Winter

Why are there from every Islands a Winter version except for Nogova, or is there one i coundent find one

Please somebody help me smile_o.gif

A rather old and discussed topic. It is not possible to release a winter version of Nogova because it is only included in Resistance addon. If there would be a winter Nogova addon, it would also be available to people who have only the original OFP:CWC and not necessarily Resistance.

This is the problem. If you want to have Nogova, you have to get Resistance, but BIS does not want to make Nogova available to people who have only CWC.

well u would have to use the resistance buildings for nogova as there completly different to the CWC ones

But in which file is the resistance buildings situated?, O.pbo?

If people don't have O.pbo, then I assume, if they ever tried to use a modified Nogova, the buildings and objects wouldn't load.

To see if my theory is correct or incorrect, can people who use CWC load winter Nogojev? (a Hybrid of Kolgujev using reistance objects and textures?)

But thats assuming that for making islands, you don't need to have all objects and textures within the islands pbo.

Get my drift? smile_o.gif

thing is tho that all the buildings would have to have new textures because of the snow or else they wouldnt look right. so then they would have new names and they would have to be included in the island pbo.

then the people would be able to load it

People with CWC only can not use Winter Nogojev, they have to use Winter Kolgujev instead.

Well, Avonlady keeps telling us that BIS has given the nod for someone to release a winter Nogova with no legal implications, but I don't know what her source is...

Winter Nogova would be nice, especially with Kegetys snow & northern lights scripts.

OK, I get that. So lets look at things such as objects. Is it possibe to retexture the objects, have the textures in a new file, but the original 3d models of the objects be kept only in the original file? (Note that I don't know a heck of alot about Island and object making wink_o.gif )

What about a simple version check? I know this is re-configurable, but would a version check be enough to keep BIS happy?

Anybody ever think of this line of code in the CPP:

Didnt a member of BIS post saying that it would be possible using something along the lines of the installer used in kegetys' Hi-Sky addon?

Who cares what installer is used?

And an island addon is a single PBO file, nothing as complex as Hi Sky.

BUT people would still be able to write their own config for it...

Lets just ask BIS if we can (I believe Kegs had a winterised version of nogova, but wasnt releasing it because he wanted to do summat to it with visitor (dont quote me on that, my memory might not serve me as well as it should))

So:

BIS, can we release (if we ever made) a winter version of Nogova?

I doubt that winter nogova could actually cause any significant impact on GoTY sales.

Unfortunately, I did not retain the email from Marek Spanel to me that clearly stated this was OK on condition that it's only usable for version 1.75 and above.

you could get that in a cpp, but when someone without Resistance edit the cpp he can run the island... blues.gif

you could give the path to the nogova.wrp to the o.pbo file instead of winternogova.pbo
