 4 page CD booklet.... sad_o.gif

Yes Naval academy! smile_o.gif Well the manual isnt to bad I must say. All you need is in there. I was a bit dissapointed with the Museum, I think SH3 doesnt have enough models. But maybe it is moddable wink_o.gif

One thing I find extremely smart is to put the CD-key on the actual CD. I can throw away so many games just because I lost the key. (NWN, Global Operations and and and). As long as I have the CD I will have the key. Very good!

But I am being serious, let me exercise for one/two more weeks and then let us set up a password-protected server and play together. I think we enough in this forum that have the game to represent a fleed with beasty firepower!
