DracoPaladore 0 Posted December 29, 2003 I'm thinking of buying the World War Two movie Stalingrad off of Ebay, and have heard that it was a very good movie. I'm just wondering though, have any of you seen the movie and was it any good?
jakerod 254 Posted December 30, 2003 I never saw the whole thing but I thought it was a pretty good movie. It was when I was 11 though so I don't know if I would have the same opinion now but it seemed good then. Ill have to watch it again sometime soon.

Placebo 31 Posted December 30, 2003 A film I haven't seen yet and want to some day. Am I remembering correctly that there are at least two versions, one authentic with subtitles and one dubbed in to English? (I may be thinking of Das Boot), if there are two versions of this you really have to go with the subtitled version as dubbing just kills the atmosphere/mood (IMO)
jakerod 254 Posted December 30, 2003 Im bored so i will suggest two more World War 2 movies for you here... #1: A Bridge Too Far: Its another one of those I have not seen in a while and havent seen the whole thing but it was a very good movie from what I saw it pops up on TV every once in a while. #2: I was going to suggest the Longest Day but that isnt that great of a movie. The same thing i do for "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" (which is not about WW2 )
GoOB 0 Posted December 30, 2003 I have the DVD (with only German speech, none of that fancy dubbing) And I strongly recommend it to any one person out there. Wether you are interested in world war two or not you will find it interesting. It shows a side of the war wich is very rarely captured in movies. It shows that the German soldiers were not beasts or "evil" men, but doing their duty as all other soldiers were.

Some of them had to learn English just to do it.

I already have that one Thanks all, that fortifies my decision. Problem, I checked all the vendors here so I couldn't find it, Ebayt was last option.
Ex-RoNiN 0 Posted December 31, 2003 UK version of Region 2 is English dubbed with no other language options Probably best off getting it from Amazon.de if you are in the EU.
John C Flett 0 Posted December 31, 2003 Not had a chance to watch it yet because I don't have access to a DVD player here but I just picked up the spanish DVD which has original german with english subtitles as an option. The UK and US versions are only in a dubbed version even on DVD ( How daft is that ? ). Only cost about 16€. Am looking forward to getting home and watching it as I've heard such good things about it. Oops. I should have looked online first. http://cine.elcorteingles.es/seccion....ingrado
DracoPaladore 0 Posted December 31, 2003 UK version of Region 2 is English dubbed with no other language options  Probably best off getting it from Amazon.de if you are in the EU. The DVD I got online had no Region coding, so I'm lucky there. I hope I have chances of subtitles, since I hate dubbed movies. But if they are, meh.
