Of course he needs to get permission, if it was any kind of commercial property that he repackaged without permission he would be liable for legal action, i see no difference just because it happens to be something that is made and given to people for free. There do happen to be such things as copyright laws. Not to mention that it would be courteous towards the addon maker to at least ask if he could repackage their addon. It's a mass d-load of addons that people probably already have(if you like desert addons) and a huge pain to boot if you are doing it peer to peer. Did I miss a reason for getting this? I have read the last post and i would like to give a global answer: first it's true i have no permission for put all this "original addons" in an new archive, but i can read in some "readme.txt"; "you can distribute this addons if you change nothing", this is why I won't hurt anybody if i redistribute the addons. Also when i will build a pack with the addons from a great mod like the "B.A.S, code blue, caucasus crisis..... and more" I will take the permission first. I became aware of all for this first release and I would take following measurements: - I will ask permission first. - I will release two kind of pack: One pack for my campaign (this for a new campaign or i update the old pack). The second kind is made by country (USA, SOVIET, RESISTANCE....UK), theatre of war (WWII, Vietnam, Modern War...) and will include all vehicles and soldiers, boats, planes, for OFP AND OFPR mixed..... - All addons for all packs will be classed by creator or team and listed in a "list.txt". - I will insert in the archive a "readme.txt" for info - all the packs will be signed from my web site, dated with a version. there are two pack because you can take the choice to download for playing my works or to complete your collection with the other packs. I will create a "Addons Database" section in my web site, where you will be able to download all. supergruntsb78 67 Posted October 8, 2003 some of the addons in this pack are like really ancient not up to date with resistance etc. get those out and you will have a pack that is worth the download if you like desert addons that is (example... TJP helos ...well TJP = BAS (or at least part of it) and so the blackhawks of bas are the (much) better version then the TJP helos) but keep up the work i would say so it will be easyer to download all the addons and put them on a cd but try to make it in a time pack (ex. ww2 ->vietnam/jungle -> desert -> etc. Â then i will download it try to keep up to date with the addons Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
azimut0 0 Posted October 9, 2003 Yes there is several ancient addons but they works with OFP and Resistance, and this is not a pack about BAS addons, I don't want to put the news addons from internet because I have not the permission, the pack is a big error also (you need to know that) and the next packs will be better. But how about retextures and modified BIS oficial units, if that was the case i believe all modified bis stuff would be ilegal too not to mention addons that use material like sounds, models and stuff from other games .
