    Any usmc uh-1n released?

Another thing I've been waiting for is a CH-46 Seaknight. I don't see any reason why one of the two hasn't been made. It's a real shame.

    War of desert addons

So if I burnt a copy of my addons folder for my friend who just bought Resistance I am liable for legal action and being a theiving jackass? Who are you? Lars Ulrich?

    Flyer 21

I was wondering if anyone has considered making the Flyer 21? It was recently shown on Mail Call. Here's some information in case anyone is interested Should be much like the Dune Buggy... only more heavily armed and should hold more passengers. There's also a Medical and Spec Op models.

    New a-10 or an f-16

I tried doing so, but the 4th time I slammed into the carrier making myself a human missile, I decided I'd stick to the helos. Personnally, I voted F-16C... But PLEASE do not make the speeds realistic at starting points. I remember trying out a MiG-29 add-on, and I was going 1550 MPH as soon as the game started... WAY too fast for OFP. Please, keep starting speeds under 450. Make it as fast as IRL when you step-up the throttle, but starting speed around that would be appreciated. It would be nice to see an A-10 with mucho amounts of options, but the F-16 just seems more attractive. Just MHO.

The standard issue M-998 isn't a combat system, either. It would be like fielding a Piper Cub for CAS (not FAC, CAS). The thing is, that all HMMVWs that are intented for combat purposes (I.E.: one with a MG/other weapon system mounted on it... or basically any HMMVW in OFP) WOULD BE OUTFITTED FOR COMBAT PURPOSES. By no means is the M-1114 special, nor does that mean that in-the-field modifications are not done. I've read some papers by mechanics that worked on vehicles like the HMMVW where they KNEW it would be shot at would weld in ADDITIONAL steel plating in places like under the hood. Also, HMMVWs can be outfitted with kevlar lining inside the doors quite quickly, and if that somehow can't be done, even the windows offer protection. One of the things that saved a SEAL inside one of the HMMVWs from the convoy was because he had the window down. The round penetrated the door, went through most of the window and about a 1/4 of the bullet was protruding outside of the door. In other words, even unarmed HMMVWs can have protection. Do you really have any idea how easily it is to modulate a HMMVW? Doors can be replaced, so can windows too. It's all quite easy for someone that is working in a motor pool. In-field modifications are extremely common place and are usually not objected unless it is a hinder (and steel plating welded onto the inside of the hood is worth the added weight). So, no. I'm going to have to disagree with you. You can modulate a HMMVW and make something like the M-998 into an armored convoy element. Just read Black Hawk Down and you'll realize these things take punishment, even the versions that weren't ment to be shot at. BIS HMMWV That never happened for me. Besides, HMMWVs in Mogadishu took more than 120 rounds (plus they got hit by RPGs). Honestly, I think that an increase on armor on some versions of the HMMVW wouldn't hurt at all... there's plenty of versions you can use in MP that won't be whore vehicles. I don't think the armor needs to be increased much on that... but I've used some HMMVW add-ons where 9x19 MP5 rounds were able to pierce right through. And, even though it's a large round, 7.62x54 would not ALWAYS go through it like butter. I remember I was fooling around with the map editor in 1.46, and I was just testing out ways on how to best assault vehicles. Well, I had the original unedited HMMVW included in 1.20 charge right at me. With AK-74 in hand, I fired off 9 rounds and killed 3 of the occupents. The 4th was wounded, but he was in the back, so it makes sense that those bullets that passed through the vehicle like butter were slowed down by his comrade's bodies. :rolleye: Needless to say, I didn't use the HMMVW after that.

BDRM isn't exactly a tank, but at least you can kick it and not worry about it breaking down. I mean, it will take about 200 rounds of medium caliber to completely destroy it (by then, it's likely all 4 tires would be out... so you wouldn't be moving). And, AFAIK, you CAN shoot occupants that are in the HMMWV. Plus... I don't know which grenades you are talking about. The 40mm/37mm ones? Hand grenades? I mean, the bottom line is that it should be more protective. Windows and tires should be fair game for destruction (even though the windows have bullet-resistant materials imbedded in them... we'll overlook them). I don't know which HMMWVs you're using, but all the ones I've used the occupants can be killed with some well-placed rounds... It's pathetic.

Hmm, I guess I'll make a back-up of the config and then try the armor values out.

    New mod

I'm glad to hear you've decided to start work on this. I really hope you and your team will be able to finish this... There are so many good mods/add-ons that never get released. Please don't be one of them. I'll be keeping my eye out for this mod. Good luck.

    Request: police tactical team suv

That would be amazing. Certainly, if done right, would be one of the best available add-ons. I mean, plus, you're doing people in the emergency services world a thanks and a nod for their help. But, I would like that. Fire trucks/ladder trucks (operational too, WOOT!), EMS Ambulances, LifeFlight Helos, SWAT/Police/K9, HAZMAT, ect. Would be realistic and a nice change of pace. I hope someone picks it up.

    Merkava mk.3!!

No vehicle in the entire U.S. inventory was designed for urban combat in mind. The thing is, is that is perfect for urban warfare, however. Albeit, it is not armored as much as one would like to. But, a RPG-7 to the top of a M1A1 turret wouldn't leave even that in good operating condition. The thing is is the LAV-25 is extremely versitale. That's the reason the USMC likes it. They can traverse rivers, fight in almost any terrain, and take the troops to battle with them. The good thing about the LAV-25 is that it can transport small amounts of soldiers, yet it's small enough for trasnport on C-130 and is able to manuever through streets. In essance, it's as good as urban combat vehicles get in terms of sheer firepower and ability to deliver cargo (men). or even AK-47 fire in some tests. With all due respect, I highly doubt that. As for the RPG tests, they prove what we already know. It's a light-armored fast attack vehicle/transport. It wasn't ment to take hits, that's why they would have armor support and troop support to make sure they aren't taking RPG rounds every 5 seconds. The thing is that RPGs have mix-matched results. Prior to Mogadishu, we didn't know RPGs with some modifications were effective close-range AA munitions. That's one example of RPGs hitting weak points and bringing down a piece of hardware which we thought they wouldn't be able to take out. Although a M1A1 Abrams could and would sustain multiple RPG hits, if you start hitting the engine compartment or tracks, chances are you're going to stop that M1A1 Abrams and allow yourself more time to shoot at it. It's doubtful just one RPG aimed anywhere at an Abrams could destroy it, but you can disable it. That's for damn sure.

I like this idea. This and that step-van would be excellent as a SWAT Team pack.

That's why the LAV-25 was invented. It's also another reason for the Stryker.

    Request: step van

That would be a great little add-on. Especially if you could do that "open the doors and blow them coppers away." Would be fun to use in urban terrain, too. I'd love it if someone made a Flowers By Irene van... you know... for flower deliveries... Yeah, sure... :shifty:
  15. Hello. Long time reader and first time poster here. Ok, let me start off as best as I can figure... I love the HMMWV... and I like the BDRM in OFP. Ok, so what does that have to do with add-ons? I'm getting to that, don't worry. You see, after reading Black Hawk Down a few years ago, I finally got an idea of how rugged and tough HMMWVs are. In BHD, which is about as accurate as a book can get, it detailed about McKnight's convoy column. The 5-tonners performed well, but it's the actions of the HMMWVs that really got my attention. One HMMWV apparently got it's ENTIRE AXEL blown off by an RPG and was being pushed for over an hour by a 5-ton. Now, these HMMWVs aren't tanks nor are they armored vehicles, but I really get pissed off in OFP how 9x19 rounds can slice through the body like a hot knife through butter. Those doors stopped multiple 7.62x39s (AK-47/AKM caliber) in Mogadishu. So, where does the BDRM fit into this? I purpose a HMMWV with BDRM-like armor... Penetration of tires and window is fair game, but the body should hold up a tad more, a little less than the BDRM. Ugh, but, yeah, just my personnel feelings.
