Tears of the sun seals

Recommended Posts

I had considered short/rolled up sleeves. However, to make this work correctly I would have to map the face texture onto the arms (to prevent players using black faces with being stuck with white arms and vice-versa).

Having the face texture mapped onto the arms can look very weird, as it requires a lot of stretching of the texture etc. take the Nam Pack units for example. So, in the end I decided against doing this.

Is it even possible to make a soldier with only one face to match thier arms to where it cant be changed? I know a lot of people would get annoyed but really i think I'd rather have a few guys with rolled up sleevs, or with just LBVs and tank tops on. Anyways good job i dont mean to be annoying i know how hard and frustaring it is. And btw dude i meant they always "look" unperfessional (as most SF forces do i.e. Army SF many have beards or strange facial hair) not that they are unprofessional. Trust me my friend is in MFR and thats no joke eigther.

Quote[/b] ]u got the pavehawks from bas

its  better just to let him finish the seal pack units

theres enuff transport for spec ops around

Whole thing is though in the movie they didn't use pavehawks, they used seahawks.

well

pavehawks are the top choppers for spec ops missions

seals are spec ops so they should use it

they have all this hair, because with a ranger-haircut they couldn't blend in with the population. Most SF have long hair and a lot have beards.

Wrong. A chopper is chosen by what's there. A sea-born seal ops will use a Seahawk (when using a chopper of the blackhawk class) since that's the only blackhawk that operates from ships. Most seal ops are sea-born, so they will mostly use the seahawk instead of the other blackhawk types.

PJ's will allways use the pavehawk and army SF use all sort of stuff (pavehawks and blackhawks) according to the situation.

Cpt. Frostbite....actually that's not strictly true.....SEAL's often use Pavehawks when they deploy from non Seabased platforms.

Also witness the Marines who flew on Pavehawks into Liberia. It mostly depends on availability of aircraft in the theater of operations.

I think that covers most of your post.

But here another one:

I was responding to ruff's post in which he stated that seals should use pavehawks simply because there spec ops. WHat I wanted to say with my post is that there's no such thing as "we use this chopper and nothing else" and that it depends on the situation, mission profile and area of operation.

So next time (and I never though I would have to say this to you) read my post carefully.

Well....guess you told me.

However....just one extra point (after reading your post carefully).

The Seahawk is not the only Blackhawk that operates from ships. Pavehawks and MH-60s do this regularly as well.

I've never seen the movie but when i picture a Seal they always seem like that to me, kind of unprofessional yet very useful soldiers.

Hahaha, yeah ok. tounge_o.gif

FYI SEALs have some of the toughest training on the planet.

If unprofessional soldiers could be that useful, why would you train troops at all? Or maybe you should train them to be unprofessional? The mind boggles at the options. tounge_o.gif

yes I know, but in my initial post I didn't want to get that detailed. The seahawk is designed for seaborn operations and the other blackhawks are indeed used, but not too often. And for sea-sea operations (ship boardings) they will almost everytime use seahawk. (with the exception of the medivacs which fly from and to the medical ships). I didn't expect some technical guy (you) to respond to it with all details about what choppers they use.

As for the Pavehawk vs. Seahawk thing, if I remember correctly the helicopters on Tears of the Sun were most definitely Seahawks.

If this is based upon the movie, then use whatever variant of the blackhawk they used.

Personally I would prefer to use Seahawks for any Navy Seal addon or addons that I use to simulate Navy Seals (like the CoC Divers).

I've uploaded an image, containing an animation made by Wilco, exclusively for SJB. It can be found at http://sjb.ofpr.com/tos....on1.jpg. Wilco's animation is on the left, and the animation on the right is possibly by Hunter, I can't remember tounge_o.gif

Not only have I uploaded a 'Postcard from Cuba' image (check the above link to the unit page), I've just gained permission from Cheeky Monkey to use his M60E3 model for the pack. I've modified it into a very "shexy" (to quote AK) MK43. Check it out at http://sjb.ofpr.com/tos/weapons/index.html

Post feedback and comments/suggestions for improvement

hmm, get rid of the ammobox and replace it with a soft one. Seals (and SF in general) mostly use soft boxes.

The flashhider is not the only thing that needs to be changed. The handguard on the m60e4 is very different from the e3. The carrying handle has also changed. I have no time right now, but there are plenty of sites on which you can see what has changed on the e4.

I kept hitting refresh after I made my post tounge_o.gif

Nah, I've got notifications on for this trhead, so I get an e-mail when a reply comes in. Quite handy. I'm starting work on the soft ammo bag thing now. Will post progress screenshots later or more likely tomorrow.
