Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted January 22, 2004 Vice Versa. We take pictures from the game but there has also been a time when pictures have been taken FOR the game. I think the greatest honour would be for one of us to give his face for Operation Flashpoint 2. This man was given the honour This could be a great promotional tool. You could have little marketing campaigns in computer magazines, in which the winning reader can give his face for an important person in Operation Flashpoint 2. Hell I myself would be very excited. How many copies did the first version sell again (and still is)
Heatseeker 0 Posted January 23, 2004 Most OPF players are male, if BIS wants to make the game more appealing to female croud feel free to use my face, we all know theirs didnt work very well ...
Major Gripe 0 Posted January 23, 2004 Genius concept, but it should be opened up to non flashpointers to get them interested in OFP2.
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted January 23, 2004 Well not realy genious. But I think 80% of the game success will depend on Marketing. Why? You think it doesnt because it is the game that counts? Wrong! The reason is that like in hollywood the second version of a successful movie depends on promotion. Advertisement? No, that is too expensive, too ineffective to reach the intended target market.Secondly the internet is spammed with advertisement, so is TV and magazines. Nowadays you need self involvement to provoke interest. The beginning of the self involvement strategy were those ads that went for "name a star in the sky after you" and "participate in Baywatch". It works! In Germany we have an entire TV channel dedicated to computers, internet and especially games that would be the right platform. Codemasters was lucky the game came out so great, cause Marketing-wise they failed...big big time and I bet the next game has more money involved. They better make sure they get the money back! OmniMax 0 Posted January 23, 2004 Albert is correct. A promotion of this tact would be of great initiative if targeted in an enviroment of people like those whom frequent the OFP forum, here. Who am I talking about? Gamers, of course. PC gamers, military nutters, ex-soldiers, et cetra. It would be a great way to advertise, who wouldn't want to be in a game? Especially a game of this caliber and greatness (lets face it, although PC gamer USA bashed it, OFP has to be the most underrated game of all time, simply to no appeal to speed shooters whom play quake, CS) So, I think it sounds like a good idea. Better then paying actors or people on the street to put their faces in, right?
Colossus 2 Posted January 23, 2004 Most OPF players are male, if BIS wants to make the game more appealing to female croud feel free to use my face, we all know theirs didnt work very well ... When they released the GOTY they forgot to put female voices. Anyway IÂ belive that would be fun to have a face of your own.

FallenPaladin 0 Posted January 23, 2004 I think it`s a nice idea! Even if some of the "newer" and younger players would be shocked when seeing faces like mine!

Pipski 0 Posted January 24, 2004 I'd actually prefer a `face editor' in the game so that the players fizzog could be tweaked to resemble whoever I want. Hell, if Tony Hawks Skateboarding can manage it I'm sure BIS can!

Pipski 0 Posted January 25, 2004 You allready can edit your own face. Look at my avatar. That's me. I don't mean like just picking one from a list or having to do it externally from the game, I mean like in other games where you have sliders controlling e.g. distance between eyes, skin tone, eye colour, nose length, beard shade, moustache curliness etc.

Harnu 0 Posted January 27, 2004 my district judge has ruled that my face, just like Harnu's, is a public nuissance. Hey hey hey, I got a haircut. Now I look like a Jarhead, and damn proud of it! Just disregard all features on the face and simply take into account the shape
OmniMax 0 Posted January 27, 2004 I petition to get Harnu's dad's face into the game, dammnit. Even if there isn't a vietnam campaign.
Harnu 0 Posted January 27, 2004 Ya, that would be damn cool *wink wink nudge nudge*
bn880 5 Posted January 27, 2004 How about all the forum VIP's get option to put their mug in OFP2? Would be kinda cool, we could even use the real names and nicks (if Nicks are used in game). just a wild suggestion, don't try to assasinate me, I will be unpredictable EDIT: I mean also VIP nominees and Moderators etc
Balschoiw 0 Posted February 3, 2004 ...and me  Balschoiw makes an excellent name  *runs for the camera* <<-- and my face doesn´t look too bad either  We need a female officer with Avon´s face !
Lt_Damage 0 Posted February 4, 2004 We need a female officer with Avon´s face ! No thanks. Besides, it would spoil the emersiveness of the game having someone you recognise.
