Cloney 0 Posted November 2, 2003 I could agree with that too. I also have to give credit to the Armalite series for starting the revolution in small caliber ammunition.

ozanzac 0 Posted November 2, 2003 The laser designator, combined with the GPS system, combined with a radio. Nothing like a precision airstrike to blow the enemy away, and take the vulnerable infantrymen out of harms way.

EiZei 0 Posted November 2, 2003 M249 Squad Automatic Weapon ( SAW )The best MG on earth I would hardly call that revolutionary though.
Milkman 1 Posted November 2, 2003 Two centuries back: The Gatling Gun First automatic weapon to fire over 100 shots a minute I beleive. The concept was abandoned untill the 1960's. The M134 Vulcan is a direct decendent of the technology, able to fire over 6,000 rounds a minute. Multiple barrels allow for the weapon to cool, and because it uses an external power source, no jams ever stop its firing. I beleive the vulcan and all other gattling type guns are the most devastating guns that fire bullets, so the Gatling gun has my vote.

Major Fubar 0 Posted November 2, 2003 Hard pressed to go past the AK series...is the AK-47 still the world's most numerous smallarm?
mr burns 133 Posted November 2, 2003 German Sturmgewehr 44. The AK´s design is very much derived from it. But on the other hand the Ak is stil being used in almost the whole world and it is said to be the most reliable weapon you can get
Dauragon 0 Posted November 2, 2003 Hard pressed to go past the AK series...is the AK-47 still the world's most numerous smallarm? Isnt there enough AK-47 to make everyone in the world have 2 ak-47?
edc 0 Posted November 2, 2003 Hmm... maybe the MP-5. and I doubt there'd be 12 billion Kalishnakovs(~6 bil. people on earth).
Cloney 0 Posted November 2, 2003 I think the total number of AK-47/74s is around 100 million or so. I think in Mozambique you can pick one up for around $6US. For that price I'll take 10!
mr burns 133 Posted November 2, 2003 Hmm... maybe the MP-5. i´m not an firearms expert...but if i judge the mp5 from my RavenShield expierences it´s not a good infantry weapon since the average combat distance in the open field lays between 200-500 m (or something like this) which (if true) disqualifies the mp5 (effective range 100 m).
